According to Kelvin, using the failsafe key would ‘make it all go away’ and destroy the island.
It didn’t. All it did was realease the electromagnetic build up, making the need to enter the #’s and push the button, unnecessary.
What actually happened when Des turned the key was – he activated his own ability to shift his conscientiousness and he became “unstuck” in time.
This enabled him to fulfill his destiny, making Des the actual failsafe, not the key.
So, if Regina’s failsafe is anything along those lines, the black diamond won’t really do any harm if the person (Emma?Henry?) who is the actual failsafe does what they need to do to fulfill their destiny and prevent Storybrooke from being destroyed. If the electromagnetic buildup wasn’t released the island would have been destroyed…thus the release of it is considered a fail safe. Desmond’s ability to shift in time and fulfill his destiny was a more perfect fail safe. But, I’m not here to debate LOST, (even though I am a LOSTIE to the CORE)…and it will be interesting to see if there is a human fail safe. I’ve also wondered if Emma will join with Regina and they will use their magic together to save the town. That is probably a stretch but would be interesting.

fairy dustParticipantI listened to the writers podcast this week and they did confirm that they wanted an Oliver Twist type of feel to Baelfire landing in London. I love how they pull so many different dimensions into one story….and within the different dimensions are diverse nuggets like little chunks of fun from so many stories.
(I’ve been off this site for months but just had to return to see what was being discussed for the season finale.)fairy dustParticipantWhether or not Baelfire is going to become a full fledged pirate is yet to be seen…but it does look like he is going to be having pirate adventures aboard the Jolly Roger. I still think Baelfire will ultimately be Peter Pan. In the Peter Pan story, Peter comes to the nursery looking for his shadow…it is a nice twist on the story if in OUAT they have the shadow come looking for the boy. It will be interesting to see how they play this story out…but I’m still holding onto Bae ultimately becoming Peter Pan.

In the second poster Dylan has guyliner eyes. The first portion of Baelfire’s story involves his desire to change his dad with a plan to use magic to take him to a place that does not have magic (in the show we see magic coming to Storybrooke as purple smoke). It looks like the next phase of Baelfire’s life is going to be aboard Hook’s pirate ship…thus the guyliner eyes in the second poster. Could be a coincidence…but it fits. Time will tell. (I’ve been off this site for months but just had to return to see what was being discussed for the season finale.)
fairy dustParticipantIf someone used magic to create the book then they would not need first-hand knowledge of all the stories. We see an example of what magic can do when Rumple gave David the magic potion that David placed on Jefferson’s hat. No one knew where Jefferson was…but, the “magic” led David to Jefferson. The same thing could be true with the book. All someone would need to do is to use magic to create a book with everything in it to break the curse. If magic was involved in the creation of the book then the magic itself would be the thing that created the stories. If that were to be true then a person would use the magic to create the book but they would not have to have firsthand knowledge of all the stories.
Just like the curse had a “fail safe”….the book then becomes a type of “fail safe” although I think it is possible that there could be an additional fail safe that will prevent the total destruction of Storybrooke…kind of like Desmond’s key on LOST. (I’ve been off this site for months but just had to return to see what was being discussed for the season finale.)

H&K have stated that PETER PAN will NOT be seen this season…. Are they telling the truth or are they fibbing?

Hi Nonnie,
I think we have to parse their words very carefully cuz these guys are so tricky. 😀 They said that “Peter Pan” will not be seen this season. They did not say that the real world person, who also is/or was Peter Pan in Neverland will not be seen this season…they only said that “Peter Pan” will not be seen. We saw something like this when everyone was trying to figure out who Dr. Whale was. He said that “no one” would be able to figure out who his fairytale character was. He was right…because his character was not a “fairytale” character but rather a science fiction character from the land of black and white. So, technically, even though people figured out his character was Dr. Frankenstein, he was correct, because Dr. Frankenstein is not a fairytale character. He actually came out with that statement after lots of “Dr. Whale is Dr. Frankenstein” posts starting hitting the blogs. It was designed to cause people to second guess themselves. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if that is not what the, “we will not see Peter Pan this season” comment is all about…cuz LOTS of people, including myself, think or want Bae to be Peter Pan. I think they are trying to get us to second guess ourselves.
I think the door is still wide open for Baelfire to be Peter Pan.

I’m not sold on it being a pic of Dylan. There are no doubt similarities, but they still look like different people to me. The shadows on the face, for one, don’t match up with the shots we have of Dylan. And the nose doesn’t look like an exact match to me either. And the kid in the poster has a much more defined and dark eyebrow to what we see in those shots of Dylan.
I put the picture of Dylan up for comparison, but as I said in my post…it is not the same picture, however I do believe that the picture on the poster was taken at the same photo shoot.
Both posters are the same…the one with the purple tint and the one with the dark eyes. Both have been photoshopped…one given a purple tint…the other given darkened highlights…but they are both the same. One poster is in the “real” outside world…the other poster is in Storybrooke. I do believe that it is Dylan, and as, with all theories… time will tell.

I believe the picture of Dylan used in the poster/ad that we see in Tallahassee and Skin Deep was taken at the same photo shoot. Because the camera angle is just a little bit different than the poster, I don’t think the picture used in the poster/ad is one these three poses…but I do think the picture used on the poster was taken at the same time and during the same session.

Huge clue to Neal’s identity on the wall in store??? #166395fairy dustParticipantThe same Dylan Schmid (Baelfire) poster that was on the wall in Tallahassee is also on the wall of Mr. Clark’s pharmacy in Storybrooke (ep.Skin Deep). In the Tallahassee episode the picture has a magenta fade added to it…in the poster in Mr. Clark’s store there is not a fade but rather the darkness of the eyebrow and eyes has been heightened…almost giving Dylan a guyliner look. Also, the same brown leather key chains (with the names) that was next to the cash register in the Tallahassee episode are in Mr. Clark’s store in Storybrooke.

Maybe the “key” to the real identity of Neal Cassidy is right before our eyes, literally. Dylan Schmid, the actor who plays Baelfire, did a photo shoot quite a while back. It sure looks like the picture above the key chains, which is an advertisement for cell phone service to Mexico, is a photo taken at that photo shoot. So we have Baelfire with a cell phone!!! It looks like we are getting some pretty good confirmation that the Mystery Man aka Neal Cassidy is Baelfire. 😀
