Ususally, with some of the guest stars on this show, they have been a bit of a hit-or-miss. I’m not trying to be mean but some of them have not been good. Part of it is to do with the writing–they cannot really do much if they are not given much to do with.
That said, I though Bailee Madison was wonderful, since Stable Boy. This seen is show has had a few child actors guest star, and out of all of them, Bailee was the best. 🙂 Yes she is young and is probably still learning, but the emotion she brought on scrren was wonderful. Seriously, she is one of the best child-actors I’ve seen in a long time.
With Jared, I don’t think the lines are at fault. Yeah, they aren’t good, but the way he reads them are weird. Sometimes he comes off as flat–there are times where he can be really good, though. Episodes like Broken, We Are both, and Manhatten come to mind. But other times, he just seems to be rereading his lines.

First off, Regina has been getting more and more annoying. The scene where she claims that she was Queen and everyone else added the Evil to it–that was one of the dumbest things she said, and I’m glad Snow White didn’t both to feel guilty about that because she shouldn’t. Regina earned that title all on her own with her own actions.
And then her finally figuring out that Cora had planned for Snow White’s horse to go off on it’s own. I thought that was just stupid–she knows her mother. She knows what she is capable of. And yet she seems really slow to figure out what her mother has done.
Rumpelstiltskin snapping at Henry was extreme–I get that he fears Henry, but the boy was obviousky not at fault. This was all Captain Hook and Rumpelstiltskin’s feud.
Loved the Fairytale Land story–Bailee Madison seriously does great as young Snow White. The scene with her mother, Johanna, and the ‘Blue Fairy’ were just heartbreaking.
This was the first time in a long that the show had thrown a surprised twist–Cora as the Blue Fairy was a surprise that I got as soon as she gave Snow White the candle. But it as still all the more powerful to see her.
Also Ginnifer Goodwin–she was wonderful in the episode. Being patient and calm and kind–the last scene where she says she will kill Cora was cold and calm.
The scene where Johanna died was horrible–I knew she was doomed, but the way she died shocked me. And I truly hated both Regina and Cora in that scene.
Another plus was that there was no Greg–a huge relief
Overall, I think it was one of the best.

No magic.
I knew he didn’t change–he never really had–but I had hoped that he would have at least learned by now that his son hates magic.
And especially with offering to age him back to 14–the guy just realizes that he has a son.
Also, I get that Henry was mad at Regina–he had a right to that–but comparing Emma to Regina is a bit much. Yes, Emma lied and she was wrong. But she admitted it–she owned up to her lie and explained why she did it. And she apologized–I doubt Regina has ever done that.
elleParticipantIt is hard to really say whether or not they were in love. I think the word I would use is content. We saw Rumpelstiltskin happy with her, but (for some reason) it didn’t feel passionate. It could be becuse most people only see Rumpelstiltskin with Belle, but I never really got love from Milah or Rumpelstiltskin when they were together–they seemed caring and content and happy with what they had. I wouldn’t call it love.
That said, Milah’s reaction to Rumpelstiltskin coming back was a bit much. It would have been nice to have seen how she was told the news or how she was treated by the other villagers. Instead, we get one scene with her asking Rumpelstiltskin not to wgo to war, but then supporting his choice, and the next scene, she is angry and spiteful and cruel to him.
I think a bit of what she cannot live with is the fact that he ran and the whole village knows it and won’t let him forget it. That was why she wanted to leave–she wanted to be away from it all. And I don’t fault her that. But leaving her son was horrible of her–especially without at least a goodbye. Or letting Rumpelstiltskin think she was kidnapped when she could have just told him or at least left a note.

The roots. Before he was a coward. I know he said he knew his papa was a good man at one point but even so he still thought as a good man he was still a coward. To be honest, I doubt that would have moved Neal. He was right–his father kept going on and on about hwo he suffered, but Neal was abandoned. His father let his hand go–that (for Neal) stays stronger with him than the good times. Remembering every night before he goes to bed–remembering how one minute his father held onto his hand, and the next minute, he let him go.
February 18, 2013 at 4:34 am in reply to: Manhattan : epi 14 Favorite and Least Favorite Moments #173915elleParticipantAlthough it did give hope to my SwanFire heart that he came back to confront his father to make sure that Emma was safe, and he stepped in when his father started threatening Emma.
Oh, I love that scene. I had actually been worried that Rumpelstiltskin would whack Emma with his cane–he seemed pretty close to hurting her–and then Neal comes in. That was awesome to see. 🙂
With Milah, I swear she is more of a plot-device. She is just around to make Rumpelstiltskin more sympathetic. And I wouldn’t mind that, but her quick reactions bothered me. She fears her husband going to war and dying a horrible death, but when he comes back alive, she gets angry. It seemed a bit too quick for her to suddenly hate him.
With Greg, I don’t really get why he would want to stay. He sees a man throwing a fireball and sees a woman levitating objects around. Does he really want to stay in a dangerous town? All to investigate? Wouldn’t he want to leave quickly?
elleParticipantBaelfire/Neal will certainly come back to be with Emma. I don’t see him reconciling right away with his father–at least I hope not. It wouldn’t make sense for a quick reconciliation with the two of them, and I really like how Neal pointed out how much he had gone through.
As for Emma and Neal, it was pretty obvious that he still loves her. He was a bit angry at her for keeping Henry a secret, understandably. Plus, he has much he has to get through with his father.

That short short convo was so painful for me to watch. I just want Bae to KNOW EVERYTHINGGGG.
He knows why his father became the Dark One. What he didn’t like was how his father was killing people left and right and becoming more power-hungry. And he felt tortured being abandoned by his father.

First, I think that MRJ and Jennifer Morrison and Robert Carlyle deserve praise. Their scenes were the best in the whole episode. 😀
Emma and Neal having their face-to-face talk. I am a bit upset that Neal is not that guilt-ridden about what he had done to her, but I do like how Emma had a bit of a chance to let out some of her pain and frustration.
Rumpelstiltskin injuring his own leg–I sorta figured he would soon find a way to leave, but it was still heartbreaking to see him have to do the deed.
Snow White and Prince Charming talking about their family–it was cute and funny and it actually eased the tension a bit in the episode.
The whole family reunion–Neal seeing Henry, Henry learning Emma lied, Rumpelstiltskin realizing who Henry really is, Emma having to tell she lied, and Henry hurt by it all.
I really loved Neal telling it straight–his father abandoned him in a world alone, with no one. And what was even worse was that his father still didn’t learn his lesson–he actually talked again about magic (loved how exaserated Neal looked) and how he could turn the clock back until his son is fourteen. Neal was right–his father still didn’t learn his lesson. He was still using magic for everything.
Leave Favorite Moments
Greg spying. Seriously, why is he so interested? I get that he was freaked out about it, but it just seems forced.
Regina pretending to be nice to Belle and then knocking her out cold and then checking her purse with magic. She really couldn’t bother to use her hands. It was reckless and dumb.
Seeing Regina all happy with her mom. She had been so firm in wanting her mother to not come to Storybrooke. She had worked with Rumpelstiltskin. She knew her mother framed her. She knew her mother wanted her broken, and yet she still works with her.
Also, I didn’t really care so much for Rumpelstiltskin’s flashbacks. Some were good, but some didn’t really add much other than what we already know.
elleParticipantSome people on tumblr seemed convinced that Neal is no longer in love with–but it seems better that they are not falling over each other. Emma is hurt. Baelfire has a lot to deal with–just found out his has a son, Emma hates his guts, and his father still looks to magic to solve his problems and has clearly not learned.
