I liked the promo very much! I was thinking maybe they could corrupt Emma by the end of the season and next season Emma could be the big bad, with Regina and Hook and Rumple – all the previous villains – working with the heroes to defeat her/bring her back to the side of good. Might be an interesting twist.
Having seen the promo now I am more interested in the QoD storyline. It really hasn’t been grabbing me, but that’s piqued my attention.
Funny that I saw the promo and then caught up on the latest episode of Sleepy Hollow seeing Katrina go all dark. Kind of similar storylines.

ellemo78ParticipantI’m pretty much going to agree with everything you just said @Jenna_B. I enjoyed dark!Belle because it showed Belle did have some misgivings about her and Rumple, and even deep down she didn’t really believe he ever gave her the proper dagger. I love Rumple continuing to be conniving and villainous. It would be exceedingly boring if he got over his power struggle so quickly and settled down to have Rumple/Belle babies (snorefest). I loved the Rumple/Hook arc. Yes Hook walked right into the trap, and you could see Rumple perk up as soon as Hook said he wanted his hand back for Emma. He had a ‘love is a weapon’ plan forming right there and then.
And I agree, it was to show just how much those two characters have changed or not changed as the case may be. Hook is reverting back (not totally) to the good man he once was as the naval officer since he has no more vengeance in his heart. He has Emma now, he doesn’t need to avenge his first love. There’s no need for him to do the bad things he’d done in the past. But if Emma is murdered then we’re in trouble, cue evil!Hook. Hehee. Also he’s trying to make his way in this world. He becomes more piratey (esp with Rumple) b/c that’s what he’s known for so long, you can’t just push that to one side and forget about it.
I love Rumple b/c he’s so complex. I’ve been sitting here for a good hour trying to put in words just what he is. He’s a victim of circumstance, yes. He’s a coward, yes. He’s a power hungry addict, yes. He’s a loving father, yes. He’s a loving (although lying) husband, yes. And he is a lot more things. It’s great I can’t quite work him out and I love him for that flaws and all. He’s a great character and as soon as I see him settling down into domesticity is when I tune out.

ellemo78ParticipantI need a Hook Beauty friendship so bad. There was a point made in the last Captain Swan podcast that anyone from Rumple’s family who was not loved properly, Hook was almost always there to pick up the pieces. I look forward to a Hook and Belle friendship, and OMG, Hook and Snow are actually talking to each other. In an actual conversation too!!!
Oh yes me too! I’m so with you there.
That’s a pretty good point about Hook, I’d never thought about it like that, but it kind of fits.
A lot of fic I’ve read tends to have Snow disliking Hook, and I’ve never understood where that animosity has come from. Apart from a few looks of disdain when Hook was being inappropriate in the old days (Emma and Ruby gave him those as well) there was never any true dislike – not that I saw. She was always cordial with him once he became Team Hero, but it will be nice to see them actually converse. If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness
ellemo78ParticipantHello again after a long break. I think I needed it. I was getting pretty depressed and angry reading hateful blogs and the like, so I thought I’d distance myself from the whole thing for a while. But like @obisgirl, I do miss the interactivity in this thread, so here’s hoping once the new eps start we can have some nice conversations 🙂
I love the new pics!! I’m so glad for the Belle and Hook blossoming friendship, it will be interesting once Rumple gets back to see how all that plays out. Delicious!

