Emma tells Mary Margaret in the episode True North (1×09), that she had been in the (foster) system for 16 years.
THANKS! That episode isn’t working on my computer for some reason, but I am going to find it! 🙂

eirelandParticipantDoes anyone know what episode it is when we learn that Emma has been on her own since she was 16? I’ve rewatched all the SB parts from episodes 1-8 and i CANNOT find this reference… We all seem to know it, and seem to agree that it was said… anyone know where it was from?
I’m working on a ridiculous youtube video and shows all the silly goofs in the REALITY timeline and I thought this might be important!
eirelandParticipantTrue.
I just rewatched a bunch of clips (so I cannot recall which episode, but I think “Snow Falls”) and Emma made some comment to MM about not getting involved with a married man (“trust me” she said)…
So I had just posted my last comment, and then I read that…
Perhaps Emma has seen Neal again since she had Henry (I would have to rewatch the episode when she and MM talk about “Henry’s dad” because I honestly don’t recall what was said, so feel free to disprove this, I’m totally talking off the top of my head) and he was married?! or SAID he was (because August told him to stay away?).
Then again, with Emma’s implied history with men, she could be talking about someone totally different. It just seems like everything is so planned in this show that she wouldn’t have made that comment were it not significant. But perhaps being involved with a married guy is significant just in how much Emma has changed now. Who knows 🙂

Note that Alice is the only keychain that is angled that way, despite it being the same as some of the others…
I noticed the Henry thing in the episode when it first aired, and then I was like “oh, that doesn’t matter because EMMA didn’t name him Henry, Regina did”… so I discarded it. Til now.
eirelandParticipantMaybe he has someone new in his life who he loves?
eirelandParticipantMarilou – I wasn’t being sarcastic at all. I literally do not watch any kind of news. I do have twitter, but unless I’m bored enough to scroll through everything, I miss news. I don’t know celeb news (I’m the one who JUST found out two weeks ago that GG & JD are dating for reals) and I don’t listen to current news, unless it is close to an election!
I do know there are several reservations in Canada that still don’t have clean drinking water and that the northern Ontario reservations that send nurses and doctors up on rotations are one of the most dangerous places to work, especially for women.Gaultheria – I didn’t mean to spark any kind of debate (I only spark debates about Once on these forums). I don’t know enough about this topic to debate anyways.
eirelandParticipantBelle is supposed to be French, but they are both Australian! haha. It was cool that they at least cast her father as an Aussie too!
eirelandParticipantYes, it certainly seems that that is the case, and I’m cool with them doing that. My only issue is that there was an Asian looking door in Jefferson’s hat, and if that wasn’t meant to represent a separate realm that Mulan came from, well, what else could it have possibly been there for, because really, what other stories would we get from an Asian inspired realm, other than Mulan? Methinks I need to just get over it though, coz they probably just got a bit carried away with adding all those doors in the hat. 😛
Mulan could be FROM that world and, going further back in her story, could have some how come to settle in FTL. If she, as a very young girl, came over to FTL and settled with a husband (which is implied in the movie, she marries that guy at the end), then she could be referring to the village they settled in as “my village” right?
The story of Mulan happened when she was probably very very young (i.e. 14-16?), but this Mulan we saw in last week’s episode I would guess is more like… 18-19? And that means current day Mulan is more like… 25 (the marks on Belle’s jail cell, I believe the podcast said, indicate that she had been in there for at least 4-5 years, but I could be wrong)? There is lots of time that can be clarified, and that door could still come into play. (Maybe Mulan was another baby promised to Rumpel from that world and that’s why she’s the only Asian looking person we’ve seen in FTL – because she is from that world with those symbols on the door?)
Rumpel seems to have his hand in everything.
eirelandParticipantThere’s lots going on with the First Nations in Canada, Marilou? I had no idea… no seriously, I don’t listen to the news or anything… Do you mean there is new current stuff, or just in the past decade there has been a lot?
There was also a huge forgiveness tour that went around Canada that I think was huge progress with the First Nations.
They’re already screwing around with stereotyping and Mulan, so I am sure they can get around pushing any buttons.
