That a really interesting theory. But why wouldn’t the Blue Fairy mention that. Granted, she might have thought that Rumpelstiltskin would never find love, but he kept asking her for different ways until he came upon the curse route. Wouldn’t it have been better to tell him about True Love then to create a curse?
I also wonder why the Blue Fairy didn’t tell Bae about True Love’s kiss. Emma’s kiss worked on Henry, and it was an unromantic kiss. Why couldn’t Bae simply kiss his father and break the curse?
[adrotate group="5"]elleParticipantIt wouldn’t be a stretch if Henry was able to hear while under the Sleeping Curse. When Prince Charming rescued Snow White and she commented (when he asked if she doubted that he would find her) that, “…the glass coffin gave me pause.” So she must have been aware of what was going on around her to an extent.
elleParticipantIn no specific order…
The best episodes, in my opinion, have been…
1). The Pilot
2). Whatever Happened to Frederick
3). Skin Deep
4). The Thing You Love Most
5). The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
6). The Return
7). The Stranger
8). Hat Trick
9). Red-Handed
10). A Land Without Magic
11). Heart of Darkness
I know this is more than six, but it was hard for me to pick. 😀Ginnifer Goodwin
It would have to be Heart of Darkness, or Whatever happened to Frederick. That was where she really shined. She did well in the others, of course.Josh Dallas
Either Heart of Darkness, Whatever Happened to Frederick, or A Land Without Magic. His best episodes.Jared Gilmore
It’s really hard for me to pick…he is in almost every single episode.Jennifer Morrison
The Stranger, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, or A Land Without Magic. I particularly favour the last episode. Her scene when she sees Henry, seemingly dead, always makes my eyes sting a bit.Eion Baily
The Stranger and A Land Without Magic. I know he only had two minutes in the last episode, but I honestly can’t help it. I love him in that scene with him and Emma.Robert Carlyle
Skin Deep or The Return. Both show him the best, I think.Lana Parrilla
The Thing You Love Most or A Land Without Magic. The last one would have to be the best for her, though, in my opinion.elleParticipantI honestly don’t see Belle dying–she has been brought deeper into the series, and there will be a reason for it. Perhaps to create more tension between Regina and Rumpelstiltskin–these two have never really gotten along, so I am anticipating their relationship to worsen. It is true that the possibility of them being happy right away is slim–Belle did not look happy about magic coming back–but they are in a world where people have to fight for their happy ending. Snow White and Prince Charming went through much, and they still have yet to gain the peace they need–the last scene sort of confirms that. And I know many don’t like her, but Cinderella had her struggles.
And in the topic of main characters, I agree that the focus is mostly on Snow White, Emma, Rumpelstiltskin, Evil Queen, and Prince Charming but that is mostly due to the fact that their story is intertwined with all the other fairytale characters. This series is built a lot on characters and how they interact with each other and their settings–whether it be in the Fairytale Land or Storybrooke, and that is one of the best parts of it. Plot is great, but so are characters, and many shows or other forms of entertainment focus a lot of the plot and little on the characters.
Lastly, for happy endings, I think everyone in this show is due for one, even if many don’t think they deserve one. What people have to remember is that this is still about Fairytales, and not the grim versions of them. The one where there is a happy ending–plus the themes of love, redemption, good vs evil, and power show strong. I don’t think characters like the Evil Queen or Rumpelstiltskin will be left out of a happy ending and redemption.elleParticipantI have very little to complain about for this episode.
Loved (and in no specific order)
1). Scene when August and Mr. Gold talk. I’m was kinda surprised that they would start working together so soon. They both know who they are, and yet they both work towards the same goal. Especially after The Return, I wouldn’ve thought they would both avoid each other like the plague.2). Loved Regina trying to seduce David. It shows just how sneaky she is, how hateful she is, and yet how lonely she is. She wants to get back at Mary Margaret for the forgiveness that she gave, and yet she is so lonely. The one person that she loves above all else hates her guts. That has to eat at her. And I loved how David pulled back–everyone gives him crap for how he acts, but the guy is cursed to act that way, and yet he is still able to be kind to Regina and pull away from her gently. He tried to be nice about his feelings and hers. Both Lana and Josh did great in those scenes.
3). Speaking of Mary Margaret, she only got one scene in this episode, but she shined in it. The way she talked back to Regina with one comment after the other, and then showing forgiveness towards the woman who basically tried to make her miserable shows just how kind and lovely she is. It also reminded me of the letter she gave to the Huntsman. Ginnifer Goodwin had always been good at showing the spirit of Snow White in the small hints in Mary Margaret.
4). Emma and August in the woods. I know a lot of people also love to rip at Emma for not believing in the curse, but in all honesty, I don’t blame her and I would probably act somewhat similar. And you have to admit, you might, too. I think it also shows that Emma does know (at least partially) that she is responsible for the town. She just does not want it, and that is a fair trait. No one wants that kind of responsibility. And I loved how frustrated August was with her–both Eion and Jennifer were amazing in that scene.
