Well…we don’t know if Rumple did anything illegally? That’s an assumption many Oncers have made….but Rumple was in fact a lawyer. So I’m sure he knew all the lawyer things to know, and probably knew how to sweet talk the system into finding him a baby for adoption.
But this scene….was clear proof that Regina did go by regular route in adopting Henry. She legally adopted Henry, and by law, she is Henry’s mother. And by closed adoption, Emma signed over all parental rights….so in the eyes of the law, she is no longer Henry’s mother…Regina is. But now Regina is willingly sharing Henry with Emma, so they now share him.

Most (if not all) people on the waiting lists would have had lawyers too, and there’s really no way to “get around” the wait and home studies and things without going through questionable channels. And the waiting lists for a healthy white newborn are the longest of all; there are plenty of cases of people basically buying babies illegally.

But my point still stands–why do you think our world’s laws should apply in child custody cases but not in the case of Regina’s murders and other felonies? Regina would be in jail for several life sentences if our laws meant much of anything in Storybrooke. That part still doesn’t make sense to me.

Hehe Epona, it means ‘Titanic’ in proportions ;)

Well yeah, but with a capital “T” and in reference to ships…just saying! Lol!

OMG, you all need to read this meta by NerdyGirlNotes about Captain Swan and Finding Love Again and the important of First Love. It’s so beautiful.

Aww, that was really nice; thanks so much for recommending it!

And yes, I agree with the above thoughts on Tamara too. And while I don’t think we know for sure how much time passed between Neal’s receiving August’s postcard and Emma’s arrival at his apartment, he would have had at least some time to let Tamara down gently if he really had still loved Emma, but clearly he really had moved on. And since they weren’t living together and it didn’t seem like they’d gotten too far into the wedding planning (correct me if I’m wrong!), it’s not like the logistics of breaking off their engagement would have been a huge problem either. Neal was perfectly fine being with his new fiancee and didn’t appear to have been thinking of Emma at all, even when he knew she’d broken the curse.

And ugh, it especially still rankles me to think of Neal’s laughing at Emma’s suspicions (and mocking her–in front of Henry–in the process) and seemingly enjoying what he assumed was her jealousy (I’m not the only one who got that vibe, right?). And then he just turns right around and is kinda over her right away. It didn’t seem to affect him at all, which is an especially stark contrast to how his own betrayal affected Emma. I’m not sure what the point of that observation was exactly, but that just occurred to me, haha.

But why….I mean….how come Emma gets Henry on Weekdays? In the eyes of the law, Emma is not his mother because she signed over all parental rights when she gave him up for adoption. Regina has legal, full custody of Henry, and raised him from three weeks to ten years. Now…sure this is Once, so Henry would have to spend time with Emma, but that time could really go back to how it used to be in Season 1, only this time….instead of Henry and Emma sneaking around Regina, Regina willingly allows Henry to go see Emma whenever he wants.

Well, there’s the issue of Regina gaslighting Henry throughout the whole first season and trying to kill his biological mother, which culminated in his getting caught in the crossfire and nearly dying. And then plotting with her mother to kill his entire biological family shortly thereafter, among other things. And if we’re going by our world’s legal system, then Regina wouldn’t have custody of Henry at all because she’d be in jail for murder, attempted murder, and wrongful imprisonment (and that’s only what she’s done in Storybrooke).

Don’t get me wrong; I do like Regina as a character (and she definitely has some of the best lines!) and in the context of a fantasy TV show, sure Henry should spend as much time with her as he wants since apparently he’s forgiven her and still loves her. 🙂 I’m just saying that it doesn’t make much sense to try to go by our laws for the custody arrangements but not for all of Regina’s very serious crimes.

I saw this phrase earlier to day & thought yes, yes that is correct when you apply it to CS lol
“I dont ship CS, I Titanic CS” lol

Hmmm. That doesn’t necessarily sound like a good thing, considering what happened to that particular ship! Haha.

I mean I knew Neal had moved on & that Killy hadnt- but I hadnt connected them in this way before! I feel a fool for totally missing it on my radar lol. Well caught!

And remember True Loves can’t move on from each other. Neal moved on and Emma realized in Neverland that she wanted to move on from Neal, so to me, that says that they weren’t true loves. And yeah, Hook was not able to move on from Emma after parting ways with her in Going Home; even though he didn’t think there was a likelihood that he would be able to see her again. He still remained loyal to her memory.

