ParticipantGold. I could give a long list of reasons, but they all boil down to the same thing: Robert Carlyle’s performance.

ParticipantI’d like to have Gold’s cash register, after the newly awakened FTL folk come for their momentos.

ParticipantI can’t wait to see Henry’s reaction when he learns that Gold is Rumple. That will tell us if it’s true Rumple’s stories aren’t in the book.

ParticipantPerhaps the fairies wrote the book as part of their final preparations–a history for the descendants of the FTL heroes and heroines– but diminished Rumple’s role in the book so readers wouldn’t make an anti- hero of him (or maybe the fairies just don’t think much of him.)
Maybe Rumple wrote the book and left his personal stories out so no one would realize his motives and interfere with his quest to find Bae.
Or maybe the fairies wrote the book in full and Rumple got a hold of it and removed his personal stories, again to protect his quest, or to prevent enemies like Regina from attacking him through Bae.
From the segment we heard MM read to Henry, I think the purpose of the book is to promote true love. And based on Rumple’s speech to Charming about the necessity of protecting true love, he seems like the man most likely to write a sales pitch for love…but also likely to leave his own tales out since both ended in heartbreak. If the storybook suddenly appears with a Rumple-finds-Belle-again chapter, we’ll know who did it (perhaps co-authored by Belle).darcyfarrow

Maleficent was sleeping, I believe. There is at least one reference to Emma doing something to wake a sleeping dragon, whether it’s her arrival in SB or fighting with Regina over Henry. So, just like the rest of the town, Maleficent has been out of it for the past 28 years…and now she’s dead.
And can we get the library back now, pretty please?

ParticipantJust how will this new magic affect everyone? If it’s the magic of true love, does that mean everyone’s hearts will be filled with goodness and joy? (Regina’s final smirk would suggest otherwise.)

This is a totally off-the-wall theory, but I wonder if Rumpelstiltksin is trying to bring back Baelfire from the afterlife.
I think this is possible, I think Baelfire is already dead because he went to a land without magic centuries before the dark curse was enacted.
Oh no, let it not be so! I’m sure a lot of the fandom would go into permanent mourning. But we ‘ve seen no evidence that he ‘s dead, just that he doesn’t seem to be in SB and Gold hasn’t been able to leave to search for him–yet. Gold doesn’t think he ‘s dead; otherwise he wouldn’t have fallen for August’s scam.
I’m guessing Gold’s going to use this magic to locate Bae and transport himself there, after which he’ll retire to Florida with his now-intact family and spend the rest of his years sipping mimosas on the beach in his gold speedos.

I’m not so sure that it’s love that Belle feels for Rumpel.
If she didn’t really love him, her kiss wouldn’t have begun breaking the Dark One curse.
Now that a new kind of magic has been created, the old rules of magic may no longer apply. And if this new magic really is, as Rumple believes, the power of true love, and if it really is the most powerful force, a curse is no longer needed. To get this new magic to work, surely no killing would be involved; surely there’s no place for such evil acts in a true-love spell (although I suppose Regina will have to find some way to corrupt this new magic, or she just wouldn’t be Regina.)

ParticipantThe first real heart-to-heart talk between Gold (or will he revert back to Rumple?) and Belle–the apologies, the explanations, the plans for the future. His heart is open to her now; surely he’ll tell her the tale he promised her in FTL, and when he does, their bond wil be solidified.

But it is a dream belonging to the dreamer.
That’s why I think it’s significant that Gold wasn’t in the vigilante posse. Either Regina thinks, despite what she called Gold’s violation of their agreement concerning Kathryn, that she and Gold are still allies, or something else is going on. Regina has taken away Gold’s happy ending too, whether he knows it or not, by kidnapping Belle, so he would have a legitimate claim on her conscience too. I think his absence from her dream reveals something about the relationship she thinks she has with him–or about her plans for him .
