When did Robin get dreamed up? I know Arrow has been around since the 1940’s I think it was, so how much older is Robin – weird question I know, but google is not my friend on this ph .
About 1500s, but I thought earlier. I know there is a tree in Sherwood Forest, called the Major Oak and it supposedly was planted in Robin Hood’s time and it’s about 800 years old, but I might be wrong. Oh, I’ve just had a thought. King John was in power when RH was supposedly about, b/c Richard was off fighting in the Crusades. But whether the poems actually originated from that time, or they were just set during that time I don’t know. He’s a very old English tale/folklore/legend. 🙂
Here’s a little bit of Robin Hood history from Nottinghamshire council (who should know what they’re talking about;) ) http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/enjoying/countryside/countryparks/sherwood/sherwoodforesthistory/robinhoodhistory/

ellemo78ParticipantThat was actually very interesting, I hadnt thought about Robin’s goodness being the reason TLK would work for Regina & Regina being able to use light magic…. I think she hit the nail on the head as to what the writers where going for there.
She hits the nail on the head quite a lot. I’m not 100% with her on her Killian gaining magic theory, but most of the analysis is rather good. (Although having said that, we see two people go to take his heart, but they haven’t actually taken it out of his chest. I’ve always wondered if there was something in that, echoing Emma’s heart not being able to be removed)
I never thought of it actually being Robin’s goodness that helped her with light magic (but I think that makes a lot of sense) I assumed it was because she didn’t have her dark heart, blackened by all those horrible things she had done, weighing her down that her light magic could come to the fore. And the lightness was amplified when Robin held her heart. But I like Winger-Hawk’s theory better.
I must admit her bit here made me chuckle:
So if you’re looking for the source of that Regal Believer TLK and the white magic that defeated Zelena, look no further than the man in green with the bow and the arrow.
My mind immediately went “Who?… Arrow/Oliver Queen” LMAO
Hee I’m definitely old school, the man in green with the bow will ALWAYS be Robin Hood for me 😉

ellemo78Participant<p style=”display: inline !important;”>Crazy theory… What if she is rehabilitated and goes after people who she thinks isn’t treating animals right</p>
Very interesting 😀
They kind of did that in 102 Dalmatians. CDV after serving her time was reformed and made to work for an animal shelter, but if she reverted to her old puppy-napping ways her entire fortune went to all the animal shelters in the borough. Aaaaand you can probably guess what happened in the end 😉

ellemo78ParticipantCame across this on tumblr though it was interesting “Belle and Hook are not characters anyone would usually see as similar, but there were definite parallels to be made between them in this episode. From having their darkest points of self-loathing preyed on to feeling immense guilt for choosing a selfish option instead of saving a life (Hook followed that same guilty path in Season Three’s “The Jolly Roger”), it was interesting to see these two characters’ inner conflicts paralleled so deliberately.” Nerdy Girl Notes
Yes it was very interesting them making that connection, wasnt it …. I LOVE Nerdy girl
I thought so too. Who would ever think to parallel those two!
Oh yes I like Nerdy Girl as well! I’ve started to read all her reviews now. It’s nice to have positive spin on things for a change.
Speaking of positive, this: http://winger-hawk.tumblr.com/post/101838595748/i-love-your-theories-metas-and-i-hope-they-pan-out-i -is IMHO an awesome description of Season 3 and it also goes into Regina’s light magic (which was the headcanon I had of sorts) It’s not CS, but I thought you guys might appreciate it. (Also had no clue where else to post it!)

ellemo78ParticipantJust a thought… what if in this version of CDV she umm… Got her fur coat that’s why there’s only Pongo?
Oh I like that idea!
Or she’s been living in SB all along all quiet and happy but now there are cute little puppies about the red mist has descended on her and she goes on a puppy stealing rampage 😉

ellemo78ParticipantOh, oh, oh- what if Mal is the dark fairy Blue “banished” & CDV & whomever is part of the trio, bring her back kind of like the way Tink & the nevengers brought Blue back… then we’d have our big bad + 2 cohorts, with the big bad (Mal), tying everyones stories together through Aurora, Blue, Archie & Pongo in SB on one side & Will with WL on the other (plus Snowing, Regina, Killian or Rumple with whomever the third is).
I like the Black Fairy theory. She was a convenient mention to get them out of trouble at the end of 3A, so I hope she comes up again. And her wand is pretty formidable and full of dark magic and Emma’s light magic is getting more and more powerful. It’d be a good play off since Emma didn’t get to use her light magic against Zelena. (One thing I never got clarified, was the BFs wand the same wand Emma used to re-open the time portal?) It would be interesting to have all stories combined through the 4b evil trio. There was a mention of wanting to bring Tink back – depending on Rose McIver’s schedule. A fairy story might be the way they go. I’m really looking forward to see what they’ve done with Will and Ana. Are there any fairies involved with them? The water spirit thing maybe?

