I agree that there are loopholes in the interviews, but I also have seen those loopholes go from large enough to drive a truck through to the eye of a needle. Certainly, you can still thread a needle – but it becomes more grasping at straws. So those of us hoping for Neal-as-Bae and final SF TL confirmation are left with the fleetingest of chances.
It would be complete idiocy, IMO, to tease “you can go back in time to get Bae” and then ACTUALLY do that AND have them discuss Bae… and then leave him dead. As GA, I would be SCREAMING at the TV in frustrated astonishment. But then, “idiocy” would be such an apt descriptor of 3B that – although I do have hope (darnit!!) – that I just can’t rely on it. This story SHOULD bring Baelfire back. The way the last half-dozen episodes have been written thus finale SHOULD be Hook getting Emma’s rejection through his thick head, and Baelfire’s return. If I was GA, that’s what I would expect. But I’m no longer GA, and I am privy to statements that indicate the exact opposite will happen, and for me personally, the emotional stakes are too high to go in without a guarded heart.
I just… this fandom has become the best part of this show. Regardless of which side we’re on, whether we approach tonight with optimism or pessimism, some compassion should be had. If you expect to party tonight, awesome, but respect that others may feel differently. I stay here, in my house, because I know others here “get” me – but I try to realize that even as SFers we all see the story in different ways & approach that with compassion. (Yes, this is completely hypocritical with my earlier post… I draw the line at trolls.) I expect that no matter what happens tonight, there will be losers – Bae returns, Bae is forever dead, CS gets TLK, SF gets TLK – and frankly, no one should be gloating. If you feel like you’ll be saying “I told you so,” put the shoe on the other foot – how will it feel if you are wrong?
Anyways, getting ready to fly & my confirmation number starts with “MO.” I’m gonna take that as a good omen, keep that glimmer of hope in my expectation of defeat. Primarily, I’d really, really like to keep my show, and I think I can do that if they reinforce that “no means no” – even without the return of Bae. So I guess I am just hoping for a story where it is organic for the characters and some sort of solid message is sent. In the meantime, my guys, you know I adore you and more than anything I hope for MO322 so we can stick together. DO322 would be devastating in more ways than one, but it’s not my show, so it will be what it will be.

We worry because the show runners have now said in no uncertain terms our guy is dead, presented a rape culture story as a beautiful love story, and carry on as if the center of the show (and father of core character) can be burned out without consequence.
Unless they are trolling the fanbase – Neal is dead but Bae will return, CS is only being explained from Hook’s POV, and/or they are outright lying – there is ample reason to worry.
They have the WAY for return laying right in their laps. But do they have the will? I LOVE how Ranisha posed that many pages back. Interviews indicate no, promo photo indicates no, but… these guys seem awfully invested in surprising their fans this finale, so we will see.

Yep, Ranisha. Guess we were totally insane to expect them to follow through on the amazing love story they set up.
ETA: Marty, from a show-based perspective, I totally agree. Everything shown *on the show* gives us every reason to hope. But every interview and input from OUTSIDE of the show is so completely opposite what we see onscreen and it’s pretty hard for our sad little minds to compete with what we’ve been fed, both cumulatively and most particularly in the most recent interviews.
I love how I manage to hold out hope for six weeks and give up three days before finale. Sigh. Or mostly give up, this IS a Phoenix-themed story…

Welcome to the thread, Baelfire lives on. Wow, you registered just to delurk in our thread!! I feel so honored. While I can appreciate your opinion, I (and I would venture to guess most of the others here) would wholeheartedly disagree.
As for this thread being an anti-CS thread, I guess that is an unfortunate side effect of a triangle. Discussion of one side of the triangle will inevitably include discussion of why one side is supported, as well as why the other side is not. And when you take a case whee the side we support is literally *dead* then it should not be surprising that the latter discussion becomes predominant! The lack of need to defend that viewpoint is, after all, the point of ship threads. Ship and let ship, not, “go into ship threads and tell them why they suck.”
I am glad you have found solace in CS and see them having been written as canon from the get go. I think that’s a big sack of hooey; I did as a GA viewer and I do more now as a detail-oriented ship viewer. When I can go back to S1 and see the SF story told across multiple episodes (Pilot, Price of Gold, True North,) that’s a pretty good indicator *to me* that it is the story that was planned from the start. At some point, apparently the course changed – that’s cool, A&E have the right to tell whatever story they choose. I have the right to not “buy” the story as authentic to the characters and to the initial fabric of the show. We’ve gone from “hope!” To “life sucks and then you die, unless of course, you cheat to get what you want.”
But we are not here to debate SF vs. CS with people of opposite viewpoints – that’s been tried, and it doesn’t work, hence no more CSF thread. Anyways, I just have to thank you for your extreme sensitivity in coming into our safe haven – under the guise of being a fellow fan nonetheless – on the eve of what is almost certainly the final deathknell and shattering of the last glimmer of hope for not just our ship, but a character we hold near and dear to our hearts. Is it so incredibly kind and considerate of you to come into someone’s home and tell them why they are wrong, why the opposite “side” was always going to win, and why their thread sucks so much. So I sincerely hope you get great satisfaction in tonight’s episode, and knowing you brought kind words of comfort to those of us who are watching the final nails be driven into the coffin of a story we are emotionally invested into.
I hope you enjoy the finale. The after party will be held on the old troll bridge, have a blast.

