Honestly, Neal didn’t hold much back, so I’m not sure how much use the shattered sight curse would have been on him. When he had issues with Rumple, he told him – when he didn’t forgive him, when he did. He was pretty straight up with Emma. There might have been some things with regard to Hook to come out, but the way that they played that episode (“conveniently” making everyone whose thoughts we wanted to hear immune) it wouldn’t have happened anyways.

dontstopbelievinParticipantUm… I kinda really love the cracktheory idea of Hook “stealing” Neal’s happy ending. Not only would it give some context to the weird Neal-Hook scene in 315 (Neal a villain, really?) it would also play well with the Hook-Henry cheating scene. That scene always just felt… off to me, as if it was pointed and should be more significant than it was. “That’s cheating!” “But the point is, you win!”
Ah, if only there was such creativity and cohesive storytelling on our beloved show…

dontstopbelievinParticipantSo… I watched the PCAs last night, not because I expected Neal to win (I knew that award was Cristina’s,) but because I wanted to see the package they used. Of course, they didn’t even air the category, so nothing gained there, but I found the package for Once interesting.
-Neverland cast shot*
-Brief Snowing scene
-Shot of Hook, with David in the background
-Shot of ElsaNo Regina or Rumple, two of their most popular characters. No Emma, their core protagonist. No Henry, no Belle. Speaks a lot about their priorities. (I’m presuming Snowing got that dual shot because they got their own nomination, plus Ginny was present and presenting.)
Also interesting, and recorded here merely for historical data, is that it was the original Neverland cast shot they used, the one including Neal – not the edited one where he’s been deleted.

dontstopbelievinParticipantI think this is a thing you should definitely do.

dontstopbelievinParticipantThat is a nice interpretation and actually one I hadn’t thought of. Now that you say it, it would be totally within Neal’s character to do that, to look out for Emma because he still loves her even if she doesn’t love him back like she used to.
It’s definitely a reason I ship it. My personal definition of love basically boils down to wanting better for another than yourself, and we saw Neal exhibit that. Although I 10000% think what he did in leaving her is wrong, I also understand that he did it because he wanted her to have her family more than he wanted to keep her for herself, and he continued to exhibit those traits throughout the time we saw them. While he was not perfect (and, quite the opposite – deeply flawed,) he never attached strings to his love for Emma. While we never got the opportunity to see them fall in love as part of their backstory, what we did see of him was a guy who said, “Hey, I screwed up, I’m sorry, I want you to know that I still love you and will do whatever I can to get you your happy ending – however that needs to happen.” His love and support of her was not conditional on her reciprocating it – and he continued it to his dying moment.

dontstopbelievinParticipantWith regard to Neal’s “fighting for” line, I think that’s open to interpretation. A lot seem to take it as he’ll never stop fighting for HER, as in, to “win” her, but I think there’s an alternate interpretation whereby he’ll never stop fighting FOR her, as in, being on her side. I think that second interpretation is more true to Neal as he was (I especially think of that conversation in the woods in 315,) where what he wanted was her happiness. He’d never stop fighting for her, as in, he’d never stop fighting on her behalf.
One of these days I’m gonna figure out gifsets and parallel those 314/315 conversations, I swear I am…

dontstopbelievinParticipantI am laughing really hard right now. By pure coincidence, I will actually be in Texas this weekend (work thing.)
Gosh Text, if you had just held out a couple more months we’ll have a spare bedroom…
I was very sad to return to my real life today. I so enjoyed hanging with the fanning! I told my roomie I was counting her, so that I could say I have officially met 50% of the fanning and can certify that we are all not axe murderers. :p
PS: Jo, did you say fanfic?! 🙂

dontstopbelievinParticipantKFC! So glad to see you stop by. Your name floated through conversation today (as did so many others,) so know you’re remembered even though we hardly ever see you!! 🙂

dontstopbelievinParticipantNo, I don’t think you’re okay…
Better than okay!
I may have picked a dead ship, but at least it was an awesome dead ship!  😉
