You do get some genuinely interesting opinions and posts in the SF thread. However there are some tumblr posts that appear there that do just make you facepalm and laugh because of the stupidity especially the one about Hook coming out of a strip club.

Are you talking about the promo thread? LOL that was me. I was being funny. I thought it was hilarious Hook was coming out of a bar which says it’s “Ladies Night”. 😀

So I was thinking about the show this morning & wondering how you guys think they are going to handle the big bads for here on out? I’m not sure they can really keep going with 2 a season- there’s not really that many magical villains (& lets face it, with Regina, Rumple & Emma being powerful/all powerful- the bad guy either needs magic or to wield a magical object lol ;) )…

This may not be popular, but I’d almost like to see Rumple go ‘bad’ again for 1/2 to a full season to push his redemption/ choosing love/Belle/Henry over his addiction to power/magic arc forward. Then…

Not unpopular with me. I miss crazy imp Rumple doing all his weird accents and flailing hands. And it would push Belle a little more too, perhaps she can see that he hasn’t got that true heart she keeps spouting. And perhaps if his actions causes Belle to leave, he’ll realise he just can’t go around doing whatever he likes.

Do you guys think we’ll keep getting 2 big bads a season or drop back down to one again?
Do you think it might get repetitive if they are always fighting another big bad every half season/season?

Yes drop it back down to one, and yes. I think it will be a little formulaic if they keep going down the half season big bad. I think one of the main characters needs to go bad again, or at least dark. The first season was great b/c you essentially have four big bads, Regina, the Evil Queen, Rumple, Gold. Whereas these days Rumple isn’t as bad as what he was and Regina is turning, but in flashbacks they’re still their evil selves. So they obv need someone to fight, that is making a mess of their little lives in SB.

What else would you like to see happen, rather than fighting big bads?

I wish Snowing still wanted to go back to the EF, because that could have worked to break up always fighting someone…. I do want more info on the “the finale battle” & it’s “beginning” …. we’ve not heard anything about that since the pilot. I am interested to find out what happens to the EF if most of the iconic figures have abandoned the place to come here- what repercussions does that have on fairy tales in general?- since our fairy tales are their reality. What are the repercussions of bringing magic to a land without magic? Do our FTL characters even want to stay in SB? Do they want to move out into other areas of our world, go back to EF etc. It’s not like Snowing (as far as we know), gave everyone the option of being transported back to SB or not… maybe there could be backlash from that…. I just hope we get some other situations rather that always fighting some big bad all the time, if you know what I mean :)

I’m with you. The constant new season or even half season big bad will get old I reckon. They’ve already got some pretty good situations they can use. For one, how is the townline going to work now? Can people leave? Can they deal with life outside their little magical town? We’ve got a few characters who don’t have modern day memories (Hook, Hood and his Merry Men, Tink) surely they can do something with that.
I think Grumpy said he was homesick at one point. It’s strange how Snowing didn’t give anyone a choice on whether or not they came back to SB under the new curse. They knew that the curse didn’t take absolutely everyone in FTL, they could have given people a chance to get outside the curse (or get put in a Cora-esque bubble) and stay in the EF if they wanted. It was a bit selfish really for Snowing to cast the curse again, when in reality it was only their family affected by the WWotW’s plan.

Lol, I grew up with brothers, sister & mother who all ate jello- for some weird reason I cant stand the stuff & have always thought it looked freaky no matter what colour- green, purple, red, orange, pink or blue lol. I still grimace when I get offered the stuff *shudders just thinking about it*

You don’t like jelly??? Oh wow, I didn’t think there was anyone in the world who didn’t like jelly! Well I never liked it with ice-cream, but still, it’s brilliant! And blue jelly was always my favourite, the less natural looking, the better. 😉

Awesome meta! (took me a while to read it all!) even though it’s nice confirmation, it’s easy for someone to read something entirely different into it as stated. Weird how the brain works sometimes. I guess that’s why the put the more obvious scenes in (like Tink saying Hook risked himself for Emma, etc) so the entire audience understands if they haven’t picked things up from the subtle scenes – however some people still manage to ignore what’s right in front of their eyes.

I hadn’t noticed the empty chair at Granny’s either. That just makes that scene even more sad.

    @Epona
    – I had the same issue when I first watched it, if it was so easy for Ariel to find Eric, why didn’t she just do that in the first place? However after a bit of a think, I assume that she’s only just found out about Eric being kidnapped, since she got the information from one of Eric’s men who escaped off the Jolly Roger while in port. She must have heard Capt Hook was in the village and sought out him first as she knew the JR belonged to him. So I don’t think she had been searching very long (if at all) before she commanded Hook to help her out.

And I think I have been immersed in this fairy tale land way too long, last night I had the weirdest cross over dream between Frozen and that new Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy movie (which I haven’t seen!) but in the middle of some weird body swap thing between OUAT Elsa and Hook (a la Pan and Henry) I have an animated Tom Hiddleston as the young Capt Hook with his all singing and dancing naval crew popping up in the middle of it all. I’m not sure what was going on. I woke up feeling very confused. 😉

Like in Dark Hollow or one of the other episodes, Neal’s talking and Emma watches Hook pass through the frame.