ellemo78ParticipantI pretty much wrote this in another thread, but Rumple is pretty much as grey as you get. He’s not good or evil, he wants power and doesn’t care who has has to work with, or who he steps on to get that. I think he’s counting the days until Belle gives up on him. She’s already having doubts (mirror). She is his last chance at redemption, esp with Neal out of the picture. Regardless of how earnest he was at Neal’s grave, that was *before* he found the hat again. Everything he wanted to do, to be a better man for his son, for his wife, went out the window when he saw his chance of more power, the chance to free himself from the dagger.
Also, I don’t think the ‘wife-stealing’ or Belle attacks are the reason Rumple wants to revenge himself on Hook. I’ve thought the deep pleasure he’s getting playing with Hook is because Hook stole the bean, and therefore his first chance to follow Bae. Had the bean been in Hook’s hand when he cut it off he would have had Bae back 200 years ago. This man made Rumple wait two centuries to see his son. He got revenge for the ‘wife-stealing’ by killing said wife. He got to beat Hook for the Belle attacks (Belle stopped Rumple from killing him). I think the deep seated hate comes from the bean betrayal. Anyway, I digress.
So I must be the only one who really likes what they’re doing with Rumple’s character. I totally understand why he wants to get rid of his dagger and keep his power. Is it not enough that he just wants to free himself from the dagger’s control? Does there have to be a ‘bigger’ reason? He was Zelena’s puppet all though S3B, during that time he lost his son and never got a proper chance to grieve. Belle tried to use the dagger on him, the one person who he thought never would. All of a sudden he finds the hat box again and here’s his chance. He wants his cake and to eat it too. He no longer has Neal to keep him on the straight and narrow. Belle usually does a pretty good job of curbing Rumple’s homicidal instincts, but she’s not Neal and blood is thicker than water. Belle has to beg/plea to get Rumple to listen to her, Neal just had to ask/tell him. Rumple’s been doing this for hundreds of years. Kicking a power addiction after that long must be a hard habit to break, especially since all he knew before was ridicule and abandonment. Why would he want to go back to that? Much easier to slip back into the ways he knows, even if it means risking Belle.

ellemo78ParticipantI got the feeling that all Rumple wants is to be free from the dagger. I’m not sure he actually wants to take over the world like the SQ kind of suggested when she asked for Storybrooke to be hers. He doesn’t want to have that weakness of being controlled by the dagger. Considering that’s what happened to him last season he doesn’t want it to happen again. Hence him trusting Belle not to ever use the dagger on him. (yeah I know it’s a fake, but the intention was there.) Having Belle of all people try to control him with it has intensified his desire for freedom. When he was the DO in the EF he could do whatever he wanted. He never wanted to rule the EF (he kind of did in his own way, but to be a monarch like Regina, no) he just sat back in his castle and did what he wanted. And what he wanted was to find his son. Now Bae is out of the way, he no longer has his conscience to pull him back from doing horrible things. Just like he did absolutely anything he could to get to our world, unfortunately the way to get his freedom means hurting others and his freedom (and power) is more important. I saw someone call him ‘Goldemort’ on Tumblr, which is quite appropriate. “There is no good and evil, only power” that pretty much seems like Rumple’s motto at the moment. However he still has a sliver of good that can love Belle. And all there needs to be is a sliver for redemption. Honestly I don’t think he’s going to be redeemed. Not too soon anyway. The only time he has shown remorse was when he let Bae go through the portal. Not even Hook reminding him that Emma is Henry’s mother gave him pause. Emma isn’t anything to Rumple apart from a means to an end. Rumple was boring last season. *He* was that one that wanted to taste vengeance again, not Hook and he’s relishing it. He’s taking out his own puppet situation of 3B on Hook, surely the only person left who has wronged him that he hasn’t defeated/killed. I love him and I hate him! Wonderful!

ellemo78ParticipantRemember how everyone said they couldn’t wait for the day Rumple found out Regina had Belle locked up in the hospital for 28 years?? I can’t wait for the day Emma finds out Rumple ripped out her boyfriend’s heart.
Rumple is going to be in some serious trouble if/when Emma finds out. If Ingrid can now harness the trio’s magic, I assume Emma can too. The magic of three powerful, and in case of two, witches (sorceresses? magicians? what do we call them?) whose magic comes from love, I think Rumple is in for a rough time. And as Emma said she can’t lose Hook, I think I’m going to enjoy the lengths she’ll go to rescue him.
I love that they’re keeping Rumple a villain tho. Bobby plays that menace so well. And anything that gets Colin to do his angsty acting is alright by me. But this will be a pretty big thing Rumple will have to come back from if he survives. I mean surely the Charmings & Co will not allow Rumple to roam free once they realised what he’s been doing, esp to their beloved Saviour.

