Wow wow wow, what an info-rich episode!
I think I love that Emma is now trusting August…that brings her a step closer to belief. I’m convinced now that Gold is setting Regina up–as he says, perception is everything–and we’re not seeing the full picture yet. I love that the DA is someone Rumple had deals with–potential for some spillover between SB and FTL perhaps. I like the parallels between Regina’s and Snow’s romances, down to the rings that each has.
What I didn’t like: no Rumple.
I think I would have felt sorry for her if she had placed her anger where it belongs. Even though she seems powerless against Mother Dearest (apparently magic is acquired, not inherited, because Regina doesn’t seem to have any) she didn’t put up much of a fight.
Now I’m eager to see how Regina acquiesce her magic–and if she turns it on Mama.
I’m calling…
*Rumple’s love potion is the antidote for the curse and Gold has the potion.
*Gold and Emma will do something shady that will get the murderer charge dropped. Emma will feel guilty but will realize that it’s the only way to beat Regina.
*The thing that Gold buried in the woods may play a part in getting the charges dropped–part of a blackmail scheme perhaps.
*We’ll learn that August was SB’s librarian but when Regina discovered the Storybook in the library she closed the building and drove August out of town. He managed to pass the book to MM for her to give to Henry when he was old enough for it.
And who gave the hat its magic to begin with? Jefferson is obviously a master of its use, but didn’t he say something to Regina about not being able to create a magic hat?
I’ll bet we don’t have long to wait. August seems fully aware of who has the Knowledge…and whom he can trust. He revealed quite a lot to Henry. Now if only the boy will ask him “Which person in this book are you?”
By “the kiss gambit” I mean the idea that falling in love would make Rumple/Gold weak, take away his will to fight. But I think Regina realizes she can’t manipulate Belle emotionally again–Belle is too fragile to be effectively controlled. So to use Belle to control Gold, Regina will have to threaten Belle’s life. And she can only play that card once, because as soon as Belle is safe, Gold will come tearing after Regina, so the stakes are going to have to be huge, like a last-ditch effort for Regina to escape. Whichever way it goes, I’m thinking we won’t se the Rumbelle reunion until the final season…but I’m counting on that reunion kiss. As with Lost, I can live with an ending that doesn’t answer all the series’ questions, as long as the characters get their loved ones back and find peace.
