I think that you are correct in your thought… but we all know the WRITERs will have twist and turns to the plot in the future. I think they lurk on this board and read our posts then change the stories accordingly….

I think he is Merlin. So we have seen in the previews that we are going to see one of the knights of the round table (Lancelot) . Whale does say to James “You are not my King”. could that be a clue?

Yes Jefferson is seen in the book in a room full of hats. “Make it work”.
If Whale is Frankenstein, then possibly the orderly who is seen in the secret hospital floor is the Monster.
The FTL people in Storybrook can now leave Storybrook.
Jefferson will take his daughter and use his, now working, magic hat to go too another realm.
August will become real again.

DR Whale will become the next big Villain. (I really had hoped it would have been Maleficent.)
I think he is Monstro from Pinocchio. Thus the name Dr. Whale.
Just like Mr. Gold spun gold, Granny well she’s Granny, Dr. Hopper is the Cricket and Ruby is Red Riding Hood. The interesting part for me though is finding out if he is Good or Bad now. He could turn out to be a Bad @$$ villain.@darcyfarrow wrote:
