ParticipantYeah. Whether A&E admit it or not, I have zero question that Bae’s name is a nod to the WoT story.
Another thought about the wedding – perhaps it is Robin and Marian’s? We know she’s around, we know they had a wedding in the past.
With regards to Hook/Emma AU, we don’t really know what the AU situation IS, so it’s hard to say whether it would “stick” or not. If it’s present-day Emma and Hook time-jumping back to “Snow Falls,” to make sure that Snow and Charming meet, then if for some reason they got married “back then” I think it would still be legitimate in the “now.”
The thing is, with Snowing being in their SF outfits, I am less inclined to think we are going to get a whole AU season – since not all of our present-day characters are traveling back. I’m more inclined to think we are seeing the AU as a portion of the two-hour finale “movie,” being back to the standard timeline by the end. Honestly, I think a season of AU bodes better for our ship, and I am kind of wondering – if Zelena is disarmed and it’s not her sending people time traveling, then who? The only other person who has been provided motivation to time travel is Rumple, to retrieve Bae. Part of me wonders if that IS S4; it would explain why Neal “had” to die and also MRJ’s departure. It enables Baelfire to remain the central character/reason for the series, as he was in S1, while not forcing the SF story/triangle to be settled. This is probably my main contender for ambiguity on 322… or FAo322, as the case may be. 😉 Welllll see he’s not back, but the story is still ABOUT him… Does that lead back to SF in the end? Who the heck knows. (Maybe they go total alt and coerce Emma to “redo” everything up to and including most of the events of Tallahassee, so that Henry still exits, but somehow turn it from there so she’s never left, who the hell knows. Sounds like a fanfic.)
I agree that I don’t think they’ll erase Henry permanently from existence. He might be gone temporarily, but the fact of the matter is that I think that kid is pretty precious to the overall arch of the show for GA, and like someone said above, in order for Henry to exist, we need to have Bae alive and reasonably young at the same time Emma is 17, so that they can meet to create Henry. My other thought is that we might have some episodes of, “What would have happened if Rumple had gone through the portal with Bae?” It seems he didn’t really start his manipulations of our core characters until he appeared to Cora, to hook her up with Henry; from there he messed with James and David, Snow/Charming, Regina, etc, plus all of the trickledown from there (Cora killing Eva, for example.) So, if Rumple wasn’t around – we know there would still be Ogre wars, there would be no Regina, and Snow and Charming would not have met. Perhaps that’s why Emma goes back, to ensure HER existence by making sure the events of Snow Falls still happen. Does she do that and jump back? Except, without Rumple, no curse, so she’s now in the EF and that STILL doesn’t fix the “no Henry” problem.
I think the long and the short of it is, Rumple’s done a lot of crap, really hurtful crap (and I say that not in an anti-Rumple way but as a simple fact of it,) BUT – if he hadn’t, half of our characters would not exist, and other still would not know each other. Go through the bean portal, Bae and a mortal Rumple die in 19th century London, end of story. No Regina, Emma or Henry for certain. Hook has probably long since died, as well, although my chronology on the events surrounding Rumple/Milah/Hook are not the greatest and perhaps he still would have spent several hundred years in Neverland, and then come back to known realms to still exist in “present,” whenever that is. Snow, Charming and Belle should still exist, but the former would not know each other and the latter would have no connection to the canvas, since no Rumple to take her as a maid. I think that’s all of our regulars, yeah?

ParticipantGood golly, maybe. The only way it would make sense is if there was something else going on. The story is just not going there in the near-term, at all. Having them get together at all would be enough of a stretch – but married? That JMo interview was clear that she felt Emma’s responses to the Hook situation were appropriate to where Emma is at the moment, and as far “off” as they have written her character recently, jumping headlong into marriage with someone she’s not even dating as of 319 would make no sense. Unless they are going to make it some sort of knee-jerk rebound reaction from Neal’s death, which really only works to act as a foil if he’s still alive, and I really just don’t think that’s where we’re going.
I dunno, if we’re going back in time, maybe it is Snowing again after all. Aside from them, Ariel & Eric or *maybe* Rumbelle, no one really makes sense to get married in the next couple of eps.

ParticipantThat makes no sense. None. Expectation of that particular duo is so far from jiving with what we’ve seen of them onscreen…
Of course, given the wedding as of late, it will probably be some sort of arranged marriage “bold” storytelling. Heh.

Participant#4 is pretty special.
I honestly have NO idea what I wrote for most of those; woke up early and decided to throw something together before I was really awake and I am pretty sure it’s more insane than usual.
Also, RG, grieve? Hardly. He was just a lover, a son, a father, a friend… worth searching for for a decade or centuries… no great loss. More than a passing fond smile would be greatly overblown.
Stupid show. Why you make me feel so much? 🙁

ParticipantLMAO, King Hook. Some of yours sound like they could actually happen 😉
ETA: Seriously, RG. What was the point of her coming back to SB again? Oh wait, so she could watch her TL die at her hands…
Not bitter. Not bitter at ALL.

