ParticipantThe adorableness in that photo is almost too much for me to take.

ParticipantPerhaps that’s the conversation Rumple has with Emma. “Bae’s not dead, I wouldn’t allow it.” “Well, he is.” “I’m confident that I would have found a loophole to make sure that didn’t happen. Perhaps you just need to have a bit of hope…”
I will pay lots of money if they have DO Rumple ask Emma if she tried TLK. Lol.
1300 pages, yo! That’s a lot of insanity.

ParticipantY’all are gonna make me vomit. :p
Can I make a request? Can we be careful not to stoop to bashing of other fan groups here in the thread? We have enough crazy for the whole forum, and while I don’t doubt we’re being talked about elsewhere (and I really don’t care… I own my insanity ;)) I just hate to see us sink to that level. Not saying that’s what you did Rainbow, just that it feels to me to be dangerously close to the edge, and I know how quickly things move around here.
Day off today. Agenda: reply to yesterday’s posts. Write 3×20 post. Clean out fridge. Watch back to the future. Write fanfic. I need this hiatus so badly… something tells me I would be more productive on my days off!!

ParticipantComfae, the Shatner everyone is referring to is William Shatner, as in, Captain Kirk (or the Priceline guy, lol.) He is a big fan of Once, and regularly tweets Adam about it. He has become the celebrity guest host of the Conspiracy Train, because his tweets about the show have included calling CS “creepy,” calling A&E out on some plot holes, and predicting Neal will return in 322 to save the day. Because A&E are giant nerds (and I say that in the kindest way possible,) we are hoping that if fans pointing this junk out doesn’t wake them up, perhaps James T Kirk can do just that. 🙂

ParticipantDecided to go through and read the 1939 WoO script. I know “our” Oz is based off of the books, but I was just curious.
I had forgotten that the witch catches the Scarecrow on fire. Guessing that means Rumple is the one who is burned at the stake. I suppose that makes sense, him being burned by *fire*… plus the part where he’s immortal and can’t really be harmed by it, lol.
Anyways, there’s some other interesting bits in here. If we are making Dorothy 2.0, does that make Hook Toto? He *has* been following her around like a pathetic puppy dog…
In the final scene, the Wizard notes, “From the rock-bound coasts of Maine, to the sun…” Just an interesting thing to pull out, no real meaning I don’t suppose.
HA, the Wizard is from the Miracle Wonderland Carnival Company. Perhaps he can bring us MO322 😉
One thing that’s interesting & consistent between BTTW & WoO is that to the characters who travel, it has been “days and days.” But to the rest, it has been little to no time at all. Wonder if that’s how it will go next week, too?

ParticipantDid someone say LOSING our minds? Yah, think they were lost long ago.
I had a headcanon to piggyback on text’s earlier one… whereby they zap back in time, screw things up, fix them, then come back to SB… everything fixed, everyone still existing. Then Em & Henry head back to NYC, to resume their normal life, thinking all is well that ends well. A few days after their return, they wake up to a now-familiar scene… 8:15 alarm, breakfast, Charley’s girl etc. A knock on the door, and this time not a pirate, but the third member of their family. Apparently, just enough was left unfixed during the trip back to alter destiny… in the best possible way. To neatly bookend the season, of course we must end with another attempt at TLK… this one successful.
I get really hung up on the need to bookend this season. Like this, it would be the best bookend ever.
So much I want to reply to in this thread, but I gotta go back like eighty-six pages to find where I last posted this morning!!

ParticipantGlad I can be of help, and provide hope to others. I cannot allow myself to have emotional hope, but logically – I have all the hope in the world.
Just have to see if A&E can remember how to follow their own story, or if that art is lost to us for good.

