ParticipantThey did thank you
Might have to have a chat with RG & See whats up- might be Daniel’s still debugging or doing maintenance or something :/
So can you see the video now (I still cant) or can you see the link now? (I cant see the link atm) … its really weird!
No worries 🙂
I’ve swapped to my phone and it looks like they are kind of working. The link just turned into another embedded video. It might be different browsers. I’m using Firefox on my computer and Dolphin on phone.

ParticipantOhhhh, yes please! Thank you (worked 32hrs out of the 48, so the thought of trying to figure out what I’d written is daunting lol), either or is fine- what a nuisance though! …. anyone else noticing things are hit & miss with posts staying put atm?
I DMed your posts for you. I hope it sent okay 🙂
Yes I’m having problems with posting being a bit hit or miss. And yes the video is just a big blank space. That happened the other day for me on another thread and when i reloaded it worked, but it didn’t seem to this time.
Loved the video tho, that’s one of the better ones I’ve seen 😀If one is to engage with the primordial forces of darkness, one must expect a little social awkwardness

ParticipantUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! Everything I posted yesterday & came up as having posted is gone WTH?!?!?!?! Dang it, that sucks- I cant even remember most of what I wrote now either (it was a loooooooooong day yesterday)
ARGH! *sigh*
I didn’t think I was crazy thinking a lot of stuff had gone missing. I still have the notification emails which at least have the text, if not gifs, of what you wrote. I can forward them to you or cut and paste them for you?

ParticipantTo support the actions we saw play out i think A&E should have confirmed the hand was magicked.
I quite like the fact that it’s ambiguous. It’s given us a nice little discussion point. I’m still plumping for the double bluff theory, pretty much for all the reasons you said.
The other reason I think the hand *was* cursed, is that when they were at the Apprentice’s house, Rumple ordered Hook to rough up the old man and Hook didn’t have any hesitation, he just went all ‘grr’ and did it. The old man hadn’t done anything to Hook, so if the hand *wasn’t* curse, why would Hook be so eager to hurt him? The other instances were Hook grabbing Will b/c he spilled the drink on Emma, punching Will b/c Will shoved Hook off him and stabbing Rumple for obvious reasons. All those other times he stopped himself from being all ‘grr’ and was scared by what his hand did but against the old man it was Rumple says jump and Hook jumped. I don’t think his actions were just b/c Hook wanted to fulfil the deal.

ParticipantCongrats on the new addition, lumee! 😀
Is it true that Colin hasn’t been seen filming with Emma lately? I have been trying to avoid spoilers this time around but now I am paranoid
I’ve read a couple rumours about that too. I’m not sure to read too much into it. But it did make me think that perhaps the reason we’re getting a lot of juicy CS action so early on in the season is to set up the relationship for a fall/major obstacle.

ParticipantI was waiting all day for this thread to move so I could post the meta I wrote for last Sunday’s episode of Once.
Here’s a small teaser:
I’d like to start with Emma here. I think it’s important that she was the one to ask Hook out on a date and not the other way around.
So much of the relationship she has with Hook, even before she accepted her feelings for him in the season three finale, was about Hook giving her the ability to choose what they become. He told her in Dark Hollow that he was not going to force himself on her that, that he was going to wait for her to choose, wait for her to the make the first move.
That’s how much he loves, respects and adores Emma that and at the beginning of the episode, it was Emma who chose to walk into Granny’s with one objective in mind: to ask out her pirate on a date because she genuinely wanted to get to know him.
I liked it very much! Especially the correlation between him wanting to rid himself of the hand that he saw trying to ruin all his good progress and punching himself out. He really doesn’t like who he was. I’ve always thought that Liam would be ashamed of what he became, but Killian fell so far he couldn’t stop himself.

