Can you confirm *yourself* not to be an axe murderer? That might be against the rules! 😛
Summary:
We sat under (okay, next to/under) a bison head (no, seriously) and bonded over a certain television show that shall not be mentioned. Proof positive that the tents can come together and no blood will be shed!
Best quote: “Okay, so what exactly are you optimistic about?” Fair question!!
Jo, we even inserted your perspective when discussing grain and bodies of water – “we are talking about the character here”…

dontstopbelievinParticipantPerhaps you can only meet up if there are swings. So peer pressure can force you to ride them. No swings, no Jo :p 😉

dontstopbelievinParticipantSo this happened last night…
Me in my tent of optimism…
I also made a tent of doom and put “RG” inside…
And then we had this thing. We couldn’t decide whether it was meant to be a candy dish or a candleholder, but then we realized what it would mean if it were a candleholder…
My life is now complete. 😉
(Alternatively, I hereby title this post, “why not to put half of your fanning together in one room.”)

dontstopbelievinParticipantBoo 🙁
Obviously your safety is the most important thing, Jo! If it lets up in the next little bit, know that you’re still welcome… otherwise it’s just an excuse to do it again sometime!

dontstopbelievinParticipantWent to see Into The Woods today. I wasn’t familiar with the story – and, no misunderstanding, I did enjoy it – but I took from it three things:
1) Climbing a beanstalk leads to nothing good,
2) Beware magic beans,
AND
3) If I ship it, someone’s gonna die.The End.

dontstopbelievinParticipantdontstopbelievinParticipantWatcher it suppose to last about a month so you can discuss each one with others.
Do we want to do the 30 days and start tomorrow, on the first, so that we can discuss? (I mean what else do we have to talk about, really.) Watcher’s is already done and could be reposted as we got to the appropriate days…
I’d be game. Even in my busyness I could find a few minutes a day to participate.

dontstopbelievinParticipantYeah, that. Why have the swan necklace cross worlds because it was born of true love but not follow it up with a farewell TLK? Because it would have broken the second dark curse! Contrast that with the failure of Emma to break the curse upon Hook’s lips, which in turn robbed Emma of her true love Magic. Now why would the writers show this contrast between Hook and Neal if not to show the contrast between what Emma had/has with each man? I contend that while Emma and Neal had true love, whatever she has with Hook is not real love but is real lust. It is the opposite of true love; hence why Hook’s cursed lips stole what makes her special: true love magic.
This, this, thissy-this. It was such an odd narrative choice, unless everything we’re seeing now is supposed to read absolutely WRONG to the audience, that feeling of, “Oh NO, Emma’s true love is dead, and she’s dating this nasty pirate…” But on the other hand, I do agree that A&E seem to have a really messed-up view of love at the moment, totally polar opposite of how the series started.
There’s an interesting parallel to be drawn between Snow’s absolute faith in her love with Charming leading to an extraordinary unlikely action saving him and Emma’s lack of faith in her own true love leading to her not even making an attempt at saving him. Not that the show bothers to explore that :/
Anyways, forget their TLK breaking the second dark curse, it should have broken the curse that was leading to his death – since that was wrapped up in the curse of the Dark One, which we *know* is a curse breakable by TLK. I just go back to Other Roomie watching that scene and hollering at the TV – “Kiss him! KISS HIM!!” That’s where they left their GA, by telling them he was her TL and then killing him off. (And they wonder why the ratings are plummeting?)
Blanket forts are a likely possibility. (Poor Roomie!) And no, Heather, I have mattresses so you are safe on that front :p
Ranisha, you know you want to come into the Tent of Infernal Optimism… I’ll even make awesome cookies, any type you want and tailored to dietary restrictions as necessary :p

dontstopbelievinParticipantExplain to me why I feel the need to set literal tents up in my living room :p
Heatherrrrr I thought you were on my team?! My tent of infernal optimism is dropping like flies! :p

dontstopbelievinParticipant–Channeling eternal pessimism mode–
It’ll never…
Nah. I can’t.
Honestly, it would have been SO EASY for her to kiss him (even just a brush of lips to the forehead) in the woods as a last ditch effort. And I wondered if perhaps they were unwilling to have an attempt at TLK not work for some reason… but that’s precisely what they did with Marian. So why not Neal, y’know? (And the fact that they told us it WAS true love in that very same episode makes it doubly interesting.)
It’s one of the many elements that makes me still hang on… it’s just too purposeful and not accidental (particularly as we witness CS making out every darned episode with zero TLK-style effects. Side note: are they the only duo who kissed during the spell of shattered sight? Can’t remember.) Just not EVER a single ANYTHING present-day… yeah.
RG? Text? Somebody? Please come save Jo before I convert her to the dark (light) side :p