There’s been no hint that someone is coming back (wouldn’t that come into play in a promo or spoiler? it certainly did LAST week…) and who would then be off’ed permanently?
There was no hint in promos that someone would die in 3×15, either. Or, for that matter, in spoiler; all the spoiler said was “before the season is over.” It’s still not over.
Phee and I have both made strong cases for Hook being the one who dies. It would be super easy for him to die in the past while changing little about the present. I mean, if you think about it critically there would be some issues – like, how did they get home from the EF back in S2 without his magical cuff allowing them to climb the beanstalk? – but there aren’t any large glaring ones, like a character being vanquished out of existence. Given the lack of continuity this season, I can see that being ignored completely.
Recall, this season has been all about redemption. Hook dying in pursuit of bringing back Bae, the boy he wronged all of those years ago, and to give Emma (whom he supposedly loves) the life she’s always wanted would be both noble and sacrificial. They have CONTINUED to have Hook have misdeeds, including a recent murder in cold blood and then lying to the woman he “loves.” Why is it that Rumple breaks Belle’s trust a single time and we’re all, “Nooooooooooo” yet Hook breaks Emma’s multiple times an episode and it’s just accepted? I don’t think it will all be overlooked.
For the record, I am not in the camp of “I hate Hook” or “Hook needs to die,” but if we are going to lose one of the nine core – and if we get MO322, we need to lose someone else – then I am okay with it being Hook. He STILL really has no ties to the canvas outside of lost puppying after Emma.

Anyway, a big thing that jumped out to me was the scene between Archie and Henry. Shoutouts to sleeping in the Bug, (which SF did), Henry considering a place near the water, (“Is it near a beach?”) and the scene closing with Henry saying “we’re home”. Holy Tallahassee references in Kansas, Batman.
I missed the first 15 minutes of the episode, so I’ll take your word on this, but um, WHAT? No one else mentioned this! So, that’s two weeks in a row they’ve had Henry shout-out to his parents’ history. I doubt the kid is doing it intentionally, I’m not sure he KNOWS all of that history, so again we have the question – why are they taking the time to bury all of the SF history shout-outs in their kid’s scenes? Kind of really excited to see this scene tonight and break down the episode on rewatch.
Also, I noticed the same about the fire symbol being in the table room. It’s also etched into the table itself in a few places. It was one of the first things I noticed about the room, actually – “Huh, that looks just like the thing that was burned into Bae’s hand.”

