@smj ;; Maybe it has something to do with a local government organization ( I guess the real world equivalent would be something like the ‘Illuminati’. ) Makes me wonder – if the tree should show up on print-money. Based on what you’ve outlined of the article ( do you have a link? ) – it sounds like some sort of insignia/symbol. So it stands for something ( ex: Caduceus is often associated with the medical field. ) If it is the local government – it should show up in public works – & government run locations. ( Like – if Storybrooke has / if he ever see it’s Post Office or Bank. / The Library also comes to mind. )
( You’ve got me off on this whole other train of thought now – I’ll have to dig deeper in regards to all this & re-watch some eps. to see if I see the tree anywhere else besides what is mentioned. )
The home-coming in the Odyssey took fifteen years – (maybe the curse has a potency of 15 yrs? ). I’m also pretty sure 5 of those years were spent with Circe on her island. She kind of cheated by manipulating time outside of the island.
I’m pretty sure that Lake Nostos is the underground lake that the Stranger was referring to in the legend. So the water from the well is fed from the same lake ( at least – that’s my theory. ) And that’s going based on the whole – Storybrooke is on top of FTL theory.
But yeah – the dialog was too in-depth for it not to be important.
@ hjbau ;; I think Kathryn is neutral right now. As far as someone working for the evil side – I’d say Sydney is a pretty obvious help to Regina & she obviously has him completely under her thumb. As far as anyone else who might be on her side – the nurse @ the hospital comes to mind. ( The fact that she gave her a red rose makes me think she’s the ‘Queen of Hearts’ – you know – what with ‘painting the roses red’ & all that. ) That’s off-topic though.

( Just kidding. / I envy those of people who can multi-task – as alas I am not one of them. )// Either way – welcome.
😀cruel_fortunaParticipantI did some more digging & I found some further clarification in regards to the rituals associated with Beltane . In particular, the use of a particular fire ritual – known as the ‘Neid Fire‘ ( Tein’-éigin ) ; also known as the Force Fire. Which details how this fire was/is considered an antidote against bewitching, as well as the plague.
You can find instances of this ritual in the Carmina Gadelica ; which has various instances of Scottish/Gaelic folklore within the next.
( Just thought that was interesting. You can also find more info on the Beltane Fire Festival by visiting their official homepage. Wikipedia also doesn’t hurt for external links. )
cruel_fortunaParticipant@Mia ;; I think it could be the same well – lakes dry up after all.
I don’t think they’d call it Yggdrasil – mostly cause that name is just too hard to pronounce.
They’d probably call it the ‘Tree of Knowledge’ – seeing as they’ve used other Bible references already. ( I saw the Golden Fleece too & what I thought was the ‘singing golden harp’ from Jack & the Beanstalk.)@ DanielJLewis ;; Screen shots would be lovely. Based on my spatial memory I believe it’s the same one – although that’s not much to go on. Heh.
@obisgirl ;; Depends on who/if anyone else drinks the water from the well.@ hjbau ;; I think it’s a little bit of both. Yes – the stranger placed the book there but I don’t think he was lying/fibbing/exaggerating about the water having magical properties. ( Just my thoughts. ) Why would he bring it up if he didn’t believe it ( if he’ supposedly never lies )?

- You wanna know what’s funny. My professor doesn’t even know my name. He doesn’t take roll & I never speak up in class – so yeah. ( I’m more of a write-it out kind of gal. / This invariably always leads to the “why don’t you discuss this in [with] the class discussion. Oh well. )
I’m kind of going based on the whole idea of smoke as a means of travel – i.e – the purple smoke = transporting (?). / As for the castle crumbling – that would be another sensory perception; which if the curse works the way I’ve outlined – would mean the smoke ( curse ) / was already altering their reality. Which might be why Regina didn’t seem as fearful as Snow did during the enactment. ( I’m sorry if none of this reply makes sense – I’m writing it @ 4am & I’ve yet to go to sleep. Ugh. )
// Book price regulations. Hm.. you know that sounds really intriguing/interesting.

Yes, I saw the new Glee episode. The songs were very, very poor (imo) but the story arc for Karofsksy’s character took a bad turn which ended up being okay ( be still my little Kurtofsky-shipping heart.) / The bit at the end – as soon as it showed she was texting & driving I just thought “I know where this is going.” & then BAM!It depends.
If you like quirky / off-handed humor – then yes.
If not – I’d skip.
( Plus it takes until about ep.4 to get the pacing of the series right. )cruel_fortunaParticipant- My initial reply is to say both Henry & Emma would probably be apparitions ( visions ) of consequences/actions taken while everyone is inside this / under the influence of this veil.
( a media example would be ‘Inception’. The scene where Fischer follows the blonde in the red dress . He perceives a woman – when in reality – it’s Cobb. ) Something like that – whereby Emma & Henry would be the desires/wants of Charming/Snow. Then, since everyone in this ‘reality’ is interconnected, they too would share in their wants/dream(s) – which would lead to physical manifestation of the want.
Or – put more simply.
That’s a good question & I don’t quite know.

Berkeley Square *mini-series*cruel_fortunaParticipantWhen I first read the title for this episode, I automatically thought of the same-titled book by Joseph Conrad. Which then reminded me of the poem that T.S Elliot wrote based on the book entitled ‘The Wasteland.’
In that poem there is a certain passage, which I will henceforth quote.
“That corpse you planted last year in your garden,
Has it begun to sprout? Will it bloom this year?
Or has the sudden frost disturbed its bed?”With these thoughts in mind, I’m pretty sure it will be a Snow/Evil Queen episode.
With references to perhaps – how Regina’s mother used magic to ensure Snow’s mothers death so that Regina might be placed favorably & therein marry Snow’s father. Because really, what mother doesn’t want the best for their child? ( Even if it means having to murder – which, well, Regina obviously inherited her malicious streak from her mother. )cruel_fortunaParticipantThank you.
I hope he ends up having a larger purpose, because it’s an excuse to delve even deeper into Rumpelstiltskin’s past & see how his actions have consequences.
[ // I’ll be honest, if it were up to me, every ep. would just have Emma, Mr.Gold/Rumpelstiltskin, Kathryn/Abigail & MM/Snow in it. …maybe a little bit of Charming & Regina. Maybe. ]