ellemo78ParticipantI’m curious to see how CDV will actually fit into the show… I mean yeah, she’s a horrible excuse for a human being, but what will her angle be, in order to make her a viable threat? The fur trade while repulsive, isnt exactly going to put the town & everyone init in danger…. unless she tried to turn everyone into dalmatian puppies or something lol o.O She’s supposed to be recurring as well…so how will fit in with Mal supposedly being the big bad for 4A, Will’s arc, operation mongoose, OQ arc, CS (Emma fighting for Killian) arc & Killian’s backstory… Oh & Rumple/Killian situation resolution (if it isnt resolved by 411)?- thats all I know of s4 spoilers at this piont in time lol. I hope we dont get flooded with villains again, like we did in S2 though- it was a little bit much having Cora, Regina, Tamara & Greg, with Hook & Rumple walking the fence between good & bad… I wonder if we’ll get Mal in flash back & CDV in present or something like that…. I wonder if CDV has Perdita locked up somewhere & she’ll be part of a mini arc over 3-4-5 eps or something like that…. so many possibilities
I have been pondering that too. I was thinking that if Mal is the big bad, then CDV might be a version of S2 Hook? A villain of sorts but not one that is out to destroy the world or everyone’s happiness, but just working with the big bad to get what she wants. It will be nice to have another all and out horrible character just to dislike/hate, as you said much like Pan. And if the 3 villainesses for 4b is to be true, I think they’ll need an overall one in charge with the other 2 working for her, otherwise they’ll have three villains probably competing against each other and ultimately destroying themselves (actually that’s not a bad idea, but it might be hard to follow) and the heroes can sit back and let it happen.

ellemo78ParticipantSo much for my spoiler black out…
But come on, she’s one of the most iconic Disney villains. Just horrible and evil for evil’s sake. It’s all there in the name. So what if her rasion d’etre is to kill puppies she has a cracking sense of fashion and would give Regina a run for her money there 😉 Why are we all of sudden worried about puppy abuse in a fairy tale? She never wins and puppies are never abused/killed unless I’ve missed something in my very limited knowledge of 101 Dalmatians. And surely surely Emma and Henry would know of her. How does someone in the real word take her seriously? She’s such a cartoon villain. Someone walking around in black and white houndstooth, banging on about a puppy fur coat, they’re gonna know exactly who she is. Hide the dogs, get them out of Storybrooke. There done, villain defeated. They’ll have to change her beyond what she’s known for.

ellemo78ParticipantOh, I LOVE your interpretation of Belle here- I may steal it for myself now
Be my guest 😉
Hehe, I dont think she’s serious about the age thing, it’s more her way of trying to stop tipping right over the edge of falling entirely head over heels in love with him- her leaning on the door like it was the only thing keeping her up, with that “Oh crap, I love him… like LOVE, love him…. oh crap” moment she had, was very close on the heels of her deciding to let love back in/ go on a date with Killy (like 2dys after wasnt it)- it’s been what 4- 5days total since she & Killian went back in time? (The time line is so condensed these days it’s hard to sort it all out in SB), that I can understand her hesitancy still, as its not really a lot of time to really get to grips with totally loving someone & allowing yourself to embrace all of them & you as a couple, when you’ve been so thoroughly closed off for so long. She has had some impressive growth & like she says, she trusts Killian- I think it’s more her she doesnt trust yet & I think thats her remaining issue there- will she be able to recover if it doesnt work out etc.
That’s a good point, I know she wasn’t being serious, but it does make sense that’s she’s still trying to keep that little bit of distance between quite liking him and truly madly deeply in love with him. And that little shaking herself out of a momentary reverie after the “we don’t make eyes” remark backs that up. She’s really enjoying just being in his company.
All those little moments are just so nice and perfect and not too over the top and I know it’s all about to become all angsty *enjoying while I can, but secretly hoping for major angst* 😀
