ParticipantBut there is a difference between The Huntsmand and Captain Hook, other than character wise. 🙂
The Huntsman, while awesome and undeserving to die, was not entirely central to the story. 🙂 Yes he has helped the Charming family, and he and Emma bonded, but his story has not been entirely connected with the other character’s.
He (as far as we have seen) had not branched out much with other characters.
Captain Hook has met the three (some of them formerly) villains on the show. He has goal and plan set. His story is merged with many–Cora’s story, Regina’s story, Rumpelstiltskin’s story, Belle’s story, and now with the Charming family. 🙂

ParticipantI’ve been wondering about the Captain Hook is dying threads. Where is the proof for this? 🙂
It is doubtful that they would kill him off so quickl–his character is important in the story, as well as the interactions he will have with the other characters. I’d like to see him meet Rumpelstiltskin, Belle, and Regina again. It would be interesting to see how Prince Charming takes to him, and I’d like to see a few more confrontation scenes with him and Emma. 🙂
His schemes to seem to be more successful. Though he doesn’t seem to deal in extreme dark arts–true he pulled Aurora’s heart, but that seems to be the strongest magical thing he has done. Other than that, he simply relied on his wits and skills with a sword and kissing and flirting up to people to get what he wants. 😀

ParticipantIt is important to remember his intent. Captain Hook’s intent for all these centuries has been to kill Rumpelstiltskin, and so far nothing has come close to making him want to stop. Even with his fondness for Emma, he still does not forget his plans. 🙂
He teamed up with Emma at first because she proved to be cunning, strong, and resourceful. But when she chained him up, she proved that not only did she not trust him, she refused to work with him. 🙂 Granted, she instructed the giant to let him go, but it would have prevented him from his revenge.
And then Cora claims that she will not take him with her to Storybrooke–she will deny him his chance for vengeance. This is something that he has been planning for too long to let go. 🙂 And so he does whatever he can do to get back onto his plans.
His actions are very similar to Rumpelstiltskin and Regina–though theirs are still much worse.

ParticipantI think people react that way to both Henry and Belle because, physically, they are not strong fighters. They are people that do good and that want to help others. 🙂 They are both capable of bringing in goodness out of two people that have not been good for a long time, that have cared for no one but themselves.
In a way, both Henry and Belle are special in that respect. 🙂 Both Regina and Rumpelstiltskin have done horrible things, and yet these two make them try to be good.
And I would react the same way if he had hit some other character. I would feel bad for them. 🙂 But again, he is a villain.

I agree. He thought he dead once, and though he was miserable and beat her father up, he didn’t become crazed. 🙂 I think she is capableof bringing out the light him, just like Henry does with Regina, and even Emma to an extent.
I think Regina meant was that Belle was useful o keep around, to use her as leverage over Rumpelstiltskin if it was ever truly needed. Also, she probably enjoyed keeping Belle locked up. She hates Rumpelstiltskin, and she probably has a similar feeling with Belle, so anything that makes them suffer s enjoyable for her.

ParticipantI do like Belle, but I didn’t think it was that shocking what he did to her. Sorry, but he is a villain, so he is going to do horrible things to people to reach his goals. Hitting Belle, using Aurora’s heart, helping Cora, all these actions make him someone who is going to create conflict.
Plus, he so far has not even reached close to what both Rumpelstiltskin and Regina have done. 🙂

ParticipantI understand that, but these are times of war–people are going to get hurt and die. The Huntsman was a victim of that. 🙂 But with that said, I doubt he will be killed–at least not so soon. There is a lot of potential for how he can interact with the characters–we’ve seen him with Rumpelstiltskin, Regina, and Belle, and I am curious to see how he reacts when he sees them again. 🙂
With Aurora, I get that he was a chess player and all. Just like Rumpelstiltskin is one. And Regina and Cora, too. Pretty much a good portion of the whole cast of characters. 🙂 Still, he is a villain, just like Rumpelstiltskin and Regina were/are.
I don’t condone their actions, either. I understand where they are both coming from, but I don’t think they should get a free pass and be completely forgiven. That is why I don’t blame te Charmings or not inviting Regina.
They will revert. And I wait for when the fans will find some way to defend them for it. 🙄 I pretty much like all the core characters–Regina, Emma, Snow White, Henry, Rumpelstiltskin, and Prince Charming. And some of the other characters as well. 🙂
It is good to know that people do understand why Emma chained him–to be honest, I had thought that Captain Hook was going to be the one to trick her. Ad I certainly think that when she caught him lying he was impressed–he seemed that way even when she held the knife to his throat. And he looked hurt when she left him–Emma seemed pretty guilty.

ParticipantSadly, people are defensive of their opinions, and they can defend them a bi agressively. 🙂 But this whole site is meant for everyone to come in a discuss their theories and opinions.
I do agree that before Emma can start anything, she needs to be with her family, and especially get to know her father. 🙂 All she really has of him were his actions from last season, and that is poor representation since he was curse. I’ve been waiting for them to spend time together for so long!
She also does need to open. She may have allowed her walls to go down a bit, but she still keeps them high up.
I think she feels a connection to him, just not sure where it will go.

ParticipantOh, Regina and Rumpelstiltskn will probably fall off the wagon. Both of them will revert. 🙂 And yeah, he did return Aurora’s heart, but it doesnt change the fact that he took it and endangered her, nor any of his other actions. But it did surprise me that he returned it, and it shows that he does have a soft side.
Actually, I’ve always thought tha Regina and Rumpelstiltskin were annoying at times–I do like their characters, I just don’t think they should be excused for everything. And I agree that they get away with a lot, and people see to be okay with them,
I agree that Emma will try to stop him–she is the sheriff, and it is her duty to protect the people, even if she does not like all of them. 🙂 He does seem to enjoy Emma more–mostly because she has more honesty to her, and more fair.
It is a bit strange–I thought people would be too shocked or angry at how Emma (who I tink was justified) chained up Captian Hook to even think of shipping them.

ParticipantI certainly agree that Emma has shades of grey–all the characters pretty much do when you think about it. Some more than others, though. And I agree that we’ve all got our opinions with couples–but it is cool to have a healthy discussion. 🙂 That is what thess discusson boards are for. 🙂
That said, for the moment, I don’t really want to pair anyonewith Emma. She has had it tough so far, an has barely even gotten a break. She hasn’t gotten to spend anytime with parents–in safe circumstances, not fighting for their lives. She hasn’t seen Henry in weeks, and she has to figure out her magic.
Also, Emma hasn’t really looked at Captain Hook romantically. It might change, though I a just curious as to how this ship became so popular in the first place.
