The writers could have easily addressed this by having Hook’s body taken to the Underworld by Charon, rather than burying his corpse in Storybrooke.
I forgot that his body is buried in SB! So wait…what is the *plan* ??? Why are we going to the Underworld at all?! Emma’s going to find his soul, and then how is she going to get him out of there? If all she needs to do is split her heart then just split the heart in SB.
I….I….I need a drink
Perhaps they need his soul because he’s been dead too long. They tried reviving a certain dead someone with an enchanted heart before and he came back wrong all and had to be destoyed. Maybe they’ve worked out how to do it now without the deadee going all Frankenstein’s monster.

ellemo78ParticipantOkay season thoughts. I really liked this first half. There were issues and some plot holes and some ‘what the…, how tdid that happen?’ kind of moments, but I don’t really care about that stuff if I’ve been caught up with the storyline. By the time Excalibur was put back together I was getting a little frustrated that Emma hadn’t revealed her plan yet, but the pay off came very quickly after that. And if I re-watch the whole half season again (which no doubt I will) it won’t seem as long without the week-long wait between episodes.
I loved the Dark Hook twist. It should have been obvious that something horrible was going to happen because even with the Darkness Emma and Killian were just too happy being with each other while in Camelot. Both death scenes were so emotional. Three times she has watched him die! (Four if you count the drowning). Please don’t kill Killian anymore, I don’t think *I* can handle it, let alone Emma.
If I’m honest when I first heard about the Underworld I wasn’t too excited, but having heard A&E say how it’s going to be similar to season one has me intrigued.
I found it to have some pretty strong writing/stories in general. Even the new characters seemed to be far better integrated and made for some really interesting b-stories while still keeping focus on our core group (seems like they learned a bit from last season). I’m going to hold out hope that we get some more resolution to those Merida/Camelot story lines in the back half, because they seemed to setup some really interesting ideas that are now just lingering out there unresolved
I agree. It was nice to focus on the core cast again. The guest characters should be just that, there to create conflict, etc for the mian cast. But like you I do want some resolution to at least Merida. I found her annoying yet awesome at the same time. I assume that there might be some more beans starting to come about, since Tiny managed to grow one for Ruby and in one of the deleted scenes of S4A, Emma was talking to the Frozen characters about beans not being ready until Spring (something like that.)

ellemo78ParticipantI’ve really enjoyed this season, I know there has been lots of fluffy feels for CS, but the stuff I’ve enjoyed most were the less fluffy scenes. My God I am loving Dark Hook. I have watched ‘Birth’ and ‘Broken Heart’ so many times. He knows how to hurt and does it so well. More Dark Hook I say, but I have a feeling he won’t last (in Darkness form at least) beyond Sunday night. I’m not really digging on the constant pursuit for revenge on Rumple still, but damn it makes for some good scene between them. But I guess if you don’t take things at face value (Dark One tricks, Dark One lies) end game may become more apparent.
Wow Hook really took to magic like a duck to water. Especially for someone who never liked magic. I’m quite optimistic about things though. I love angst and heartbreak (I’m an angst junkie, the more the better). I’m not worried for Emma and Hook. Drama happens, they’ll work it out. I know there will be a lot of regret once the Darkness is destroyed and they all survive. They have to survive the Underworld first. There is always a crisis to deal with 🙂
I do find it weird that Dark Hook didn’t go all sparkly. Esp when he crushed Merlin’s heart. The only thing I can think of is that Hook has been dark before so the Darkness didn’t need to manifest on the outside.
Poor Emma is so distraught. I just want to give her a good hug. She was caught between a rock and a hard place. Finally talking about her future and not being afraid, so of course something terrible was going to happen to threaten that. There seems to be a pattern, if Emma is happy Regina can’t be and vice versa. I would have saved Hook too. And if she hadn’t lied to him about not having Excalibur and trusted him, he may not have given in to the Darkness so readily and they could have destroyed the Darkness together.
They’ll work through all this, it’s always darkest just before the dawn. All last season we had glimpses of Hook struggling to stay on the straight and narrow, so darkness is cleary a part of him, making him so susceptible when he’s thrown into a big chunk of Darkness. No one can go from good to evil, from evil to good easily. So this is just a minor hump in his overall redemption. And Emma won’t abandon him as she said.
Anyhoo just a few of my thoughts.

ellemo78ParticipantClearly these scenes were written/filmed as if they were happening back to back, because Regina is wearing the same outfit in both and she’s holding onto Hook’s hook. The writers are inserting these new flashbacks where they see fit :
Yeaaaaaaaah. Clearly. Thanks for that. I thought this is where it fit in but wow…sloppy.
Indeed! Wow, that is some shoe horning. They could at least be wearing the same outfits. But I guess that’s why Hook remarks it took Regina a long time to do her hair.