ParticipantI guess I dont mind the Blackmailing… Rumple CUT OFF Killian’s hand for taking up with Milah – who LEFT Rumple. Killian didnt steal her. She was just counting her lucky stars that she found a hot pirate to leave with… but she was leaving by any means or man necessary make no mistake about it. Whether she was right or wrong, that was on her. The looks on poor Killian’s face through the whole episode was so sad.
I admit, I’m totally with you on here- do I like the fact Killian pushed his advantage a little to hard & gave the DO a prime oppatunity to get inside his head- Nope- but I cant blame Killian for pushing Rumple like he did- Rumple was in the wrong for maiming Killian in the 1st place- he broke his deal with Milah by murdering her, maiming & tormenting Killian- that wasnt leaving them in peace & it also means he has broken more than one deal :/
I’m not convinced Rumple broke more than one deal. The deal for the bean was to let Milah and Killian go – actually thinking about it, did Rumple agree to those terms? I have a sneaky suspicion he didn’t. He said he wanted to see the bean first, they showed him, Milah asked if they had a deal and Rumple went on a tangent about Milah leaving Bae. So I guess in Rumple’s mind there probably wasn’t technically a deal to break. It’s all a bit eye-for-eye with Rumple and Hook, trying to one-up each other. Hook went too far with using his knowledge of the dagger to his advantage. Yes it worked the first time in regards to the finding who the magic belonged too. That is one deal, Hook’s silence for Rumple’s help. Using the threat of calling out Rumple to Belle wasn’t going to work again, and Hook should have known that. When he asked for his hand I thought he had something different to offer, but no he was silly enough to use the same information. I love Hook but he wasn’t very bright, but in words of Buffy ‘Love makes you do the wacky.’ However he didn’t have anything else to bargain with and I would guess in Hook’s mind Rumple was never going to hand over the hand if he just asked for it.
I think Rumple double bluffed Killian, he told him the hand was cursed, as he knew Killian wouldnt believe him, rightly thinking he was just trying to mess with his head, then when Killian started doing OOC things with it, it sowed the seeds of doubt- was it the hand or was it him, after punching Will, he decided ‘crud it is cursed’ & went back to Rumple to backed him into a corner with the next part of the bluff- telling him the hand really isnt cursed- it’s just who he really is at heart, to make an already worried & vulnerable Killian wracked with self doubt & therefore easy pickings to back into a corner- because once you no longer believe in yourself & who you are, it isnt hard for others to take advantage of you (cue Anna Parallel).
This is my thought as well. I am starting to feel sorry for Belle (which is a miracle for me). She’s still continuing to see the good in him, but that deception is just so evil. Regardless of the fact that Hook ‘blackmailed’ Rumple first. All Hook was going to do was tell Belle about the dagger. That’s it. It was Rumple’s own doing that gave Hook that ammunition. By contrast Rumple has made a man trying to better himself fall back onto doubts and self-loathing; made him into his lackey; framed him with the video tape, all because Hook wanted two hands so he could hold Emma. That is truly evil (and I love Rumple for it!), but of course all I see is ‘but Hook was blackmailing Rumple, Hook deserved what he got’. I’m not sure he deserved that. His little sad face at the end was just heartbreaking. On top of that not only does Hook ‘owe’ Rumple, he also owes Will for not dobbing him into Emma. I was hoping that Will and Hook could have a bro-ship, I think they’d work well together. They even have the same catchphrase 😉

ParticipantI love OUAT because of Robert Carlyle. He was the reason I started watching and he didn’t disappoint (not that I expected him to). But whether he’s in full on gold-skin pantomime imp or dark menacing Mr Gold he’s is just so fantastic.
I’d like to also add my love for Mark’s scoring and Eduardo’s costuming. The show is so lucky to have such talented people behind the scenes. In particular I loved the music used behind Rumple and Belle’s wedding. So haunting and beautiful. *hopes for a season three soundtrack*
I love how ridiculous OUAT can be. Walking broomsticks! Warlording Bo-Peep! Magic portal beans! It’s all silly fun 😀 And what makes it even better is that the cast is so good they can make the ridiculousness seem plausible. What other shows can have The Evil Queen introducing Robin Hood to Tinkerbell like it’s normal natural thing that happens every day? Brilliant!

