Steve Harvey: “Rumplestiltskin, introduce your family.”
Rumple: “My lovely and centuries-younger wife Belle, formerly a princess from an ogre-overrun realm, now an escapee from a mental institution. Next to her, the in-laws … Snow White, formerly a princess, until her evil queen stepmother conned a genie to kill the king. In the middle–well, we just call him Charming. Formerly a prince until his adoptive father decided to behead him. And down on the end, my son’s baby mama, Emma–“

Steve: “Let me guess : formerly a princess.”

Rumple: “Until her parents hid her in an enchanted tree. Now she’s the town sheriff.”

Steve: “And what do you do for a living, Rumplestiltskin?”

Rumple: “I used to be the master of dark magic, the most powerful and dangerous man in all the land. Now I mostly collect rent, repo vehicles and beat younger men up with my cane. Oh, and play pranks on the mayor.”

    I have two possible explanations.
    1. While in FTL, Rumple planted certain thoughts so deep into his psyche that the curse couldn’t blot them out. One was the tea cup (so he wouldn’t forget Belle) and one was “find a way bring Emma to SB.”
    2. The easier explanation: the idea of Henry’s adoption didn’t originate with Gold; it originated with the Blue Fairy , who then passed it on to Gold (probably very slowly and subtly so he wouldn’t even realize he was being manipulated) . As to how BF remembered Emma/Henry once she arrived in SB, maybe her magic was strong enough, or maybe she wrote the storybook and included Emma and Henry in it (and then removed that chapter before the book left her hands) .

Both explanations are clumsy; it would be so much cleaner to say Gold kept his FTL memories all along.

*chuckle* I want to see the Charming-Rumple family vs. the dwarves on “Family Feud.”

Ruby will leave SB out of fear that in wolf form, she might hurt a friend.
Astrid will leave the convent to sail around the world with her new husband Leroy.
Regina will try to make Hopper her new lapdog.
We’ll learn that Gold never had a first name.
Gold will place Belle in the convent to keep her out of the line of fire for the time being. This will lead to a truce between him and the BF/MS.
Gold and Belle will have an air-clearing, soul-binding heart -to-heart talk, after which Belle will decide whether to stay with him.
The last voice we hear in the series will be Rumple’s.
Rumple will slap another sword this season.

Wow, so many issues involved there. My guess is they ‘ll be grandparents but not parents. Unless somehow Bae appears again as a 14-year-old, but the common feeling seems to be that when he’s found again, it will be as an adult (and that seems to be Gold’s expectation). Or maybe they’ll be foster grandparents for Henry. Hmm, now I’m wondering if Snow and Charming might want another child, since they missed out on raising Emma.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense: surely magic that’s made from true love, and especially the love of Snow and Charming, would permit–nay, encourage–kissing. And surely Rumple would, if it’s at all possible, create a magic that can’t be taken away by a kiss.

Although we haven’t seen any of it yet and so can only speculate, I ‘m thinking the new magic isn’t a curse, and therefore the true-love’s-kiss antidote doesn’t apply–in which case Rumple can kiss freely without losing his magic. At least, I’m sure hoping that’s the case. Series end is an awfully long time for us Rumbellers to wait 🙂

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
In the SB forest, Graham comes upon Gold, dressed in his full suit and a leather apron and carrying a shovel. We see a flash of Gold’s dry wit: when Graham says he thought Gold was a wolf, Gold asks, “Did I forget to shave?” Gold says he’s doing a bit of gardening. Graham tells Gold about his wolf vision. “They say that dreams are memories…memories of another life,” Gold says. “I never rule out anything.” Is Gold giving Graham a nudge toward remembering FTL?

In FTL Regina says there are two types of people : wolves and sheep. We learned in the last episode that Charming is a shepherd; we will later learn pre-curse Rumple was a woolspinner.

Rewatching the episode, I ‘m watching for signs of when Regina acquired magic. There’s no evidence she had magic before Snow ‘s father’s death; otherwise she wouldn’t have needed the genie. I hope season 2 brings us that story; it surely will reveal a lot about Regina’s relationships.

When we saw him drinking the flask, he’s not his usual flamboyant, theatrical self. I think, at this point in time, he’s tired of being the Dark One, and I think it’s safe to say when this episode happened, it was long before ‘Skin Deep.’ He’s probably still tortured by the way he treated Belle but he still has to put on a show as the Dark One.

Thus, I think whatever is in the flask, helps put him in the right frame of mind to perform as Rumpelstiltskin.

I think he's hurting for the families he's dealing with . He depends on the flask whenever he's come to take a child away. (Or, you could could say in the case of the Cinderella story, he knows about the con and he 's about to surrender himself to prison.) In either case, Rumple isn't as tough as he wants to appear.