Did she? I totally missed that. *goes to find scene*

Just taking a moment to LMAO at the idea of a child saying “I believe” = Pan’s shadow demon thing turning up to snatch them away to NL ….. Shouldnt there be like a butt ton more kids in NL if that’s the case, I’d have thought the Island would have sunk under the weight of every boy who’s uttered “I believe” over the past 300-350 odd years lol :P

Someone said the other day – sorry I can’t remember who – that you have to be looking at the second star to the right saying ‘i believe’ before the Shadow comes for you. Don’t know if that’s right though. Or maybe the boys weren’t just ‘lost’ enough for Pan and he sent them back. Who knows!

This kind of turned into 10 favourite moments rather scenes, but that’s kind of the same thing and I’m being lazy not finding a clip for each, so I hope I explained them well enough 🙂 In no particular order:

Snow White punching out Regina on the Jolly Roger. I’m not sure what else to say, apart from it was well over due. Go Snow! I also loved Regina’s “rainbow stickers and unicorn kisses” remark.

Hook and Charming burgeoning bromance. Both of them reluctantly agreeing with each other with remarks of “I’m starting to win you over, I can tell” “See I told you we were getting along” “You would have liked him (Charming’s twin) he was a thief and liar” “You would have liked my brother, he was a stubborn arse” They are from opposite ends of the spectrum, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get along.

Emma’s lost girl confession to Snow – even though the writers said it was originally supposed to be Hook she confessed too, I’m glad it was Snow. It’s a good open moment between mother and daughter that they don’t get to have very often.

Emma and Charming father-daughter moments. There is something rather convincing about the way Charming relates to Emma which shows them in a father-daughter relationship. The scenes I enjoyed most were Charming telling Emma to embrace the moments – he looks so proud later on when she repeats his words to Pan-Henry – and I loved how fatherly he becomes when telling Emma she has to take Hook along to fight the Witch and how petulant she is – you could just imagine it was a teenage daughter complaining that her dad is telling her to be nice to the unpopular kid at school.

This is an emotional moment that moved me to tears the first time I watched it. During Neal’s funeral (which tbh was pretty emotional full stop) when Hook shovels the first lot of dirt into the grave, as soon as the dirt hits the coffin they cut to Rumple falling down, clutching at his heart. Like he was feeling that moment, truly knowing that his son was gone and he couldn’t be there to mourn. That just gets me every time.

This father-daughter moment gets a separate mention as it involves Snow too. I loved the simple moment of Charming and Emma trying to put together a cot for the new baby. Snow is sitting there fretting and worrying about Zelena, whereas Emma is just annoyed that Wrench F was not provided. It’s such a beautiful family moment. And then to bring in Regina who is there to protect the new baby is such a testament to how far they’ve come and what the relationship between step-mother and step-daughter should have been all those years ago. And a pre-curser to the Snow and Regina moments after the seance.

Belle really came out of her shell in this season. Without Rumple she was becoming that strong woman she was before she was locked up be Regina. She and Ariel managed to get the better of the Darling brothers and she called out Hook for his past deeds against her. But my favourite was when she called out Regina. Regina just assumed that Belle would automatically help her, but Belle stood her ground and told her to ‘get out’. It’s nice to see the people wronged by Regina standing up to her.

Another moment that made me tear up was Charming sacrificing his life for the curse. It was just heart breaking (no pun intended). The way Snow kept his eye contact while she crushed his heart was wrenching. Coupled with the earlier scene of the Snow and Charming finding the snow bell flower which showed just how sweet and perfect they are for each other, made the sacrifice even more devastating.

I can’t go past Hook’s apology to Ariel. Zelena obviously was playing him, slowly making him more and more guilty as the day wore on; praising him, giving him hugs of thanks, finally his bravado breaks and he pours his heart and soul out to her. Colin played it so well.

And finally there were many scenes in the finale I enjoyed (Hook punching Hook; Rumple being his impish self – I’ve missed that; campfire bromance between Hook and Charming; Emma flirting up a storm with past!Hook) but the one I like most is the aftermath of Snow’s ‘death’. Hook and Emma are just sitting quietly, Hook mentions his brother‘s death (which he is loath to do) trying to comfort her, finally she realises that Snow can’t be dead and her transformation is instant. There is the cute moment with the bug attack and then finally when Snow comes back, I don’t think Emma could have been happier and Snow’s polite reaction to the weird mad-women hugging her is actually quite sweet.

This one isn’t a scene, but I’d like to put in a good word for The Tower episode. It’s not my favourite episode, but the way it is shot is just stunning; the stillness, the long shots in the beautiful surroundings. I think they really got lucky with the snow fall as it just added that extra layer of eeriness to the episode that was already freaky with the strange dream sequence and the creepy dopplegangers in hoodies. I do have a favourite scene in this episode though; it had no dialogue or music, just the footsteps of Emma and Hook crunching in the snow as they walk up to the farmhouse from the woods. After their big emotional scene they walk in silence, with one glance at each other and then continue up the hill. Something about that scene just appeals to me.

Okay that’s technically eleven, but I was having trouble narrowing it down anyway 🙂

LOL I never noticed Neal screaming before either! Funny!! Although in regards to Pan’s shadow, that was the shadown the inhabited the island before Pan decided to live there yeah? So it could be ‘his’ shadow in terms of being a pet shadow or something rather than his actual shadow he ripped off, a la Rumple.
