What a lot of people don’t realize about August is that in Tallahassee, he hadn’t yet met Emma face to face since she was a baby. All he had heard as a kid was that he had to protect the savior. No one mentioned anything about Emma as a person, so it was probably easy for him to see her only as the role she was destined to play. After he met her as a person when he came to storybrooke, that view became a bit more muddled.

Least favorite: Don’t really have one, but if i had to say, it would have to be another round of the blame game (isn’t that horse a bit dead yet) and how freaking long it took them to realize that the ink was on the paper. Emma especially doesn’t have an excuse, she’s of the Scooby Doo generation.
faux paxParticipantI was thinking that too… I’m kind of worried though. The one argument I have found AGAINST the SwanFire idea that I agree with, looks like it’s about to happen. If they try to do both at the same time (Neal is Bae and Neal as Henry’s father) one story is almost inevitably going to be burred by the other. That’s kind of why I wanted Neal to show up before Emma goes looking for Bae.
But I do have complete faith in the writers and am reserving any true hissy fits until AFTER I have seen how it all plays out.
My theory about the part Gold had in their meeting is this:
I think he used a bit of Bae’s DNA (a hair left on a cloak, perhaps) to ‘anchor’ the curse to when Bae would be alive. With both of their essences used in the curse–that’s what drew them together. What made Emma chose that bug out of any other car. What happened afterword couldn’t have been planed.
@lil’red
As deliciously angsty as that would be, in the end i want it to be real. It’s fine if they doubt it, but it has to be the truth. So much of Emma’s life has been dominated by the curse she deserved one thing that was truly and genuinely hers.
Honestly, I would like to see Gold be completely oblivious to all this. He’s played the board so well up until now, I really want to see one big thing escape his foresight entirely because I don’t think he would mess with Bae’s life this way…not on purpose anyways.
And if Neal is Bae and he’s Emma’s true love (which he is), then I think it will be up to Henry to restore FTL. He’s already shown an interest in magic and since the show has hinted at OZ we can assume it’s possible to have a good witch (Glinda). “Queen of Hearts” again reiterated the power of a product of true love. If Henry learns magic and is the product of the true love between the beginning of the curse and the end…well, let’s just say he’s bound to be powerful in his own right.
The Curse is a powerful and complicated bit of magic, and as we’ve seen in Harry Potter, the more complicated and powerful a bit of magic is, the harder it is for the caster to see and understand the importance of the little things (Tom couldn’t have guessed just how much he screwed up by underestimating the power of love, right?)

faux paxParticipantNow I also wonder if Barrett is connected into the unconscious realm in some way because it makes sense for an important character, like it seems he will be, to be connected to that realm. Maybe someone does something that they’re not suppose to like maybe Cora or maybe even a good character, and he comes to Storybrooke to “fix” it. Or maybe he has some other purpose in mind. It makes sense, imo, because he wouldn’t necessarily be an “evil” character like Cora is, but he would definitely could be very gray. If he thought that whatever a Storybrooke resident or residents were doing was hurting his realm, I could see him justifying his dark actions in that protecting his realm was the greater good. In that way, he could parallel the Blue Fairy.
OUAT is known for taking things from all kinds of things, I mean they even have a sprinkle of Greek mythology. If your theory about Barrett is correct, do you think he could be the sandman and that the netherworld is his home, or perhaps he rules it?
faux paxParticipantGuys, I think the death is going to be August. Hasn’t Eion signed up for another show or something?
faux paxParticipantI just have a feeling that if it was supposed to be part of our Snow, then they would have included more detail of it in some back story or something. Right now it just seems like something they stuck in the middle of it all.
faux paxParticipantSo if by some odd chance, Neal IS NOT Bae, am I the only one who would kind of like to see him with Regina…you know, just as a kind of slap in the face to Rumple?
faux paxParticipantWhether or not he is Baelfire, I want him and Emma to be together. I am a bit more supportive of the idea simply from some of the clues in this episode, and how similar he does seem a bit to Rumpelstiltskin in the way how he and Emma met–his little comment to the name and how much he looks like Rumpelstiltskin.
I really do love Belle and Rumpelstiltskin together, I just think they are a bit overated. I know this is an unpopular opinion considering how popular they are and all. I mostly go after Rumpelstiltskin because he keeps using the same excues–I am a coward. Yet he makes no attempt to change.
You said it in one, dearie… 😆 .
I haven’t seen True Blood, but I did watch Terriers to get a feel for how he was as an actoer. Must say great show.
And yes, the show was loaded with hints. Have you seen this thread: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=2004
@ lil’red, yes, cinnamonhummingbird is awesome. Have you seen her collection of SwanThief fanvids on Tumblar. My feels can’t take it!!
faux paxParticipant/ I told myself that even if Henry’s father wasn’t Bae, I still wanted Emma to get back together with him, mainly because I was attracted to the idea of Henry benign the product of true live and what that could mean for the show.
It’s nice to see that i’m not the only one who thinks they out did Rumbelle. I just think there is something more innocent in SwanThief. Neal and Emma’s relationship was about them loving someone completely for pretty much the first time and they loved each other for who they were. Emma’s reaction to the watches was more about the trouble it would cause, rather then the fact that he did the ‘wrong’ thing.
Rumbelle, on the other hand, was about loving the person burred deep–the person Rumple could be if he let himself. And that’s the thing, he wouldn’t let himself. He had too much to lose by doing so. It’s a lot more layered and a lot less innocent. I’m not saying that Belle shouldn’t try and change him (that man doesn’t just have issues or subscriptions, he’s got the whole publishing house) but she shouldn’t have to.
@Elle, I’m glad you wouldn’t mind. I mean really, can you image Robert and MRJ in a scene together?…Especially if it was the big reunion/confrontation? 😮EPIC.