November 18, 2014 at 7:37 pm in reply to: TV Guide 11/18: Once Creators Preview the Spell of Shattered Sight Curse #290772ellemo78ParticipantI hope she doesn’t end up in the hat. Wouldn’t it be nice if the season arc villain actually stayed alive? If Ingrid gets over her “must replace dead sisters with the power of three to the detriment of all normals” magic-ist behaviour, perhaps she, Elsa and Anna (if she’s found and I assume she will be) can live happily ever after as a family. Hope springs eternal.

ellemo78ParticipantTraditionally yes. The person who holds the heart has to follow the person’s orders.
I think Rumple saved Hook from the Spell of Shattered Sight. Why I think Gold just saved Killian from the Shattered Sight Spell?
Once that spell is cast, it’ll become painfully obvious Hook doesn’t have his heart.
I agree with you. That was my first thought when Rumple said he was going to have some fun before killing Hook. Without his heart he can’t be affected by the spell yeah?
Our poor little pirate. He is getting royally screwed over from the bad guys. Zelena tormented him with his guilt. Rumple is using his love for Emma against him. They poor guy can’t catch a break. He’s always in over his head, going up against serious magic wielders and yet he still survives. I sure he’ll survive this, but how much more torment can they put him through?
Also, I hadn’t realised about his heart being bright red until @obisgirl pointed it out. With years of pirating and vengeance it probably should be darker than it was. But nope, our pirate does not have a rotten heart. Considering the previous times he was about to get his heart ripped out they didn’t actually manage it, I was hoping that with Emma regaining control of her powers (right before Rumple took his heart) that perhaps her love might have saved him from the heart-rip (like when Cora tried to take Emma’s heart in whatever episode that was), but alas it was not to be.

ellemo78ParticipantSo re: Robin & Regina/Marian –
Am I the only one that thinks we’re doing to have a thawed out Marian next ep…thanks to Robin and Regina’s TL kiss? I think the writers are going to try to worm their way out of this OQ fiasco by showing how powerful Robin/Regina’s TL is, and Marian understanding…it’s a stretch but I think that’s really the only way they can go here.
No you’re not the only one. I don’t particularly like that idea. Also I thought if only one person was cursed, then the TLK or act of TL had to be focused on said person. I don’t see why Regina and Robin getting hot and heavy is in anyway an act of TL towards Marian. I don’t think they can use the TLK to break *anyone’s* curse in this instant. Perhaps if Regina somehow saves Marian’s life, or Roland maybe saves Marian’s life, or the SQ relents and stops her curse. I don’t know, it’s a mess to me. Does Marian have sister stashed in SB somewhere? What about Will? He seems to like Marian in a brotherly way, could that help her out? I really really don’t want it to be R&R’s kiss that saves her.
The other thing that lots of people seem to forget is that they had absolutely no choice–Regina would have murdered newborn Emma if she hadn’t gone through the wardrobe. To Rumple she said, “it looks like getting rid of a baby just made my to-do list.” And then she had her knights try to kill Charming and baby Emma, and nearly succeeding in Charming’s case. I DO think Snow screwed up in this last episode; I’m not denying that, but I also think people–both viewers and characters–forget that they had no choice whatsoever in sending their baby through the wardrobe since the only other option was to watch her get murdered right before their eyes.
It’s like ever since Echo Cave, Snow and Emma have had this elephant in the room between them because Snow had to admit out loud that she wanted another baby because the relationship she had with Emma wasn’t what she wanted. And then the insensitive “well, we wanted to give him everything” comment about baby Neal (oh, and naming him “Neal”–I’d be offended if my parents named my little sibling after the person who took advantage of me as a teenager and then left me pregnant in jail for his crime…). It’s really sad to see Snow and Emma not getting along very well after their relationships (as friends and then family) in seasons one and two were so good! I hope that gets remedied soon.
I think everyone believes it was just Snow that screwed up and it was unfair of her to lump her mistakes onto Charming. I also gave her the benefit of the doubt in the Echo Cave. I thought for a deep dark secret about wanting to experience motherhood b/c she missed out on the first time she phrased it pretty well. It was no worse than Emma telling Neal she wished he was dead! Poor Snow, she was damned if she didn’t give up Emma and damned if she did. Emma is sort of in a similar boat. The more time she spends with Henry the more she regrets missing out on raising him. It would be interesting to see how Henry reacts if Emma had another kidlet. Snow’s in a pretty hard place. She just had no clue how to relate to Emma as an adult (and even said so in Neverland). It must be hard for her to see Charming and Emma so close. Snow was so excited when Emma was going on a date and so emotional when she saw Emma as a teenager. This is what she missed out on and fair enough she doesn’t want to miss out on a single minute with baby Neal. So I forgive her for her foot in mouth at the class, but not when lamppost fell – that tone of voice was uncalled for.