I just keep seeing, in my minds eye, little tiny Bae in that deleted scene where Rumple tells him his mom is dead. And all I can think is, they are going to give his girl to the same pirate who stole his mom. There are ten million and one issues I have with this story, but right this second, that’s the one I can’t get over… they’re going to give his girl to the pirate who stole his mom. I can’t even deal with the immense wrongness of it. That poor baby 🙁
ETA: I just keep rolling Bae’s story over in my mind and the word that comes to mind over & over is UNFAIR. You know, when I think of fairytales, the whole point is that good guys win, bad guys get punished and ultimately the heroes get their happy ever after. “Unfair” is not a word I associate with fairytales. What the poop happened here? 🙁
I dunno, they have 85 minutes to right the ship. There are so so many ways they could choose to do it… I just really need for you to pull this one out of the toilet, Once. Because, otherwise, really?!
So in the meantime, I’m just gonna live in my “Oz was just a dream” headcanon, whereby Emma wakes up at 8:15 in NYC trying to deal with her subconscious’ interpretation of her repressed memories. Perhaps her TL white light magical magic inherently overrides Regina’s memory spell :p Season 4 can be Emma&Henry trying to figure out how to get home, to their family in the Enchanted Forest. Or better yet, Bae can arrive at the door, ready to take them there himself… bookending the season.
One last random thought before I hit the hay. JMo gave an interview earlier in 3B where she mentioned something to the effect of, “At some point, Hook has a line where he says, ‘When am I going to stop chasing this girl?'” We haven’t seen such a line yet, so it must be in the finale. That gives me hope that perhaps Emma continues rejecting him, and perhaps we have a smidgen of a chance for them to tell a decent story. Kind of wonder if that is the Hook-on-Hook conversation, honestly.

^A very wise post, Rainbow. There truly is nothing to lose tomorrow, as SF fans – only the miniscule, outside chance there is something to gain.
(Outside of shipping, when it comes to Emma and Once, I feel it’s a different story… but from a SF perspective? It’s a very wise point.)

I wonder if someone somewhere has all of those tweets catalogued? From what is there at the moment it appears the discussion continued beyond what I saw (“We don’t support terrible things”? What was that in reply to?) and for him to delete it is pretty interesting.
My hope is that they are making statements from Hook’s POV, without discussing Emma’s reaction, as a way to drum up viewership BUT that the show itself will make a clear statement on how his actions are not okay. It would explain why they appear to support something, and yet, Adam seems almost unable to stop himself from replying in defense. Is it PR or too far into spoiler territory? I can see it being the latter, if the show makes a clear statement on how they feel about the subject. This is one where I am choosing to watch 322 and see how it plays out (while fully comprehending that the CS “worst case scenario” will likely happen.)
There is this tiny voice hollering in my gut that I must watch 322, watch it all the way to the end. Dunno what that’s all about, but that instinct has been growing stronger the last couple of days. As I pondered the WoO/dream theory, to see if it made sense that all of what we’ve seen made sense as Emma’s subconscious fears etc (it does, it really does,) I realized that the bottom line for me is that this half-season has been so heinously “off” of everything we know to be true about this show, about this story, about this ship – and I’m cool with pretty much anything that will fix that. We have this “secret scene,” and the way A&E have been about it leads me to think it is dependent on the rest of the ep. So I guess ultimately I am still hoping they pull this out of the toilet, and if it takes a dream sequence or changing the past to do that, I am ok with that. I am, still, just having a hard time accepting this show has changed its moral compass so blatantly, and so quickly.
Super interesting thought about the poster and the disappearing photo. I’ll accept the headcanon that it’s brilliance, and not sheer incompetence (until finale proves it elsewise, sigh.)

3) Also, a random thought of extreme optimism. In Oz folklore (at least the film,) Dorothy’s journey and the Wicked Witch are essentially a dream sequence/hallucination. ANY chance? Perhaps this is all Emma’s subconscious breaking through Regina’s memory spell… Yes, I am grasping at straws here. (I know we’ve floated dream sequence as an idea, but I don’t recall relating it to the WoO story.). Would explain some of the OOC at least?
