ParticipantLove the vid! You really see their development over the past couple seasons. š
I wish I had mad video editing skillz. I keep finding songs that I’d love to make a vid for.

ParticipantOn this ‘you only like him cos he’s hot’ argument. Well duh, of course I like him because he’s hot. He is stunning and those eyes! *fans self* Capt Hook is supposed to be ‘the most handsome man ever’, that’s part of why he’s a successful pirate. He uses those looks all the time to his advantage (he’d be silly not to) But his looks aren’t the reason he should be with Emma. If I’m honest he’s the reason I kept watching season 2. I had the hope he would continue being the playful pirate he was in Tallahassee (which I think he has returned to, esp after the last episode) He and Emma play off against each other so well.
There’s a difference in appreciating someone who is aesthetically pleasing and liking them as a person/character. For example, (since Draco was mentioned earlier) I love the actor Jason Isaacs (I find him quite easy on the eye), but his Lucius Malfoy is a horrible awful man and no amount of good looks would ever endear him to me. I enjoy watching him getting his comeuppance.
Hook was similar. I didn’t like him when he was working with Cora, good looks or not. And he deserved to be hit by a car. But I’m not allowed to appreciate said good looks? š

ParticipantAnd here I was thinking he was called Killian as a nod to Colin being Irish. š

ParticipantI too was wondering if Killian and Liam were full brothers. If Killian had been abandoned by his father on a ship, he could have just as easily been taken in by the family of the captain and raised along side of Liam. He told Bae that āI was abandonedā he didnāt use āWeā to include his brother.Ā I found it strange given how precise the casting usually is that they would find an actor who looked nothing like Colin to play his brother. Hopefully weāll get more of that story next season.
I hope they are full brothers. This is my headcanon: I always assumed that Liam was about 8-10 years older than Killian. So if Liam went off to join the Navy at 18, Killian would have been 10 or so. It’s possible their father offered to sail the realms with Killian after their mother died/disappeared/fell thru a portal ( I don’t know what happned to her). Then he abandoned Killian and their plans, hence Killian saying ‘he abandoned me‘ b/c Liam had already left home.

ParticipantI kind of hope Killian doesn’t turn out to be said spoiler. He’s perfect the way he is, he doesn’t need any of that to make him better.

ParticipantOn the subject of the book, Bae was in the book which he showed Tamara in Selfless, Brave and True.
Damn, was he? There goes my theory out the window.

Participant@epona_610 – Yes I agree, the peasants wouldn’t have the refined dancing of the upper society. It is hard without proper dates but I’d guess Killian’s naval uniform looks to be the very quintessential British naval hero type. So around the time of Nelson? Not 100% sure when that was, 1780s? 1800? So society would be a Jane Austen type of thing, hence Killian looking like he raided Mr Darcy’s wardrobe for the ball.
And I heartily encourage rewatching Good Form. I love that ep. Not just for obvious CS reasons, I had such a crush on the bloke who plays Liam when I was a teen. š
@jenven – I hope they delve more into Killian’s back story too, esp as a kid. (and how cute would that kid be???) If they do, it’ll be interesting to see who his father was, since the name Jones (as in Davy) is connected to the sea.If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness

ParticipantEDIT: LOL, just saw everyoneās covered my points on the book in previous postsā¦. I should really learn to type faster :p
Confirmation is always good š
Iāve wondered that too, how much Emma and her family know about his past. (Iāve also wondered whether Emma knows about Milah and why exactly he and Rumpel hate(d?) each other so much.) And for that matter, Iām curious about his past as well. He said his father was a fugitive and abandoned him, but if presumably he did have to have come from some sort of noble family to be a Naval officer, how did that work? Iād love to see more information about that, although I donāt think itās likely unless it has some relevance to whatever is going on in present-day Storybrooke. Gah, looking forward to next season so much!
Okay I’m going on my Hornblower knowledge here (so historically who knows if its very accurate, but since we’re talking fiction anyway it prob doesn’t matter). I don’t think you had to be noble to get into the Navy. If you were young enough you could start as a Midshipman (lowest commission) and work your way up the ranks. In the Hornblower series he was the son of a doctor with no connections, but he was well educated. This is how I imagine both Killian and Liam. Liam seems a little bit older so he went to the Navy first and Killian wanted to be like his big brother and prob went into the Navy once his father ran off.

ParticipantMaybe the book only revolves around their family and until there is a story in connection with them it does not appear.
I had that thought too. That would make sense. So in terms of the book, the only part of Rumpel’s story, for example, that appears would be when he associating with the Charmings? That would therefore exclude all of his backstory and Bae’s and Milah’s and Hook’s. Oh I just had a thought! That would be why August put his story in the book! B/c the Charmings didn’t know what deal Geppetto did with the Blue Fairy to save Pinocchio. Right, I think it makes sense now š
Ā Neverland. Shouldnt they all be in the book then with the Henry rescue in NL.
I had assumed the book only went up to the curse and not beyond.

Participant@obisgirl – how did you manage to hold out so long? I was literally climbing the walls to see it and I only had a few hours to wait!!
Actually I have a question about the book. Is Capt Hook’s (and by association Peter Pan) story already in the book? ‘cos if it was then they were pretty stupid not to know that Pan was a villain and that Pan was Rumpel’s father. And on that, do the Charmings know Killian was a naval officer at one point in his life? Does what the audience see in flashback become known by the characters? I know he told Charming his brother was his Captain, but he could have been talking pirate captain. I only wonder b/c Emma seemed surprised that Killian could dance and I assumed he probably went to balls when he was in the royal navy, but she didn’t make that connection. So does she even know what he was before being a pirate?
