Jiminy’s JournalParticipant
Sydney does NOT release Belle from Regina’s asylum at the end of the season.
You mean Jefferson, right?
[adrotate group="5"]Jiminy’s JournalParticipantI like to believe it is in the Realm of Darkness from 6B. Which would explain where Fiona was able to get all those kids.
Jiminy’s JournalParticipantI sorta agree/disagree with both of your points, HJ and Gaultheria.
I think they’re good at worldbuilding in short bursts They aren’t the sort of writers who can maintain a lengthy story that is intricate and has to have established rules in order for the story to flow. But if you think of each arc and season as its own thing and not connected to any other arcs or seasons, they no they aren’t terrible.
I think anyone would have trouble keeping a story premise going for seven years, but that’s not an issue if it gets reset every episode.
And this is where I disagree with you. Look at fantasy novelists who spend years, decades, heck even entire careers in one world that must be carefully maintained in order for the story to progress from A to Z. And usually that’s not collaborative, JKR for instance did not have a writing partner. A and E have each other and entire room full of other writers.
TV and books are different mediums but good writers should flesh out their world well in advanced, which is why I think S1 is the most structurally sound–they had years to plot that one. S2 and S3 to an extent benefit from the long prep period for S1. As we got closer to the end, that’s when the cracks began to show and then fall to pieces utterly.
One key is planning things ahead of time.
Jiminy’s JournalParticipantSo did I miss Doctor Whale and Pinocchio? Or were they just being credited for the reused archive footage? Or were they just completely cut?
I never saw either, though I did see Tony Amondola in the group shot very briefly. Perhaps it was for the reused archive footage, then.
Pinocchio was in the group shot, played by Jack Davies, rather than Eion Bailey.
Jiminy’s JournalParticipant1) What was your favorite all time episode of OUAT? (feel free to pick more than one if you really can’t decide between a few)
Desperate Souls, Skin Deep, The Return, Tallahassee, and Manhattan. Four of which are Espensodes.
2) What was your least favorite all time episode of OUAT? (feel free to pick more than one if you really can’t decide between a few)
Two words: Quiet. Minds.
3) What was your favorite and least favorite season of OUAT?
I only saw a couple episodes of Season 7, but the rest of my rankings are:
S1
WL
2B
2A
3A
4B
4A
2C
3B
5A
5B
6B
6A4) Who was your favorite and least favorite MAJOR (meaning, regular cast member) character?
Favorite: Nealfire.
Least favorite: Prime!Hook.5) Who was your favorite and least favorite MINOR (meaning only made brief appearances, either a single episode or more but never a regular cast member)?
Favorite: Lily.
Least favorite: A lot of the characters I’m thinking of are ones I would consider major (at least, to their respective arcs), so…Blackbeard?6) What do you think OUAT’s biggest success story was? And what was their biggest mistake?
Success: Baelfire is Henry’s father.
Mistake: Killing Baelfire.7) Would you recommend OUAT to someone?
I have, but that was before it went downhill. I often recommend WL.
8) What is the legacy of OUAT?
As A/E said, the fans. That and how it killed off the character that’s the reason for the whole show halfway through its run.
9) Grade the entire series!
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
Look, Naveen Andrews is Jafar and any attempts to tell me otherwise will be met with the rolling of eyes. If the writers were going to recast Jafar then at least give him some sort of backstory and make him worth my time; make him a totally different character from the WL version. The Jafar of OUATinWL was incredible and occupied that special place of villain but sympathetic. This S6 Jafar was completely lackluster and I only vaguely remember what he wanted and what purpose he served.
Yep.
Jiminy’s JournalParticipant(still mad about Anastasia and Will, btw)
Just do what I do and say that, while the original intention was for OUaTiW to be set during S2, the events of S4 retconned that to during S5.
And that Maleficent was borrowing the bug. Because…reasons. Whatever.
Jiminy’s JournalParticipantYeah, those photos were from this episode, it looks like.
May 14, 2018 at 12:13 pm in reply to: EW May 14: Bosses Discuss 25 Most Surprising Twists in Series #347308Jiminy’s JournalParticipant18. Merlin was trapped as a tree for centuries.
Such a twist.
While they at least mention that Rumpel’s Henry’s grandfather, they forgot the BIGGEST one:
Rumpelstiltskin had the Evil Queen cast the Dark Curse to find his son Baelfire, who’s the father of the boy she would go on to adopt, a boy who’s birth mother — the daughter of her arch-nemesis Snow White — is destined to break that very Curse.
Jiminy’s JournalParticipantLily was a welcome surprise.
How do you know it was Lily? I thought it was Mal since they seem to be going for a Sleeping Beauty type of story with the TLK couple.
On second glance, it seems to be a blend of Maleficent (horns) and Lily (spikes).
Jiminy’s JournalParticipantI think it might be in Part 2.
