ParticipantI believe I’m with the general consensus here in agreeing that I was happy without TLK. I think what we got was even better. It was very sweet, and it really annoys me that people can turn a beautiful moment between two people obviously in love into a supposed ‘obligation’. As in Emma only kissed Killian because she felt obligated to do something for him after he said he traded his ship for her. Grrr really really annoys me. I have to learn not to read biased reviews, they really tainted my love for this episode this morning, but screw them I don’t care anymore.
This was such a good old-fashioned adventure story and I’m not ashamed to say I loved every minute of it. (Even if it wasn’t CS-centred I still would have enjoyed it). There were princes & princesses, drunken pirates, a beautiful ball (complete with fairy god-mother moment), sword fights, daring rescues (well almost), devastating lows and dramatic highs and of course true love. And it was funny. The only thing missing was a dragon, but I forgive them for that. ๐
I even liked the way that getting back to the future was actually easy. Seriously, we all knew Emma would get her magic back after Rumple told them the secret to the wand (and that makes sense with the Pan & Henry body switch too). It also echoes the last time she was open with her feelings she got the map of Neverland to work.
So many wonderful moments between our pirate and his princess. I can’t choose one favourite, although jealous Killian punching out Hook is a top runner. That still makes me smile just thinking about it. ๐ And Emma being all flirty with Hook, she took to that so easily. I bet she’s always wanted to do that. (btw, I will call him Killian from here on in, as seeing Hook laid out on the floor is a definite nod to that side of him being gone. And on that, please please for the love of all things that are good and holy, give him some new clothes!! He can keep the leather coat though. If I could get away with wearing something like that I so would, it’s gorgeous! But maybe just some jeans and a modern shirt/vest. Something!)
It’s always the small things that I love. I loved Emma back-handing Killian’s arm for being cheeky with Charming about giving up Abigail. And them actually taking what he said for the joke that it was. I thought that showed he was finally being accepted into their little clique. No matter how much he’s helped this this season, he’s always been the one step away from truly being accepted. I wonder if Charming does actually remember that campfire chat he had with ‘Charles’.
In regards to Marion coming back, I can’t remember where I read this, or who said it,ย so my apologies (I’m sure it was here somewhere), but I agree that since the fairy dust showed Robin to Regina *before* Robin got with Marion, that it will be Robin and Regina that end up together. Robin obv loves his Marion, but she is alive in the world where she shouldn’t be. (like the Doctor Who ep, Father’s Day – the world kept wanting to ‘kill’ the man who wasn’t supposed to be alive in the altered timeline) I really hope Regina doesn’t revert to type.
One more thing, I’m in two minds about the new Neal. It’s nice they wanted to honour him, but they didn’t think it weird to name their baby after their daughter’s ex? Why didn’t they name him Baelfire? That way Neal is still honoured, but doesn’t have the same stigma to the name. Emma only really knew him as Neal and I don’t think ‘Baelfire’ would be as awkward for her. Although she didn’t seem too phased since as soon as she found out the kid’s name she immediately went looking for Killian.
And that was a little longer than I meant to write ๐ So many good things. Happy thoughts indeed!

ParticipantThink of it this way โ what if they wanted Hook and Colin had somehow beenโฆlackluster? (Ok letโs say that actually they just cast someone else by mistake cause Colin is perfect as Hook and of course didnโt mess it up! After all he was told going in that there was a bit of PB in him and he even did the voice in 2ร04 โ it was always part of his character to be compared to Westley/DPR!) So letโs say that whoever was in his place failed MISERABLY and they were dreadful together but he was already introduced as Captain Hook so that was just over and done with, shall we?
They pretty much said as much on the DVD commentary of 2×21/22 (I can’t remember which one) saying that if Colin wasn’t as good as he was, they wouldn’t have gone down the path they wanted.
And now for internet blackout until I get a chance to watch today’s ep. Have fun guys! ๐

ParticipantA&E canโt really say Hook was NEVER meant to be written as a villain when what we have seen on the show proves otherwise. Either that or their definition of villain is kind of skewed.
He was a pretty rubbish villain though. Yeah he did some bad stuff, but nowhere to the scale of the proper villains. For everything he did to someone he got paid back for it. And Belle was going to be killed because of her connection with Rumple. She said she wouldn’t kill Rumple and that’s when Hook turned on her. Killing Belle would have hurt Rumple (then he didn’t know just how much, but would find out later). It seems that all the other things he did came from revenge, eye for an eye kind of thing. Emma left him up the beanstalk, he left her in the cell. Regina tried to feed him to Maleficent, he handed her over to GOAT, but didn’t participate in her torture. So I understand when A&E say he wasn’t written as a villain, because in this world villains are extremely evil, doing things because they can with no conscience about it.

ParticipantI go back and watch “Tallahasse” a lot. (probably too much) It’s one of my favourites. Hook is so playful in it. It still makes me giggle when he’s telling the ladies to ‘really get into it’ when they’re fighting about who goes up the beanstalk with him. (Hm, that sounds like a euphemism). You can tell he was never meant to be the villian. I’ve never noticed how much stuff was in that episode until it was pointed out., I didn’t even notice the correlation between Hook smelling the gold coin and Emma smelling the sandwich they had repectively lifted! So anything more subtle is going to go right over my head. Props to the ‘fire & water’ theory too.

Participant…are you from down under…?
Yep! I am indeed. ๐
After reading the A&E interview, I’ve come to the conclusion you’d have to be a blind horse not to see where they wanted Hook and Emma to go. Neal just threw a spanner in the works, she was never going to go back to him. He was just an obstacle. I’ve read people say that he didn’t have to die, Emma only had to choose. But I think having Neal die makes things easier for MRJ as an actor. That way he’s not hanging around in the background just being ‘Henry’s father’. (And honestly, what else was there for Neal to do, if he wasn’t going to get with Emma again?) There are already complaints about “where’s Ruby? where’s Mulan?” because the actors have gone off to do other things. If Emma chose Hook (and of course she was always going to) when Neal isn’t in every single episode they’ll be asking “where’s Neal?” It makes a clean break. Also if Neal hadn’t died we wouldn’t get back evil!Rumple, who I enjoy immensely ๐

ParticipantIt’s joyous to behold that one little word can bring such happiness ๐ (I really must stop reading another particular thread, it always puts a damper on things)
I’m not entirely sure when watching the episode you’re all going to be able to handle it!! This thread is going to be “dead from feels” I just know it. ๐ But from awesome awesome feels! (and I can’t believe I just used the term “feels”)
Btw @jenven – I use Dolphin as a browser on my phone, I prefer it over Firefox ๐