Lastly, with regards to CS. Here’s the thing about them. If you watch the SHOW, they’re… much ado about nothing. All of the CS hype comes from the media – articles, questions in the press. The interviews I’ve watched, JMo only promotes them after the question is asked; she also chooses her words carefully and does not imply a romance. In the most recent interview, she talked about Emma’s reactions to Hook/the CS relationship being (paraphrasing) appropriate for where Emma is right now, which is to say: there isn’t one.
When you watch the SHOW, and tune out the outside influences, CS is really nothing but an annoyance. The absolute best characterization comes, ironically, from Regina – when they are in Neverland and she is lamenting that she only has Henry. “You have this, this… PERSON, and a pirate who pines, and…” That is exactly what the show has depicted. Emma has (had) this “person.” There is no clear, definable title to that relationship – he’s far more than her child’s father, more present than her first love, more consequential than an ex-boyfriend. Yet he’s not her current boyfriend, her lover, and they stop just short of declaring him her “true love.” That line always makes me think of Grey’s; your person is someone of great importance, yet traditional titles don’t do the role justice. Regina, like so many other characters, could see that the relationship was not so over as it might appear. On the other hand, there is a “pirate who pines.” More recently, he “yearns.”
Again, I haven’t seen it, but based on Slurpeez’ above comments, I can’t *believe* they had Emma say, “You should have cursed someone I’d actually want to kiss.” That’s actually a demotion, since she was willing to kiss him in Neverland! Maybe the kiss sucked. 😉 If we look at this half-season, the non-TLK in 311 got him kneed in the crotch. 312-314 they hung out; he said he was happy that she’d gotten her heart broken and she just stared in response. I find that most often, Hook says things that are either really absurd or really hopeful and she just looks at him. She just stares. She did it last week, when he explained about the kiss. It’s like she finds him too idiotic or unrealistic to even react. She doesn’t let him down; maybe she’s being cruel and likes being chased or maybe she thinks she’s being kind and doesn’t want to break his heart. But she just… doesn’t respond. When Neal tried similar, he often got, “Neal…” in that tone of voice that meant, “Don’t drudge it up again, not right now.” Hook just got stares.
In 315 obviously Neal died, so from that point forward, there was no other contender for her heart. She didn’t even seem that broken up about it so the path should have been clear to move forward with the pirate. But… no. 316-319 he has just puppied around behind her, pathetic; moping with his cursed lips. In 319, he took away her choices and lost her trust. Two key CS “things” have always been choices and that he’s the only person who’s never let him down, right? Gone. So in order to get her to kiss him in 320, Zelena had to try to kill him; Emma saved him because she was a decent human being. And, frankly, having just seen someone ELSE die in front of her whom she couldn’t save…
Actually, just now realized the parallel. As Neal lay there, she was a tearful, panicky mess, begging Gold to save him. With Hook, she was just annoyed.
This anti-magic kiss storyline is huge, enormous in terms of shutting down CS. (Or at least it should be, who knows what S4 will bring, I guess.) I have always maintained that we won’t actually see a CS “relationship,” and that has rung true. This triangle is such a mess – there have only been reciprocal feelings on one side and now that side is dead. The other side is a girl with walls so high she hasn’t felt emotion in weeks – has been totally flat – and doesn’t give a crap about the pining pirate. This is a show where “true love’s kiss is the most powerful magic of all.” And yet, when Emma put her lips on Hook’s, it did the complete and utter opposite. It removed the magic of “true love incarnate.” How immensely WRONG must the relationship be in order for that to happen?! Did she save Hook? She sure did, in a very real-world, human way. If any person out there, even a stranger, tried to drown and I gave them mouth-to-mouth… they would cough up water and resume breathing. There was no “magical” fix, no waves of light that saved him or brought him back. Just a typical, human response.
Aside from the kiss in Neverland, which has been dismissed numerous times, Emma has NEVER reciprocated Hook’s affections. For them to have her actually SAY she wouldn’t want to kiss him… wow. And I loved the dismissive way she was like, “It’s cool, I won’t need it in NYC,” then grabbed her kid and went to her family, leaving him standing in the hallway. You’re on the outside, dude; that’s her family and you’re not invited.
Again – you want to compare it? Hook almost dies, she’s all, “whatevs.” Neal almost dies, and we get, “I love you, I need you” and then “I love you and I probably always will.” She had no EMOTIONAL response to Hook’s near-death, compared to Neal’s “death” and death, where she became a freaking basket case. Only one of those guys has the ability to get behind her walls, and it’s not the one still around to pursue her.
It goes back to why I think we may see the literal or figurative Hook-for-Neal death swap in 322. Hook is on the outside. Emma has firmly turned him down, which means he has NO place on the canvas. They haven’t woven him in with other stories, or with other relationships; he doesn’t belong in Storybrooke. His vengeance with the crocodile is done, his relationship with Emma never even started. Why keep him around?

ParticipantFell asleep for a hot minute and must have had a dream. A thought, just a thought. They have sent Emma back to a time when Bae was alive. They specifically had Zelena tease about a “when” he was alive, so it’s A Thing. I expect that to be explored, some way and somehow. In the promo, we see Hook, Hook and Emma on the JR, which makes travel to Neverland likely, no?
The problem here, of course, is that Bae is just 14, and bringing him back to modern-day SB would be just all kinds of creepy. But then it dawned on me; in Manhattan, Rumple offered to turn him 14 again. It stands to reason, could that potentially be done in reverse?
Like I said, it’s just a thought, I am not terribly attached to it but it might solve the major timeline problem we have.
