ParticipantFrom Gold Derby, May 22:
“Parrilla will be on the Emmy ballot this year in the Best Drama Supporting Actress race, the only actress from the show to be submitted in that category. She plays the dual roles of Regina Mills (mayor of Storybrooke) and the Evil Queen, who literally bursts onto the scene in the show’s first episode to interrupt the fairytale wedding of Snow White and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas).
In a video chat with Gold Derby, Parrilla talks about “The Stable Boy,” the episode from the show’s freshman season that she believes best showcases her work. That episode centers on the events that led to her character becoming so evil and features Oscar nominee Barbara Hershey as her wicked mother, who Parrilla lets slip is returning next season to flesh out her character even more.”darcyfarrow
ParticipantFrom Deadline Hollywood, May 31:
“To overcome Emmy’s bias against genre series, ABC’s freshman fairy tale will likely need more magic than even its strong ratings can conjure up. Worthy as the performances of Jennifer Morrison and Ginnifer Goodwin are, the show’s best chance to be recognized in a major category is probably a supporting actor nod for Rumplestiltskin’s nimble portrayer, Robert Carlyle, a 2006 contender for his work in the Lifetime movie Human Trafficking.”

ParticipantFrom Goldderby.com, May 18:
“Carlyle will be on the Emmy ballot in the Best Drama Actor category at this year’s Emmys. Asked about what his likely episode submission would be if he was nominated, Carlyle immediately narrows in on “Skin Deep,” which Carlyle likes to call “At home with Rumple” and which essentially reboots the classic “Beauty and the Beast” tale by recasting Carlyle’s Rumplestiltskin as the Beast opposite “Lost” alum Emilie de Ravin as Belle.
“You really see everything. You see all the bits that have been missing about Rumplestiltskin over the previous 11 episodes” enthuses Carlyle, who credits the episode’s writer Jane Espenson with giving his character a real showcase to let loose in. “You see the sadness in the man, you can see the fact that he’s intensely lonely,” Carlyle says, adding that the episode “gave him a tremendous platform to express myself” and “in terms of my entire career, that’s the best 42 minutes of TV I’ve ever been involved in.”

ParticipantHere are the rules for the Emmys:
“It is the decision of the entrant whether to enter as a lead or supporting performer. Series performers should enter according to their lead or supporting place in the body of work aired during the eligibility year. However, only those performers with “guest star” billing, or who are contracted as such, may enter in a “guest” performer category. While the performer’s choice is generally approved, the Primetime Awards Committee determines the final category eligibility.”
I’ve read that there’s a lot of fine-lining when it comes to how an actor is billed, what order the names appear in the credits, whose name gets listed before the title (e.g. “Tom Hanks in ‘Splash'” vs. “‘Splash’ starring Tom Hanks”), etc. It all gets written into the contracts. It gets really interesting when a supporting actor steals the show, as when Fonzie became the big guy on “Happy Days.” I suppose the contracts then get renegotiated. Mr. Gold would love all this! By the way, the concepts and the terminology (“star,” “lead,” “supporting”) go way back–I was reading a book about traveling acting companies in the 1800s, and the book talked about how those terms were used then, and within the industry the terms have very specific meanings.

ParticipantI would like to think that August met Bae , especially if we never get to see Bae again. If that’s the case, then I hope whole-heartedly that the new magic will revive August, and that he will go to Gold and tell him whatever he knows about Bae. Even if August and Bae met long ago, it would be an encouragement to Gold to know that Bae’s in this world, and any stories August could tell about Bae, no matter how trivial, would be a comfort.
One thing keeps gnawing at me, though : if August met Bae, why did August ask Gold, “Do I look like him at all?” And if August talked to Bae about the dagger, he would know it was pointless to try to trick Gold. August would have known enough that he could have said, “I’m a friend of Bae’s. Please help me for his sake.” Just a few words of proof would’ve been sufficient (“Bae told me his mother’s name was …”–there are a thousand details only Bae and Rumple would know) . Gold was so ready to believe the con that he would’ve greeted August like a second son if August could only say, “I know Bae.”

There’s actually a theory going around that says the Blind Witch is actually Rumpel’s first wife. Does it make sense? No. But do I like it? YES!!!!
Now that I’ve had a few more minutes to consider this theory: EEEEEWWWWWW!!
