I found this adorbable SF fic on AO3, and I just had to share it.

“Fake Fiances and Free Cake” by Of Princes and Savages

    Its Summary:

Emma Swan doesn’t need a man to be happy. But she does need one to get into the Bridal Fair and sample some free wedding cakes. OR at least a “fiancé” of some description. So does the guy standing beside her eyeing the same poster, come to think of it…

It also includes some cameos from some other couples.

Could they be the weavers from The Emperor’s New Clothes?

I’m not sure how I feel about it either. I guess I have to see it in context, but usually when shows age up a child it’s in order to sexualize them and…no thanks.

Considering it’s Poison Ivy, that’s probably what it is, and I am very creeped out by it. Of course, they could just be bringing in Pamela Isley as a separate character, who would be closer in age to Jerome, to set up a love triangle with Harleen Quinzel, but still. It’s no secret that Poison Ivy is a sexualized character in the comics, but can Heller, et al. find no other way to use her?

Ways to use Poison Ivy that aren’t sexualized:
    • Have her deal with problems controlling her powers, Elsa-style.
    • Explore the possibility that the plants she creates are an extension of her, Flame Princess-style.
    • Have her advocate for environmental reform.
    • Have her take down chemical companies (Ace Chemicals, perhaps?).

Feel free to add to this list.

Looks like we’re going back to the format of Seasons 1 and 2, which at this point I’m pretty much all for. The split-Season format has been very hit or miss. Not to mention, the whole Untold Stories aspect has the potential to last an entire Season. Here are my guesses as to why they’ve decided to do this:

    1) First and foremost, Channing Dungey said that she wants to do away with the long winter hiatuses. Seems like she thinks having their main shows off the air for 3 months during the Winter does more harm than good. Especially when their attempts at bridge shows performed less than desired.
    2) Adam and Eddy realize that this very well may be their final Season, so the Season 1 and 2 format allows them to have more variety in terms of story ideas. The Untold Stories also open the door to introduce different literary characters in a way that would make sense.
    3) Adam and Eddy have actually listened to the criticisms of the split Seasons, and their response is to revisit the old format from Seasons 1 and 2.

I do still wish we had Agent Carter to split up AoS, though. Agents has actually benefitted from having split seasons. But that’s a discussion for WtL7.

Hook: He should have left after the Neverland arc ended.

Neal and Robin: Come back to life!

    Emma: Turn back to normal.

Rumpel: Should not have gone back to being the Dark One.

Belle: I agree with The Watcher. Get something to do.

    PoCs: Appear and live.

Emma was in juvy. Her records were sealed because she was in juvy. So what? That doesn’t make Neal way older then her.

See right there is the inconsistence in the writing, they said emma was in Juvie in S1, but they say she was in Juvie in 1996, when she was 13, and then August mentions prison to neal, not juvie, he says to neal “she got 11 months on a low level security facility”. So shows the same inconsistences in the writing, what they had for s1, on next seasons doesnt fit.

I don’t disagree that there is an inconsistency in the writing. I really think that Emma has only said that she was 18 one time, when she was talking to Ella, and that was during Season 1 when Emma always lied about Henry’s birth and who his father was. All the other information points to Emma really being 17. Don’t get me wrong, the writers are idiots. They didn’t really think about what they were writing at the time, like they don’t think about anything.

Though, i really do think that it is all completely irrelevant because, like i said, Emma and Neal’s relationship was one of equals in every way and that is what matters.

    Writers cannot do math.

Some time ago, I posted some crazy theory about how there was an unseen time skip during season 1. It was when we were discussing Henry’s birthday. Basically, I said this:

Henry was born on 8/15/02. Characters rounded up his age in the pilot.
S1 takes place from 10/22/11 to May 2013.
S2 takes place from May 2013 to March 2014.

My entire logic comes from a scene in “Skin Deep” where Ashley drinks alcohol, despite saying she was 19 in “The Price of Gold.”

Fun reminder that this is absolutely something they did in 5A (though, as usual, nothing came of it and there’s no commentary on from the writers themselves)
