ParticipantMy husband has been walking around this morning just as shocked as I am. He makes me feel that much more sane, though. People fail to understand how it has nothing to do with shipping, or even about losing a fav character. He sees all the weirdness in the ep and the *reason* he had to die was just lame. He makes me feel so much better about how I feel. How all of us feel. They can say it’s all our emotions running wild and they can say it’s just grief, etc. But deep down it’s just so much more than that. It’s so much bigger. I don’t appreciate people just brushing off our reactions about the show as emotional. First, I mean, what is wrong with emotional in the first place? But second of all, it really underestimates peoples’ ability to watch a show as a whole. Please. Don’t act like I am all upset because a fictional character died and it will jsut blow over and it’s all about the emotion of dying. Using that as a way of brushing our LEGITIMATE opinions about the quality of the episode is just wrong. “the only reason they’re upset is because Neal died. The writers can do what they want.” YES. I have been an ADVOCATE for that for forever now. The problem is, Kalinda Vasquez was not up for the challenge to do ADAM AND EDDY– THE ORIGINAL CREATORS AND WRITERS OF MOST NEAL PARTS– justice. We can still be objective about the show. We can still have a valid opinion based in reality. Ugh. So much was out of place in this ep, so much dialogue didn’t even make sense and wasn’t even consistent. Being upset about that has NOTHING to do with whining that we didn’t get our way. Neal saying he finally gets to sacrifice himself for his family for the first time is just ABSURD. That’s not whining that I didn’t get my way. THAT IS INCONSISTENT WITH 55+ EPISODES OF THIS TELEVISION SERIES. And it’s OKAY to be upset over writing as absurd as that.

ParticipantI’ve wanted to watch Terriers but have yet to start it.
On one hand, Wonderland is kind of like my hope right now, but that’s ending for good, so… yeah. Just sad. But I’m glad for the way Wonderland has been going because at least there’ll be one episode to be excited for after this horrendous turn of events.

ParticipantCan we just be here with each other today? I can’t bring myself to care about 316 at all.
Yes, please, can we?
I don’t care at all either. Seriously. I have zero interest. It’s not about a ship. It is about the principles of the entire show that got me watching in the first place. Theyre gone. It is amazing how I don’t even care what happens now.Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.

ParticipantI tossed and turned all night too. Kept waking up and it just hitting me all over again. Crazy how much this resembles actual mourning.
It was a moral, it was a foundation of hope and truth. It was that little beacon of light in the dark that told you everything would be okay in the end.
Exactly. It is not just about his character. It’s about everything this show stood for. I feel like the show is dead. Because from s1, before MRJ even CME on the scene, Baelfire was that beacon of hope for me. The reason for the curse the reason for everything. The reason for the show. I understood that very quickly. It is not the only reason why I watched the show, but it resounded in me from my very first time watching.
It’s just all so fishy. It really is.

ParticipantEditing my sig banner just now, I re-read that quote of Neal’s that I’ve got in there, and “I’ll see both of you again.” BOTH OF YOU. BOTH. So either the writers have a malicious sense of humour, or there’s gonna be a loophole and Neal will indeed see Henry again.
Also, I find the Twitter silence really odd. It’s not just Adam, it’s the rest of the main cast, and MRJ himself. Even the couple of cast members who did tweet MRJ, it wasn’t a, “Was great working with you, miss you buddy,” type thing. Which is weird considering MRJ is great friends with the rest of the cast, in particular JMo. They shared that epic emo scene where his character died, and not a single tweet between the actors? I dunno, maybe it’ll be a different story tomorrow and they’ve just got a gag order because some website has exclusive rights to an exit interview and they’re not allowed to address it until it’s been published, but that seems a bit extreme to give them orders about what they can and can’t tweet to their friend from their personal Twitter accounts.
Things both in the show itself, and involving the actors and Adam are just so weird, so as of right now, I’m calling shenanigans on the whole hot mess.
Agree with all of this. First of all… “You can have your happy ending, Bae. Just not with me.” WHY EVEN GO THERE? WHY EVEN HAVE THAT LINE? Why even have Bae’s “both of you” line? All written after the death was decided. Ugh. So wrong.
Second. Twitter. Hubby and I were discussing this too. It is just so eerie. Even Colin was like “hey buddy! Great job tonight!” And Sean. Like… what? No “pleasure working with you” “you’ll be missed”? That is incredibly strange … even if there was crap behind the scenes with an actor, you save face on Twitter and wish them the best. Why tweet at all? It is just SO WEIRD. Something is off and if it is not for some big twist, it just seems cold, heartless, and staged. Why all the silence?Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.

ParticipantHere’s something else that makes no sense and makes me mad. Zelena couldn’t control rumple if Neal was outside of him and dead. HELLO. FIND A WAY TO FIGURE IT OUT WITHOUT KILLING NEAL AND HANDING THE DARK ONES POWERS AND CONTROL OVER TO A WICKED WITCH.
What they did was far worse than what they gained. They released the DO into her hands all the while killing Neal. It was SO POINTLESS.On another note. Take a look at this picture of a younger MRJ. Amazing resemblance to Dylan Schmid. http://twitter.com/adaissquishy/status/450490124736790528/photo/1

ParticipantSomeone please explain to me how I keep watching this show now that they did such a horrible thing to such a good character and a good man (MRJ).
I just started crying talking to my husband about this. I’m crying for my disappointment in the show. The love is gone. Not even because Neal is gone. But because of how horrible it was handled.
It’s a devastating feeling knowing something that has meant so much to you and spoken to your heart just pulled a 180 on you. Like I said, I was prepared for Neal to die and continue watching the show. But now that they handled it like this I just can’t. I’m too disappointed in the concept of the show as a whole. And that is why I am crying.
If fans of the show who hated Neal are calling his death brilliantly handled and the fans of Neal HATE how it was handled…. that is a surefire sign of horrible writing. Seriously. The idea is to move fan’s hearts and do him justice so that way his fans are so moved and conflicted by his death. Kind of the same concept they use for villains such as Rumple. It’s tragic, but it doesn’t have to be absurd and inconsistent with your entire story. And it doesn’t have to be given to one of the lowest performing writers…..I get it. People will be mad just because he died. But the majority of complaints I am seeing online are not BECAUSE he died. It’s how it was written. It’s the injustice. The inconsistencies.
The sign of good writing is even in devastation, is the closure.
