I’m assuming there will be plenty of Belle next season. The producers already stated that they plan on going forward with her story, so I’m expecting a lot of Belle in season 2. 😉
Definitely. Belle has become an integral piece in Mr. Gold’s personal puzzle. She’s too improtant to his story to just write out of the show or not address with the proper amount of screentime. So, I’m glad the writers decided to bring Belle back into the main plot in the finale. 😀

Ladies, I think we’ve just cracked the code to season 2. 😀
I think we have too. 😉 I can’t wait to see how Rumpel handles all of this. There will definitely be tons of drama, but I’ve never actually worried about the long term condition of Rumpel’s relationship with Belle. This show is obsessed with the idea of true love and happy endings, so Belle and Rumpel will get their happy ending eventually.
Someone (I forgot who, sorry) made an interesting point about how to solve the problem of Rumpelstiltskin and his lust for power. They basically argued that Rumpel must have his happy ending because he needs his own personal curse to be broken. The heroes will never be able to out-smart him or over-power him because he is the Dark One. Killing Rumpel is out of the question because all that would do is just create another Dark One. The only safe solution is for Rumpel to be cured by true love’s kiss. Belle’s kiss would destroy the Dark One’s powers once and for all, instead of just passing it down to another person.
Rumpel will always be more power than the heroes because they are basically playing by his rules. Everything the heroes have done has ended up benefiting Rumpel, either directly or indirectly. They’re damned if they, damned if they don’t. The only real solution would be for the powers of the Dark One to be vanquished in its entirety. And since killing Rumpel is out of the question, the only other option is true love. So, that very conundrum implies that Rumpel must have a happy ending.

KeymasterActually, the producers have stated numerous time that Rumpel is indeed a central character. In fact, they just said that in a recent interview. They didn’t even mention Regina. I think it’s over in the spoiler section for season 2. Lana even mentioned it.
The main characters are Emma, Snow, Charming, Rumpel and Regina. You don’t get your own promotional poster if you’re not a central character. The writers give Rumpel so many character centric episodes and put him in the middle of so many of the show’s plots for a reason. You don’t see Rumpel as a central character, and yet you complain that he’s in too many of the plots. If he’s in so many of the plots then it’s obvious that he’s a central figure.

The first episode being Rumple-centric is as likely as it being The Charmings-centric, I think. Just because we don’t like something doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make sense from the point of view of the writers. I just hope that the first episode won’t revolve around Charming family reunions only. That would be extremely boring to me. Besides their reunion can probably be done in one scene. I don’t see the need to drag it out. And getting back the kingdom, well I know it will take place in S2, but we all know the outcome of it. So it’s not interesting enough for the first episode in my opinion. The opening episode has to be exciting enough to get viewers hooked to watch the rest of the series. I’m just not sure that family reunions or getting back the kingdom are like that.
I guess for some people the final scene will always be about Rumple’s power hunger and period. It probably stems from the fact that they don’t like the character. But from the point of view of the plot that explanation doesn’t make sense. The guy worked on the curse for centuries, then willingly got himself transported to the land without magic where he was stuck for 28 years so that after these 28 years he could get back his magic. That’s ridiculous. I thought it was obvious that he’s got some agenda ( most probabably finding his son) and he released that magic because he needs to do something with it.I completely agree. I want to learn more about the magic and the curse. Family reunions can be wrapped up in one or two scenes. And I think the first episode should revolve around the mythology of the show and the cliffhanger. If the first episode was about Emma and her parents having a family reunion, I’d feel cheated. 😯 I want to know more about the overall plot and the what happened in the finale. Rumpel is the one who’s been pushing it all forward. So, I feel the first episode should be about him. He’s been the only one who’s been moving the plot forward. The others are just going along for the ride. We never get any real answers with the Snow and Charming centric episodes. Nothing is truly revealed that we already know.

Until it’s confirmed by the show, I’ll assume that Bae is his. Those comments were made by the evil knights who took innocent children to war and who beat Rumpel in front of his son. I’m not sure if they’re completely reliable. And the Dark One was only taunting Rumpel so that he would stab him with the dagger. I think RC even gave an interview confirming that’s what happened. They were just taunting him.
I also highly doubt that Rumpel killed Bae’s mother. The man was too afraid to fight in a war, so I don’t really see him killing his wife. Pre-Dark One Rumpel wasn’t the fighting kind at all.
I’m not sure if the theory that Rumpel killed his wife makes much sense. We’ve already seen that Rumpel isn’t willing to kill those he loves. That’s why he needed Regina to cast the Dark Curse. He didn’t want to kill any of his loved ones. If he did, then he would have killed Belle.

I’ve been thinking. Since the magic Mr. Gold brought into our world was created from true love, most of the characters on the show will be able to use it. Emma (because of her love for Henry), Snow and Charming, and even Rumpel (because of his love for Belle and Baelfire). Regina however, may be the only one left out. Regina’s true love, Daniel, is dead and she killed the only other person who she really loved: Her father, Henry. Yes, she has little Henry, but since the writers chose to have Emma’s kiss revive Henry, I think that was confirmation that Regina’s kiss probably wouldn’t have worked.
I actually think it’s pretty interesting that Regina has gone from being one of the most powerful people in the world, to one of the weakest. All because of the lack of love in her life.
I really like this theory. I find it very ironic that Regina may not be able to make the power of true love work. Hate has fueled everything that Regina has done up until this point. She’s not trying to find anyone or bring someone back to life. She’s just out for revenge. That find of hate tends to kill any last bit of love and compassion left in a person. And it was that hate that made it possible for her to cast the curse. Her hatred for Snow was so strong that it drove her to kill her own father. But now that this new magic has come to Storybrooke, she may have a hard time getting it to work. Her true love Daniel is dead, and she killed her father. So, she really doesn’t have anyone who she truly loves.
I just find it very convenient that the writers decided to reunite most of the characters with their true loves in the same episode where the magic of true love is brought into Storybrooke. This may be a clue that having true love in your life is what will make the magic work.

I think the main factor in making the new magic work is that you have to have true love in your life. Emma has that with Henry, Snow has Charming, and Rumpel has Belle and Bae. Regina is the only one who will probably not be able to use it. All the people she loved are dead. I think this new magic won’t require much skill or effort because the main ingredient is love.
That’s a very interesting theory. You may be right. Love is the most power magic in the world, but in order to bottle it, you need to have two lovers. And given the fact that magic is unpredictable in this world, it may not be quite as difficult as it was in Fairytale land. In Fairytale land, most of the magic was being used by fairies, warlocks or witches. But magic in this world is a lot more subtle. We’ve already seen that with Emma. We’ve seen her magic influence people, but we never actually see her make an effort to make her magic work. So, true love may be the same way. You don’t have to be a power witch to make it work. All you need is true love.
I find it delightfully ironic that Regina will be the only one in Storybrooke who won’t be able to use it.