I’m a little confused about that…in what context did we find that out? And does that still apply if one half of a TL couple is dead? It would be so much easier to figure this stuff out if there were more curses to be broken! 😉

I do agree that it would be nice to see the various ships and factions of the fandom spew less hate. I think we’re fairly moderate here – even with our recent griping. Tumblr and other sites can be downright vicious. Seriously, if I see one more thing about ‘rape culture’ or ‘abuse’ I might lose it – those are some extremely serious topics and I personally don’t feel they can or should be applied to a show like OUAT. But unfortunately, I also don’t know that there is a way to change it. The fandom is enormous and like any huge group, you’re going to have people that are septic and should really consider pulling up a seat in the shrink’s office. But when you focus on the good, embracing the fandom can be a lot of fun. So I think it has to be each person’s choice – engage in the negativity or attempt to shield yourself from it as much as possible.

Agreed. ^^ I’m not entirely sure why this show in particular has inspired such bitterness in a small but vocal section of the fandom. I’ve kinda been trying to figure that out, and I’m not coming up with an answer. *shrug* I definitely also agree though that the continued ridiculous assertions about rape culture regarding CS and/or Hook himself are only making light of an actual, real-world problem. Now there is the problematic element of certain characters acting like they “own” their wives or girlfriends, but Hook is definitely not one of those characters.

I also agree though that we’ve gotten plenty of spoilers so far–there seems to be something new about the show nearly every day, and while of course not everything is CS-related, we want a few surprises saved for the actual show, right? 😉

Wow…I definitely thought that pretty much all of the Neverland stuff was done, and I definitely didn’t think that Felix would come up again at all since he’s dead. Unless they really are thinking of doing a Neverland spin-off or something; I assumed that was just random speculation or wishful thinking from some fans. Or maybe he has some random connection with Arendelle (Anna and Elsa’s cousin? One of Hans’s brothers? Lol) or Maleficent.

@surayya–I got my S3 Blu-Ray recently and I think I watched all of the special features, and I didn’t see that anywhere. I saw it earlier today though and it was pretty cute, although I couldn’t quite understand what they were saying.

Okay, I don’t know whether that’s more funny or sad! No, actually I’m going with funny, but it IS a little sad how much they’re grasping at straws in an effort to denigrate Hook. And even if they wanted to show a strip club (which they don’t), I don’t think they could if they want to keep the PG rating.

On the Jell-o thing: I used to like it when I was little, but now I find it rather gross now for multiple reasons, but I can’t eat it anyway because I’m a vegetarian and gelatin comes from the skin, bones, and connective tissues of meat animals. And the texture creeps me out. Back to OUAT though, I got the impression that Hook giving Neal jello was mostly kind of a funny shout-out to those of us who love (are obsessed with?) the show enough to have watched the deleted scenes.

And yeah, I’ve said something like this before, but it just doesn’t seem like Neal was ever set up to be particularly sympathetic (or a good love interest for Emma). It seems that way in “Tallahassee” and then it’s even more obvious when we meet him in the present for the first time in “Manhattan” and he acts like a hypocrite and a colossal jerk to Emma (“Dad, I never want to see you again because you abandoned me even though you instantly regretted it and spent hundreds of years trying to get to me. Oh, and Emma, I know I abandoned you and never looked for you even when I knew exactly where you were and that you’d broken the curse, but you should totally forgive me! After I laugh in your face about it, of course.”)

One deleted scene I wish hadnt been cut :) Interesting thoughts on it though ….

    “Pirate”

Man could have run off and tried to get his revenge. Could have done anything he liked, high on pain medication as he clearly is. And what does he do? Go chasing down Emma Swan to show her the weird thing he found. “SWAN! SWAN! SWAN! I BROUGHT YOU A THING! LOOK! IT JIGGLES!!!!!”

…. Will never not amuse me. You literally did some sort of voodoo on the cuffs to get free, and instead of making a break for it, you go SEEKING OUT the woman who cuffed you in the first place. Boyfriend, your feels are showing and you aren’t even TRYING to hide them.

…. I think he has a thing for getting Emma to handcuff him to things…

…. S4…bring back the freakin handcuffs!!!

Hahaha, I love that scene too. I remember during “Quiet Minds” trying to explain to the people I was watching with why it was really funny that Hook brought jello to Neal while he was in the hospital.

I have to say though, that does seem like a reasonable reaction to seeing jello for the first time. It’s freaky-looking stuff, especially when it’s that unnatural blue color…
