ParticipantI can now verify that Macy is not an axe murderer :p and also, apparently sometime in the 40s, The Hat was with the Carousel
Of Progress family… which we are pretty sure screws up the timeline. 😉Cause this story needs some mending & a better happy ending...

ParticipantIt’s not, actually. The Earful Tower (water tower w ears) was the original icon of DHS (then MGM,) though the Chinese Theatre (behind the hat) was often used. The hat was put up for a promotion many years ago and never removed, so it became kind of a defacto thing.

ParticipantYou spend enough time at these parks, in tired enough states, you start taking the shortest route between two points even if it does involve walking under giant brain-sucking hats :p

ParticipantHave a hat, y’all. Pretty sure I lost some brain cells (or at least some sanity) to the thing this morning.
And I just keep randomly bursting out laughing. We are in a park with +/-20k people a day. We were in a class of thirty. Not to mention there are probably only a handful of people in the whole world who would WEAR a shipping shirt. Hi-larious!!

ParticipantBTW I don’t *actually* think The Hat caused the shirts… just for the record. ;). My crazy does have limits!
LOL Macy! Is it really going this time?! I know it’s been rumored forever!!
I think we need to get some shirts made before tonight, lol!!

ParticipantOf all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world…
Why did it happen? Because we walked under the hat. The giant, multi-story magic sucking hat. And roomie said to me, “Are you sure you are okay walking under the hat?” And I said mockingly, “Well, I don’t have magic, so I’ll be fine.” To which she replied, “Yes, but things tend to happen to us…” and I just shrugged. (She’s right. Weird/crazy stuff happens to us all.the.time.)
So when we ended up next to some CSers, I just bit my tongue really hard, then sat behind them and laughed my butt off at the weirdness that is my life :p (I took a picture. I’ll share it later.)

ParticipantThings you cannot make up: I am honest to goodness standing next to someone wearing a CS shirt. (I am biting my tongue and acting normal. Be proud.)
ETA: Oh. It’s actually a group of three girls. I, um . Hm.

ParticipantEmma’s only means of transportation is that car.
She doesn’t have access to the official sherriff’s car anymore? And her feet don’t work?
Obviously, from the perspective of how that scene was blocked, yeah, the car was the logical thing for running away. But it was the writers who chose it to be THAT car, and had her hop in the car and drive away to hide instead of literally running away. By the time she got down the walk, no one was following her anymore so she certainly could’ve ducked around the corner to somewhere. The concept of that scene is “Emma freaks out and runs and hides.” There are a myriad of ways that could have been accomplished, but this is how the writers chose to do it.
You might be right, and maybe it means nothing at all. Certainly, there is little-to-no reason to have faith in, well, anything at all on this show. As a fanbase, we’ve been quite abused, and particularly from the perspective of the fanbase that supports the endgame that was intended from the start of the series. I get that, I soooo do. But I also sit here and watch them acknowledge that relationship in both overt and covert ways and I just am not convinced it means “nothing.” Obviously, I am alone in this rowboat and I am okay with that – but I’m still gonna holler to shore about my perspective over here in my sad lonely rowboat.
Mostly, I was just surprised with all of the fuss on tumblr last week when we simply saw that she still had the second chain on, that it wasn’t discussed this week. Phee’s right – it’ll be nice when we’re able to look back and say, “this was A Thing” and “that was a red herring.” We can’t right now, so primarily what I cling to is that the volume of references to the dead guy is really out of line with him being killed off to perpetuate another TL story. I’m counting a baker’s dozen, which averages out to once an episode. NO other dead character is remembered like that on this show.
Like with the photo, to me what it showed is what we’ve been asking for – emotional connection, emotional reaction, rememberance of that relationship. Until such a time if he comes back – if that ever exists – that’s the most we’re going to get as a fanbase. More primarily, though, the consistent reminders stoke the little fire in me (and, depending on the size of the reminder, also the GA audience) that says we’re not done with this story.
I am totally in support of others refusing to hope, if that’s what works best for you. I am still choosing to watch this show from a SF-as-endgame perspective and week after week I expect that to get shot down, but more often than not, fuel is added to that fire. This is just another log tossed on there, for me. I reacted to it emotionally on the level of the photo (which is to say, a bit slack jawed and #$@^$^#??????) and I was surprised to see it hadn’t been mentioned by anyone, anywhere. That’s all I’m saying. Truly. Not that anyone else should believe, needs to believe, has to hop into the rowboat with me… just that, “Hey, this is A Thing and nobody mentioned it!”

ParticipantHere is the clip for those not currently watching the show – the scene starts at :47
I guess I’ll hang out in my own boat on this one. It’s in the bug, necklace, their music – that’s more than just JMo. I know I tend to put too much stock in stuff but the fact that this is her safe place after her freak out…
The other thing that stood out to me is that Gerda asked for the memory potion, and GrandPappy Rock Troll Dude warned her, steeply, that these things tend to come out in the end. That coupled with Rumple sucking Emma into the hat on 408 makes me wonder if his forgetting was not so much permanent.
Honestly, my feeling on that scene is that Emma, who is now looking at the destructive potential of her magic, is reflecting on the fact that Neal’s death was contributed to (or maybe in her mind, caused by) her ability to separate he and Rumple magically. But that is just my feelsy headcanon, I’m sure to be wiped away by totally preposterous actual canon airing in about six days…