ellemo78ParticipantDoes anyone get the impression that Merlin may have known all along that Killian would turn dark? Merlins claim that he saw “bits and pieces” of future events along with his insistence to Emma not to pull the sword from the stone because of dire consequences sends a red flag. I also got the impression from Merlins demeanor when Killian was speaking to either him or Emma that things were serious. When they first met Merlin in Granny’s a few episodes ago he was jovial until Killian addressed him directly and then the smile was wiped from his face. He was also staring intently at Emma and Hook while they were saying their goodbyes before the trek to find Prometheus’ flame. He may not have known the ways and whys of it but I think Merlin has known the outcome of Dark Killian all along.
Now that we’ve seen Hook go dark, I agree, I think Merlin did know this future path. Do you think Hook may go after Arthur? Since he already wanted to rip his head off in the jail cell and now he knows it was Arthur’s pretty dodgy wielding of Excalibur that cut Hook in the first place.
also don’t believe he’s going to go all “dark one crazy” on Emma as the promo is leading us to believe. There’s more to the missing 3 weeks and all that talk about “love having to forgive anything” (or whatever the exact quote is) has to come back around.
I agree with you here too. He’s going to be pretty angry towards Emma, turning him into something he hates, and that he pleaded with her not to do it. But I don’t think that will last. His love will shine through eventually.

ellemo78ParticipantThere is no need for Hook to hear/see previous Dark Ones, as his Dark One-ness has come from the corruption of Merlin’s magic. Emma said she would use Merlin’s magic and the flame (not sure how those two things go together, but I’m willing to go with it) there are no Dark Ones in Merlin’s head and therefore no Dark One’s in Hook’s head b/c the magic that brought him back to life (thether his life to the blade) was once light. Merlin’s magic came before Nimue’s magic so there are no previous Dark Ones to see. Hook’s a new type of Dark One, like Nimue’s Dark One-ness which was a corruption of the Holy Grail’s magic.
Hook has been pretty angry this season in Storybrooke, lots of yelling and arguing and was quite happy to make Arthur pay for lying to them (this was before he knew of his Dark One status) If he’s not sleeping, he can write it off as being worried about Emma (which is perfectly reasonable. I’m sure they’ve only had a couple days back in SB after being in Camelot) And without Dark Ones in his head pushing him into using his Darkness, again he can write it off as his own personal demons giving him dark thoughts. But once he’s been shown it’s not his own thoughts, he can indulge. And why try and use magic if you don’t know you have it? Emma needed to be really pushed for her magic to surface the first time.

ellemo78ParticipantI’m going to go out on a limb and say it was a typo. I think it meant to say ‘500 years ago’, then Merlin’s ‘that was 500 years ago’ works as well. 2s and 5s are easy to mix up.

ellemo78ParticipantThis thread is a little dead, but it seems people have been scared off the forum, which is a shame.
I LOVED Hook’s reaction to Henry’s crush. Absolutely perfect. It made me giggle so much. Then more pain when you see how happy Emma and Hook are and compare to what happened last week. Does Emma remember all the horse riding and flowers and declarations of not giving up on them? (I assume so) And she gets a cold Hook dealing with a Dark One last week. Poor Emma, I just want to give her a hug.
Bits of the ep I wasn’t too keen about, but I did like the idea that Camelot is an illusion. It still is a broken kingdom.
I had a thought the other day while watching bits of the S4A arc final. Eddy/Adam (not sure which one) had mentioned S5B arc would be “hell”. In the S4A final Hook tells Gold something about the Dark One not being so fortunate in the next life. Rumple answers that Hook will have a long wait among the fire and brimstone (for that next life). The Dark One is in its ‘next life’, please don’t tell me Hook is going to hell. Hopefully I’ve just joined dots that aren’t there.

ellemo78ParticipantBTW, I am still suspicious about Emma’s motives – I find it really hard to believe she wants to snuff out the light with the sword+dagger. I suspect and hope she is trying to fool the darkness inside her and I think she wants to do the right thing, but is just using (manipulating?) the darkness to get it done.
I am too. I’m thinking along the same path. I think there is still a strong internal fight inside her and we’re only seeing one side of it. There are just some things she says that if she is just blindly obeying the Darkness kind of doesn’t make much sense. It feels like she’s pushing the ‘heroes’ to really work out what happened in Camelot and that she needs them to work it out. All that stuff with Excalibur and the dagger is sating the Darkness, keeping it happy. If Emma didn’t want them to know, why would she be so adamant that Regina can’t be the Saviour, and why say ‘are you worried Henry will really find out what happened?’ Also with DarkSwan’s first appearance, why make such a bold statement ‘you will all be punished’, if she didn’t want them to find out what happened? It feels like a reverse psychology, pushing them into acting by saying they can’t do it. Now to what end, I have no idea, but I’m hoping, hoping (!!) there is more to DarkSwan that what we’re seeing.
On the Jolly Roger scene, there was a moment in one of the times when Emma said ‘trust me’ that I almost believed her. Not to trust her right in that moment, b/c she was obviously there for the cutlass. It felt like a “I know things look bad now, but I’m doing something that will help us all in the long run. I can’t tell you everything b/c that will put you in danger, but if deep down you really do trust me, everything will work out” (I may be reading too much into this 😉 )
Emma looked so distraught at the ‘loved’, but I agree that it was definitely the right thing to do. It doesn’t mean Hook is going to give up on her, but it may also help Emma fight the Darkness. If she really wants to be with him, she needs to fight against the thing keeping them apart. It’s the whole love vs power thing. It didn’t work for Rumple and Hook saw it not working. So he definitely knew what he was doing. There’s still hope in his statement.
