Awhile back someone postulated that perhaps the Genie we know from the story isn’t the Genie from Aladdin but rather Jafar, after Aladdin and Jasmine had defeated him.

I think someone put up a picture of the Genie we met against Cartoon jafar and there is a LOT of similarity to the looks. I’m going to think that is exactly what the writers meant to imply. I don’t see Blue Genie reacting to Regina at all the way this one did, willing to kill for love, let alone the guy who’d set him free.
Oh I totally agree about the physical similarities & you are so right about how he was so Ok with the whole assassination thing. Also the only time that I can remember the Genie/Mirror being a little concern about something evil that Regina was going to or did, was when he told her that she should have let Grace keep the rabbit plush.

As to the quote, I think there a few things to say.
There are layers to the Rumple/Belle relationship. It’s a set of stairs if you will (omg, what I am doing…go with me…follow the crazy).
Step One: He’s a beast who has taken me captive BUT maybe there is something there.
Step Two: He spared Robin’s life so maybe he’s not a total monster
Step Three: He gave me a library. He’s not the man I thought he was. He is more than a beast
Step Four: Curtain scene. He’s a man. A good man with whom I am falling passionately in love. Now I truly see him. And that’s when she finally declares “You’re not a monster” once the curtains are down and the light (sun/Belle) are shining in on our less green, brightly colored Rumple.I do like those stairs π That’s actually how I have the Robin part in my timeline, I admit that the curtains have been & will continue to hunt me from a little corner in the room dedicated to OUaT inside my brain. π Btw, does any of you have a twitter account? I don’t have one but maybe someone could tweet the writer (Adam I think) & ask or maybe tweet the twitter account that is given at the end of the podcast. Who know maybe they’ll answer.

edit to daybreak_fairy: Hey, Belle herself describes love as being “many layered”. So maybe one of those layers is “You’re not so bad” followed by “What on earth is wrong with you” and just underneath that is “You’re just a sweetheart aren’t you” and then “What did I ever see in you”? Of course the only layer the fans are concerned about is the one just under the leather pants. π
I agree that those layers are a possibility. lol I’m a big fan of Rumple but not to that degree π
but I think the events of Lacey are sandwhiced in between the big events of Skin Deep, being Belle coming to the castle and the curtain scene.
I agree with this, to me it makes more sense that the curtain scene was after Robin’s part. Lacey’s FTL (the fancy yellow dress while cleaning around, the tension & obvious anger between Rumple & Belle) vs Curtain scene (simple blue dress while cleaning, no tension nice interactions between them). The thing that doesn’t make scene are the freaking curtains.
Now, in the podcast the interviewer said that she was glad that this Lacey FTL parts filled gaps in Rumbelle’s relationship (not in this words exactly). & here’s the writer’s whole response:

βFor us when we did Skin Deep last year you know you only have a certain amount of time in an episode & for us the real inspiration for this episode is βwhat was the first moment that Belle really started to look at him?β. You know of course when she fell off the drapes & they looked at each other but for us, this was the moment when she realized he was more than a beast.β
Now, to me it seems like he said that the curtain scene happened before the Robin stuff. But English is my 2nd language so I’m going to ask you guys, did he mean that?
Btw, I’m sorry I tend to post after a long while, it’s just that I tend to do several things at the same time.
daybreak_fairyParticipantI would like to be the keeper of the Evil Queen’s mysterious glass tube with red liquid & little pyramid. Here’s a picture, I know that the pyramid seems to be part of the candle, but it’s not, in another scene there’s a shot from the side where it’s more obvious that it’s a little pyramid. Btw, this picture is from Hat Trick. Thanks in advance!

But the way he treats her in the curtain scene and then for the majority of Lacey doesn’t add up. He is clearly already fond of her during the curtain scene and she is of him. In the majority of Lacey, up until he spares Robin, they are fighting and arguing and he drags her to the woods to watch him kill. Him sparing Robin is what allows for the curtain scene.
I just heard the official podcast episode for Lacey & at 11:45 one of the authors says:
βand for us the real inspiration for this episode is βwhat was the first moment that Belle really started to look at him?β. You know of course when she fell off the drapes & they looked at each other but for us, this was the moment when she realized he was more than a beast.βBecause of this I think that the curtain scene must have happened before Robin’s story. I do believe that the way Rumple & Belle treat each other is kind of inconsistent. Maybe when Skin Deep was filmed there was still no 100% certainty that the show was going to be renewed for a second season & the castle scenes have limited time so Rumple’s & Belle’s interactions had to be quicker to make them fall in love. Or maybe their relationship in the castle was like some of those “bipolar” relationships when a couple one day adore each other, at some point later hate each others guts & some time later they adore each other again. π
daybreak_fairyParticipantThat is sooooo cute!

The only sure thing we know about Jack’s tale is that it happened before James died (but obviously after he grew up). I had to pick somewhere to put it, and based my decision on a couple things. First, despite the fact that time froze for 28 years, Jack’s corpse is just skeletal when Emma encounters it. No clue how long it takes for a corpse to become a skeleton, but that suggested that some time had passed. Anton seemed to have been alone for some time with his bitterness and grief. And lastly, James got away with some significant booty, but the kingdom was desperately broke again by the time Charming got “hired” to replace James. So I figured I’d give James and George a little time to spend the cash.
Ok, I like your reasoning they are all good points. I really didn’t think about the time it could have taken James & George to go bankrupt again. π

That might be off, but I think that Snow looks to be only 18 or 20 when Leopold was killed. That gives us 8-10 years before the curse, and Snow had to have been on the lam much of that time. I think you’re right that Snow probably wasn’t on her own for quite that long–might have to adjust those events.
I was thinking that maybe Snow could have spent a year with Red. To me Snow didn’t look so “tough” as when she met Charming, so I was thinking that maybe she did some kind of training after meeting Red. But I think that the next episode may shed some light in that part of the timeline.

Chiefly because Grace doesn’t seem to have aged at all, so it seems to be closer to the curse. I think the key clue there is when we can pin down Henry Sr.’s presence in FTL–but we have no idea when he wound up in Wonderland or why, either. With a lot of the more independent stories in FTL, I’m not sure where to put them.
Ok.
Thanks for responding π

I haven’t read Tsubasa, although I was in to CLAMP back in highschool- but I guess that’s now become the “old school” era. Haha, I guess a lot of those characters were recycled in to Tsubasa, right?
Yep. Although they are not 100% the same character like Chi from Chobits.
daybreak_fairyParticipantOMG?!?! A hero?!?!? A killer you mean!!! Oooooh Regina π Thanks for the link!