5). Lastly, I loved the scenes with Gepetto and August/Pinnochio. Again, a lot of people seem to be attacking Gepetto for what he did, but I honestly don’t blame him. True, it wasn’t the right thing to do, but he was a father, desperate to save his child. Again, both actors really played up the emotions especially when August and Gepetto meet a second time and the former helps the latter with the clock.
Hated
I don’t really have anything to hate in this episode. I don’t really have any complaints.
elleParticipantI had forgotten about that–but that is mostly due to how much had happened in the episode. Scenes with the dragon fight scene Charming/Emma, then the scenes with August and Jefferson came, along with the reunion of both Belle/Rumpelstiltskin and Prince Charming/Snow White, and with Emma giving true love’s kiss, I doubt there would be enough room to fit Emma with Snow White and Prince Charming. Hopefully that will be a deleted scene. 😀
elleParticipantI understand that he would have been married to Cora before they both attained power. But after Cora got her power and position, I don’t see how she would have left any loose ends. She said sacrificed a lot to get where she was at. There does not seem to be anything she wouldn’t have done to keep everything that she worked for. Also, I don’t see her being happy if he ex-husband got power, especially if it could pose as a threat to her, I don’t see her letting it slide–he might have wanted to cause trouble just to spite her, or at least that is what she would think.
Regina was already pretty twisted–Daniel’s death made her hate a ten year old girl. So i doubt killing her mother (if Regina did) would increase her hatred by much.elleParticipantI had no problem with the reunion–I really loved both scenes with them. It was a surprise to see them both together, since it was a popular thought and rumour that the two of them would reunite in season 2. I had also heard that Belle was going to die, so it was a relief to see that both sources were wrong.
That said, I never once thought that Rumpelstiltskin chose magic over Belle in the last scene. First, this was planned. He was always going to go to the well and drop the potion–the scene before Belle comes into the shop is proof. Second, he is going to need magic. Regina is not the only one in trouble–once everyone finds out that he made the curse, they will be out for him, and without magic, he’ll die. Also, he’s probably still looking for Bae–I doubt he has given up on him, and he will most likely need magic to find him. He let both Bae and Belle down with his choices, and so I think he has learned his lesson, and he has no intention of using his powers as he had before.
The first time Mr. Gold sees Belle is clear proof that he still loves her. He can’t believe it’s her–he has to touch her shoulder to believe. It makes me think that he must have seen her before–a dream, a figment of his imagination. And when he asks, “She did this to you?” it just foreshadows that Regina is in trouble, and I think it also shows his guilt that he easily took Regina’s word. He was willing to trust her word on the matter and–as far as we can see–never looked for her, and because of that, Belle had been locked away for who knows how long. Then he says he will protect her, and that shows he does not want to repeat the mistakes he has made before. We already got that briefly when he thought August was Bae. When he says that Belle will remember, he sounds almost frightened, as though he fears what her reaction will be when she recalls how he had treated her.
We don’t what happens afterwards–we can guess that he quickly leaves the shop (he seemed to be in a real hurry) and takes her with him. And then when Belle remembers, he actually looks truly frightened, and that shows that he has been living in regret. He looks afraid of her reaction, if she will reject him, yell at him, or walk away from him. Yet she says she loves him, and the pure relief and love is present in both his expression and voice. He finally admits that he loves her.elleParticipantI don’t see why Cora would marry Rumpelstiltskin–she thinks (thought?) very highly of herself, and if people ever found out that she had not only been married to a coward, but had left her son, it would have been bad for her. She may have terrorized her husband and daughter, but to the public, she was a genteel, kind woman and mother.
In honesty, I think there is a connection between Cora and Rumpelstiltskin, but not marriage–Cora probably made some sort of deal with him, and that was how she got to her postion. I don’t see Rumpelstiltskin giving her powers–why want competition?
As for Rumpelstiltskin’s wife, I think she willingly left him. In Desperate Souls, the soldiers mocked him for it, and Rumpelstiltskin confirmed it to Bae when the latter asked. She may appear in the series, maybe for some sort of story arc–and if she does make an appearence, it would probably be in the past, not present.elleParticipantThat is something to think of. Not sure if the potion will give Snow White and Prince Charming an advantage–not unless Rumpelstiltskin goes for it. But then again, Regina did say that magic was unpredictable in the real world.
We don’t know for sure if she was born with magic–she might have had the potential, but never really the inclination to do so until Daniel died. Her mother seemed extremely powerful–either it was power that she was born with, or one that she managed to obtain somehow. I know a lot of people think the theory of Rumpelstiltskin giving Cora power is sound, but that seems to be a stretch. Why make someone else very powerful? He’d have competition.
But I do agree that Regina probably won’t have her powers back right away. After everything that she has done–after the extreme power struggle–Rumpelstiltskin is not going to want her to have power. She’s going to have to get it back.