ParticipantFelt the need to continue with cranky self-protective mode; this seemed to be a popular idea last week so I thought I would kick it off again. Hereafter, we have some thoughts entitled, “If I expect the worst from ‘Kansas,’ it won’t hurt so much when it is only merely kinda bad.”
As with last week, spoiled out both for spoiler speculation and for general angry sarcasm. (Some of these are a little over the top, really. No, really. I am not awake enough for my filter to have kicked in.)
My predictions for tonight’s show:
1) Someone mentions Neal; Emma furrows her brow and asks, “Who?”
2) Someone says something to Henry about his Dad being dead, and he points at Hook and says, “No, he’s right there,” with a puzzled look on his face.
3) Hook falls down or out of the dumpster or whatever is going on in the promo. Emma decides he needs resuccitation; she kisses him and out shoot TLK-indicitive rainbows, bunnies and lightening bolts. She decides it’s so pleasing she continues making out with him and perhaps they even get busy right there in the parking lot berm.
4) Despite the magical bunnies and rainbows, the green powder has indeed taken Emma’s powers, so she and Regina perform a body switch to allow her to use Light Magic. However, they do not tell Hook, and Regina decides it is so awesome making out with him she refuses to switch back, telling Emma, “Neener, neener, you can make out with the one that smells like forest. He’s the best I’ve been able to do here in SB… it had been a long time. I’ll totally take this pirate instead.”
5) After Regina de-magics Z, and gets Rumple’s dagger back, Belle suggests they go visit Neal’s gravesight. Rumple shrugs and says, “Meh. What’s done is done. 300 years is a pretty good run, can’t complain too much.”
6) The Snowflake is born; they name him Jonesey after the town’s TRUE savior, and his big sis’ twu luv. Snow can’t keep from bawling over the symbolism of it.
7) Dorothy makes a prophecy to Zelena – in order to do what she wants to do, she will have to ensure she offs all three generations of a powerful family of men. She’s already gotten NealFire; Henry is next and then she’ll head after Rumple. After she offs Henry, Emma shrugs and says, “Those teenage years are a pain in the rear anyways, and he was getting kinda lippy” then heads off for a makeout session with her new twu luv.
8) After dragging the witch across the floor, the SB gang in all of their wisdom figures magic-less Z is as good as dead, so they let her go. In a shout-out to last year’s final episodes, she goes directly to Henry, temporarily absorbs him (because that’s a thing now, yo,) clicks her ruby slippers and steals him straight to Oz. She then finds the recipe for the “Even Darker Curse,” which requires sacrificing the heart of the thing your sister loves most, and de-absorbs him so that she can crush his heart. This transports all of Storybrooke into the Vault of the Dark One, which is the twist no one will see coming. The S4 AU is the SB gang trying to figure out how to amass enough peasants to insert keys and get themselves OUT of the vault. The only ones exempted from the curse and Emma and Hook, who due to the timing of their parking lot berm rendezvous, instead merely get sent back to SB around the time of her parents’ meeting. Meanwhile, NealFire is a zombie vampire contained in the vault, and spends all of S4 trying to bite everyone’s neck to infect them with the awesomeness of dark magic. The reason no cast was aware of the season’s final scene is because it is simply a shot of inky blackness, illustrating the transport to the vault. (Um. I have no idea where all of that came from.)

So as long as all of those don’t happen, the episode won’t be TOO bad, right? Right?!
Your turn 🙂

ParticipantAgree, Phee, agree. If they can find the heart of the tale, I can handle a bit of idiocy. It’s when the idiocy becomes the entire show that it just feels pointless to watch.

ParticipantThe way they’ve been writing Emma lately, she might as well not even be around. And I HATE that. I just want to cry for her character – if they gave us five minutes of introspection, how would she feel about that, really for real? Why should we be trying to figure out what she is feeling based on whether she sees a book that may or may not have been there?
OUATRando, yes, you need to post that fanfic. I need fanfic like I need air and water right now. Post it yesterday :p

ParticipantOh – the last episode put me way more in the tent of optimism. I wrote a super-long essay on the last episode, which was full of a TON of SF stuff. NYC Pizza 🙂 🙂 🙂 If you’re going to watch it, you might consider reading that essay before or after, because a lot here were ready to throw OUAT off a bridge after it, I just saw it totally different, lol.
I didn’t like that JMo interview. Actually, I liked the interview itself just fine, and found it super duper interesting that she talked “around” both the Hook and Neal questions. But the MRJ comments just “felt” more final, and honestly, if some cast had made comments like that just after 315, I would have been much more apt to take things at face value. I suppose one COULD make the argument that it just meant he would be gone the rest of the season, but, yeah.
Am I “firmly” in the Tent of Doom? Yes, and no. I had ALWAYS planned on going over there once 320 aired. It’s a completely self-protective mechanism. If I allow myself to hope, and it is dashed, it hurts SO MUCH MORE than convincing myself that my optimism is idiotic – squishing down that little voice that says, “but, but, but!” – and expecting the worst. So I will expect the worst, because 321/2 is the moment of truth and frankly, I just can’t allow myself to expect the gavel to fall on my side of the line.
BUT, honestly, I still stand by everything I’ve posted in the thread in the last days and weeks. Nothing I have seen ON THE SHOW makes me think they abandoned SF to go CS; on the contrary, I am puzzled how ON THE SHOW they are still weaving SF into the story when – if Neal was killed to put Emma on the other side of the triangle – they should have abandoned ship on all references. They had their kid ASK FOR THE KEYS so that he could steal the car. “Impressive… but you could have just asked for the keys.” Those are the first words his father said to his mother. They had their kid try to steal their car, the car that they have both stolen!! They had their kid try to steal their car, to take a bus, to NYC… something his grandfather predicted a full season earlier. While said kid and his Dad were getting NYC pizza, pizza that was discussed in his parents’ final scene together, pizza that was the FIRST thing he said to his Other Mom when she asked how he liked NYC. Really? Really?
Just dawned on me that in that episode, they tied in his parents’ first scene and last (“last”?) scene. Huh. Stop it, hope, shut up right now. Get out of Le Tent, you are not allowed here!!
The story says, have hope. My emotions say, it’s too dangerous. So I am hanging with RG in Le Tent, just as I told her I would be doing weeks ago. That doesn’t mean anyone else should follow suit, or mimic my cowardess. I will be happy to still point out anything that I might (or might not) find in 320, but I have just gotta hang here for the next week, because it’s the safe bet for my emotions.
Make sense?
