ParticipantEQ: “I’m conflicted.” Understatement of the year!
Gold: “I would say you think you know exactly who she is.” Such a slippery statement! Not only shows Gold knows how Regina thinks, he also knows more than she does.

ParticipantThe numbers do look like Dewey classification numbers, but I can ‘t detect a connection between them and the words. For instance, 302.5 in Dewey is the classification for “the relation between an individual and society “–nothing to do with “foyer.”
But I suspect the writers have used Dewey before. In “Lost” the bearing that a ship is supposed to follow to get to the island hapens to be the same number that in Dewey represents immigration and colonization (325).
By the way, am I the only one who wonders what Emma’s done about that gorgeous apartment? We’ve never seen her cancel her lease so I’ve been wondering if she’s kept the place, just in case SB doesn’t work out.

ParticipantI suspect you’re right, that the adoption wasn’t legal. A shady adoption would give Gold a built-in control device over Regina and a back door in case he ever decided Henry should be with another parent. A very Goldian kind of scheme.
Hmm! I think I’ll change my screen saver at work to read “Think like Gold: build back doors.”

ParticipantWould anyone out there care to adopt an episode or two and write the Rumple report? If so, would you please claim the episode before you begin the reseach, to avoid duplication? (*standing aside for the “Skin Deep” stampede* :D) .

ParticipantCatch Emma’s reaction when MM tells her Henry thinks she’s Snow White. It’s as if Emma’s having a flash of memory.

ParticipantFrom “The Thing You Love the Most”: what is the background story on Maleficent and EQ’s relationship? Where is Malificent in SB? If she involves herself in the final battle, will she side with Regina or Emma?

ParticipantThe Pilot, cont’d
His skin is gold and it glitters. His teeth are rotten. His eyes are unusually large. He wears dark leather.
He charges a fee for his information : not money or freedom, but more information : the name of SW’s baby. “The queen has created a powerful curse.” He refers to the land they’ll be sent to as a horrible place, a prison, where time stops and “we suffer for all eternity,” having been stripped of all they love. He states that the only person who can do anything about the curse is the baby. He is unfazed when PC threatens him with a sword. On its 28th birthday “the child will find you and the final battle will begin. ” He becomes enraged when PC and SW leave without fulfilling their end of the bargain. He knows the baby is a girl. SW tells him her name and he repeats it with a blissful expression.
The dwarves question whether Rumple can be trusted (it’s interesting to note the wording : they don’t question Rumple’s honesty bur rather his trustworthiness) .
Interestingly, PC stands up for Rumple. “If you believed him about the curse then you must believe him about our child. She will be the savior.”We meet Gold as he’s collecting rent–in cash–from Granny at her B and B. His first words are “Emma! What a lovely name.” He’s a well-dressed, graying man in his 50s with a gold tooth and a gold-tipped cane; he walks with a limp on his right side. He’s soft-spoken, with a slight Scottish accent, and he politely welcomes Emma to SB, with a gaze that suggests he knows a secret. He makes Granny nervous. Ruby says “he owns this place” and Granny says he owns the town.

ParticipantThe Pilot
Snow says “he can see the future” and can “guarantee that our child will be safe”
Charming says “he” is dangerous.
Prison guard warns SW and PC against allowing Rumple to see them or know their names. “If he knows your name he’ll have power over you.”
The guard calls out “Rumplestiltskin” and we now know who the “he” refers to.
Our first view of Rumple: he drops nimbly from the ceiling. He ‘s in a dark cage
. His first words are “No you don’t” as he corrects the guard’s statement “I have a question for you.” In those few words we learn that he’s highly perceptive and very attentive to wording: you must be precise when you speak to him. (Perhaps he, like Emma, has a “superpower” for detecting lies.)
Despite their hoods and the darkness, he identifies SW and PC. He speaks in a high-pitched, somewhat mocking voice and giggles. He gestures frequently; his hands and fingers move in elegant sweeps. He is impatient with those who underestimate him. He already knows why SW and PC have come : “You want to know about the queen’s plan.”darcyfarrow
ParticipantStevie Nicks’ songs are my Rumple triggers, especially “Sorcerer” (“Sorcerer, who is the master?”) and “Silver Springs” (“Time cast a spell on you but you won’t forget me/I know that I could have loved you but you would not let me”).
Sundays are my OUAT triggers. When I see the Sunday newspaper on my doorstep, I’m ready for the night to come.

ParticipantThere are some indications that August is OUAT ‘s Jack Shepard. His license plate is 23, which is Jack’s number. He ran off to Phuket to escape his responsibilities, as Jack did. He feels that he’s a disappointment to his father, as Jack did. He’s in a faith vs. science dispute with another character. So I’m thinking that, like Jack, he may come to accept that his destiny is to sacrifice himself for the common good.