ParticipantIs anyone else as confused as I am to whether Rumple actually *did* curse the hand or not? Before the episode I was happy for it to be a mind game, but seeing what Killian did and how upset he was with what he did and just how deep in dept he’s got himself in with Rumple now I want the hand to have been cursed. I bow to you, master manipulator Mr Stiltskin. I think he was at his Machiavellian best in this ep. Although Anna was exceptionally lucky to get the better of him. Wouldn’t be interesting if Hook got his hands on the dagger? 😀
I have had a passing thought, that if Hook tells Emma about his dealings with Rumple, could Hook sort of act as spy? Not that the Charmings need to spy on Rumple, but it would be handy to know what he’s up to esp in regard to the Snow Queen, and with Hook in ‘business’ with Rumple there’s a ready made mole.

October 22, 2014 at 9:59 am in reply to: Why is Hook such a divisive character within the fandom? #286851ellemo78
ParticipantFirst my answer actually speaks to every single villain on the show but since we’re talking about Hook…I need an acknowledgement that he did do bad things. Even if pro-Hook fans can rationalize them, it doesn’t change the fact that he did do them. So, it would be nice for him to say sorry for leaving Team Princess! in jail. And yes actions speak louder than words and he cam back for them in 222, but I can’t criticize Regina for not apologizing and not expect the same from Hook even if their deeds might be of a smaller/larger degree.
The question in and of itself is also divisive because people on #TeamHook (can I call them that…I hate the idea of “stans” mostly because I have no idea where it came from. What is a Stan? Why Stan? Why not Martha? Or Jim….where was I…) can easily explain the actions that others find as hindrance, just like I can explain away Rumple’s deeds. So for me one of the big things is that I’d like Emma to learn about Hook’s relationship with Bae in its full capacity. And a someone on #TeamHook is going to say that Emma knows and is fine with it. But there’s nothing in universe to suggest FOR SURE either way. And I think that’s a big problem for the fandom. We each accept our headcanons when the show leaves it up in the air.
@RG you’re right, I’m quite happy to rationlise Hook’s actions, just as you said you are happy to defend Rumple. And Regina fans will defend Regina to the death. We see the best in our favourites, just as Robin sees the best in Regina and Belle sees the best in Rumple and perhaps we can have tunnel vision. But I get the feeling that fans/haters aren’t allowing Emma to see the best in Hook. I get sick of the hypocrisy. What I see from fans is that Regina and Rumple are more easily forgiven for their misdeeds and Hook isn’t. But it’s the why I don’t understand. It seems that no matter how hard he tries there is nothing Hook can do that will make up for his past. Any good deed/action he does will always get construed into something bad. Is it because the writers are angling Hook to be a hero when he clearly started out as a bad guy (I’m not using the term villian, b/c he was a rubbish villian), that he has to do *everything* right to be labeled as such? He swapped from side to side, so was Hook harder to place into the black and white world of Hero and Villian? Regina and Rumple still have their darkness and are still classified as villians, Rumple especially so, and Rumple doesn’t want to be a ‘hero’ so is that why he’s more easily forgiven for all the horrible things he’s done in his past, beacuse he’s still in the villian box?
In general, if you don’t like a character, you don’t like a character, that’s fine. No-one’s expecting all characters to be everything to everyone, that’s just not how the world works. What bugs me is the fans that twist and maniupate the character’s actions to get their hate across, to posion them for others’ enjoyment. And this works both ways too. I’ve read some pro-Hook blogs that are just blatantly stretching the truth to get their point across I roll my eyes and laugh.
Re the Stan thing, I’m old so I had to look it up. The definition I found was that it was from Eminem’s ‘Stan’ or the contraction of stalker + fan. In either case if that’s where it came from I don’t want to be called a Stan. And terms like TeamHook or TeamNeal are just devisive anyway. I blame Twilight for all that rubbish (but then I blame Twilight for a lot of things 😉 )
