Also, my crack theory. Back in season 2, as Whale’s backstory played out, he was called a “Wizard” more than once. Given that we are now in Oz, I expect that may be significant. Certainly, I would not really want a Frankenstein-style resurrection, but so have to give it a moment’s pause as it crossed my mind.

The weirdest thing about that wording for me is that the necklace wasn’t really bourne out of TL, exactly. Procured, yes, but not bourne. Particularly as they have something that WAS born out of TL – he’s about 11, 5′ tall, brown hair, pretty awesome…
But I agree that it’s curious they chose the same wording there.
Finally fell asleep but it lasted like 90 minutes. I sleep like junk anyways but that’s a bit extreme, even for me. So you probably are insane, Marty, but you’re not alone. 🙂
I definitely agree something is rotten in Denmark here. I am just afraid to hope the rottenness will go our direction. FWIW, my roommate (casual watcher who just barely has her toe in the edges of fandom) is convinced he’s not dead. I’ve explained to her the spoiler and the comments on a “for real” death and she shrugs. So from a non- diehard POV, there’s that. From a diehard POV, I’m too invested to have casual hope… bizarre as that sounds. Though I keep coming back to that 2/28 Twitter pic…
(ETA: Incidentally one of her points is that she didn’t kiss him – we didn’t get a TLK. It does seem like a rather glaring omission, but was it left out for plot/return reasons or “We don’t want to ‘seal the deal’ on them being TL so we’ll just cop out by having Belle say it.”?)
BTW sorry for serial posting in here. I need to talk it out and had to let poor roomie go to bed. Also, I am terrifically sorry for all over my cheerleader posts over the past few days. Guess I let my belief in hope, love and a well-written story cloud my vision of how badly a fan base could be messed over by TPTB…

I don’t know. I don’t get it. Was it an ABC mandate, A&E had to write CS and this was just ripping off the bandaid? Soooo many questions and absolute silence from anyonwe who could give answers.
I know I wouldn’t want my ship to win by default, but I’m hard pressed to put this on the fans. Even if the show’s course was changed due to the shipping wars, no fan dictated how this all went down. That’s all on the writers.

They made Emma KILL HER TRUE LOVE. End post, full stop. That is something you do not move past… ever.
I didn’t see it as Emma actually killing her love, since she is not the culprit. But I do see it as an end-of-life issue in which a doctor pulls the life-support plug on a patient who is asking for it be done. And that is just as horrible for Emma. Just as dreadful to Neal. They could have kept him alive. Waited to figure out the name of WW some other way. Rumple would gladly have died to spare Neal. Neal dying nullifies his father’s sacrifice to give his son his second chances at happiness. Neal gets no happiness in this life, even if he is somewhere looking down on his son and Emma, his true love.
I think that’s a reasonable analogy, but I cannot get over the fact that they had Emma cast a spell to end the life of her TL. Even if he was “really” dead in the EF, just, no. Regardless of how you look at it, they wrote this episode so that Emma took a direct action that ended with her TL dying. Are they planning to take the character dark, have her seek vengeance? I am just in utter shock at what they did to these characters in the 40 minutes of TV I watched tonight! What, and, who? What just happened?! I feel like my TV was taken over by podpeople…

Is Neal indeed gone? Yup. As series cocreators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz told TVLine in January, a major character would be dying during Season 3B — “for real,” they made clear — at which point his/her portrayer, meaning series regular Michael Raymond James, would leave the show.
I am not saying this is not real, but that paragraph reads to me as a bunch of conjecture. Yes, this death is final, because A&E said there would be a “for real” death in 3B, ergo MRJ is out. Not, “A&E said MRJ is out, which I can now share/confirm.”
I fully expect the gauntlet & exit interviews/articles/tweets to come out tomorrow so I am not saying “HOPE!” but I am saying that paragraph alone is far from conclusive.

They go and confirm that Emma and Neal are TL and then they make Emma kill her TL and then he dies in her arms. I don’t know why I’m watching this show anymore

It is literally the worst thing I’ve seen in ALL of my shipping days. I can’t even begin to deal. They didn’t just write Neal out, they MADE EMMA DO IT. I… can’t… how do you… how?!
Adam’s Twitter silence speaks volumes. Just not sure what it’s saying… I’m of two minds on it.

I am so… flummoxed… right now I cannot even be logical. I am literally laying in my bed shaking from shock/anger. I am such a bundle of emotions I apologize for the lack of cohesiveness in this post. What WAS that we just watched?
I just… I can’t. I can’t. This episode was so – I don’t know – fan pandering doesn’t even begin. The first few minutes – Hook “apologizing,” the keychain, Belle calling SF TL – it felt like going down a checklist of fan demands.
Of all the things – of ALL the things – the one that has me ready to weep hysterically is that THEY MADE EMMA KILL HER TL. WTF?! He died at her hand! How does she ever recover from that? Hint: she doesn’t. They have just ruined that character. They screwed Bae, they torched Emma – not even to touch Henry. How could they have ruined them all so callously?
The tears have started & I can’t stop crying. I rarely, hardly ever cry and this has done me in. It’s just such a crock of… badword that we can’t say. SF aside, this was my favorite show – really the only thing on TV I care to watch at all – and they ruined it. Not the ship, that’s its own issue, but OUAT jumped the shark tonight. A show about happy endings, second chances, hope and true love… showing that life sucks & then ya die. How do you trust them about anything, again, ever?
I am holding out hope for the fake out, I am curious if we are reading the same Matt M article, as I don’t read the as definitive. I am waiting for follow up twitters and exit interviews, but in the meantime it hurts so bad… to get screwed by my favorite show and know that it is likely ruined, forever.
Just heartbroken over the whole thing. That’s what I get for allowing myself to ship, to trust TPTB. Ironically enough I now feel that I identify with Emma & Neal more than ever.
