I was sort of looking forward to more Emma and Neal then Rumpelstiltskin–they are the ones that might meet up in this episode after 11 years apart.
[adrotate group="5"]elleParticipantGold’s threat was very real, he meant what he said. Of course he made the threat out of the mood of the current situation with Belle, so somewhat hot-headed, but I am sure, that if any (more) harm would happen to Belle, we would see a furious Gold, lashing out at anyone he helds responsible. Rumple likes to blame others, as he blamed the Blue Fairy for his failure to trust his son and go with him, and likes to shift responsibilities on to others, manipulating them into doing things for his own merit, taking advantage of their wishes and fears, pretending he leaves them any real choices. That was a real threat he made, and I hope it will come back to haunt him. It should.
I agree. I understand why he did what he did, but putting the whole responsibility on the Charming Family is just a way for him to have someone to blame other than himself.
I also don’t think he would kill Emma. So far, she hasn’t done anything but help him really. She has actually been pretty much maintaining some level of peace in the town. At least until Cora decides to change that, and judging from the spoilers, she will. Nor would she kill him–she may not like him or trust him, but it doesn’t give her motive. Even with the threat, I think she will be on her guard–she may feel a bit of sympathy for him, seeing him struggle outside Stroybrooke and all, but I doubt they will be fast friends.
I have a feeling that Emma may not be that easy to kill, even for Rumpelstiltskin. Cora (who is probably almost on par with her former teacher) could not even rip her heart out.
elleParticipantI don’t think he was a coward, but was far from sympathetic, either. The way he refused to heal Greg got to me–I was a bit more sorry for him in the scene because of how distraught he was about Belle, but to say that he didn’t owe any of them anything is a bit much. The Prince Charming and Emma had done nothing but help him–Prince Charming especially helped Rumpelstiltskin with saving Belle. But I did feel for him a bit in that scene, and in the scene where he tried to get Belle to remember.
Some people do say that he tried a bit too much to get her to remember (and I agree) but it was a bit understandable.
With Rumpelstiltskin leaving, it is realistic–he loves Belle, but Baelfire is his son, too. 🙂 He loves him and has been waiting for the moment for years, so it is understandable that he would look for him as soon as he could cross the border.
And I think him leaving Belle was also him trying to give her some space–she wasn’t reacting well to him. She is confused and troubled. She may need some time to herself. Once she calms down, she may be more open to spending more time with him.
The only part of the episode that made me hate him was the end, when he threatened to kill the whole Charming Family, especially the way he looked at Henry as he threatend him. Threatening to kill a boy or make him an orphan is horrible–the fear in Henry and the anger and helplessness with the others was what made me find less sympathy with Rumpelstiltskin.
elleParticipantI think Emma will at first feel bad for him. But when/if she learns that Rumpelstiltskin was the one to let Baelfire go, her sympathy might decrease a bit. Neal himself will be furious when he learns how his father endangered his son’s life and manipulated the woman he loves.
Also, I see Emma not willing to leave Henry alone with Rumpelstiltskin during the trip–Emma is not someone that forgives or forgets easily. The only reason why she was being more open with Regina is because they both love Henry. Rumpelstiltskin has just threatend his life–a parent’s love for their child is powerful. It has been shown numerous times in the show.
The only way that Emma may be more open to him is Nealfire. I think with tiemt they will bond, and as they bond, Emma may be more open to Rumpelstiltskin.
I do agree that this is just another thing for Rumpelstiltskin to feel guilty of…again. I might sound cold, but I am a bit tired of the sympahty being built for him. After a while he becomes less sympathetic.
The relationship with the Charming Family and Rumpelstiltskin is interesting–they will probably be a bit on shaky ground for a while, but they will eventually become closer.
elleParticipantI forgot the scene where Regina takes the Huntsman heart and the one where she kills him.

18). Rumpelsiltskin and Belle’s scene in the library.
19). Every single flashback in Tallahassee,
20). When Emma chains Captain Hook.
21). When Emma talks to the Giant.elleParticipantEmma was able to see past Captain Hook’s bravado as a cover for his pain in losing Milha.
Captain Hook never threatend her family, though. And just because she has shown sympathy for him, does not mean that she trusts him or even likes him. The way she treated him during the interrogation shows that. Or the way she chained him up and later fought him for the compass show that.
And Emma and Rumpelstiltskin have never been close–she has never been a fan of his and has done her best to stay away from him as much as possible.
Also, this is Emma’s family–the family that she has been looking for, the family that she has always wanted. She finally has them in her life and someone comes up to them and threatens to kill them all. Even if he was just broken, Emma will not take kindly to that, nor should she. I see her being more protective oof henry during the trip.
And she and Neal are not going to be all lovely and reunited that quickly (at least I hope not). She is still going to feel betrayed, and even more manipulated that the father of her child is the son of Rumpelstiltskin.
January 24, 2013 at 3:14 am in reply to: I missed a scene HOW / WHEN did David learn Emma had magic #169834elleParticipantI would like at least one scene with David and Emma alone. They’re always either with Mary Margaret, Henry, or a suspect. They have yet to have a single scene with just the two of them.
I agree. Emma ahs always been alone with her mom and Henry, but never with her dad. They had soome nice shared looks together, but never enough–not as much as Emma had in season 1 and in Fairytale Land.
elleParticipant1. Emma kills Gold.
2. Gold kills Emma.
I doubt that will happen. None of the core characters are going to get killed–at least not so early in the series. Maybe a bit later in the series, or even in the last season. But it is a bit too early to kill off a main character.
To be honest, I really don’t care how he was suffering–I get that he was in pain from Belle, and I felt for him at first. It was the way he just crashed into their family moment and threaten them with murder that got me. To threaten a whole family (especially a child) that has done nothing but actually help you a bit is just horrible.
What I see Emma doing is keeping Rumpelstiltskin away from her family, especially Henry. After his threat, she gonna be wary of him. Even if Neal is Baelfire, I don’t think that would change her mind.
January 24, 2013 at 3:00 am in reply to: In the name of my brother Favorite & Least Favorite Moments #169830elleParticipantFavorite Moment: Mr. Gold threatening the Charmings. What he threatened to do was terrible and completely uncalled for, but after seeing nearly every character act like a complete idiot in this episode, Mr. Gold’s ominous threat summed up my feelings about most of the characters on the show.
I don’t see how they were idiots in the episode. Emma was trying to do her job as sheriff–both to protect Captain Hook and help Belle and get Greg medical attention. Snow White and Prince Charming were (for the most part) not very active. They didn’t really have much to do. And Henry wasn’t really in this episode, save for being threatend.
The only thing Emma did wrong was the way she questioned Greg–she could have been a bit more strict with him. She seemed easy and didn’t even say much about his story of texting and all. In fact, she was equally disgusted by Captain Hook’s crime of erasing Belle’s memories.
Regina whimpering and conceding to Cora. Ugh, her character drives me up the wall. Is it bad that I sort of hope they kill Regina off at the end of the season? Is that just me?
I don’t want her dead, but I am sick of her whole symapthy arc. It might have been a bit better to at least have given more time–to see Cora having more time to manipulate Regina back to side. One scene Regina calls her mother a manipulator and admits that it was her mother’s fault that everyone was convinced of her guilt, and the next, she is crying over her shoulder.
I get that Cora was smart to use Henry to get to Regina and all, but it all felt to quickly, and a bit forced.
