Epic catch. I always thought it would be kind of funny if Neal had a picture of a younger him and we saw it, but no one else recognized the connection. This is going to be so much fun to see Rumple’s reaction to the news…
[adrotate group="5"]faux paxParticipant/ and she comes up with a half way decent one we haven’t thought of before!!!! Just think of how much fun she’ll be on the Forums in a few years. ๐ ๐
faux paxParticipantAnother thing that may point to Neal being Bae is the in the Offical podcast they were asked about what was in the box and (i really wish i had time to go look for an exact quote) they said:
“What you should be asking is what could August know that would make Neal give up on the girl he loves?” Or something like that.
What really struck me about that was that they used the word “Know” not “have” which means that the object itself was probably a lot less significant then what it meant. Another hint that it might be the picture of the dagger?
faux paxParticipantWas shocked at first that Neal hasn’t popped up in Storybrooke after we learned what the postcard meant
I think this was mentioned in one of the podcast, but maybe he hasn’t actually gotten the postcard yet. I mean it’s possible that they just showed us a little ‘flash forward’ in the beginning just so Neal’s introduction would parallel Emma’s. What I want to know is, in show time, how long has it been since the curse broke. It only seems like a few days to me..not more than a month, at least. If it was more, then wouldn't we already have the answer to Red and the Wolf problem?

I posted it this in another thread but here it is again.
I just read on line that Jennifer Morrison was quoted as saying about Neal
“He obviously is posed with the possibility of coming back to Storybrooke because of the pigeon who brought him the little note. So I think definitely there's going to have to be a decision made on his part as to whether or not he decides to follow up on what he started 10 years ago.”
Hmmm… Why did she use the words COMING BACK TO instead of COMING TO? Did she let it slip that he already had traveled there?
That’s really something to think about Kallio ๐ฎ “coming back” vs “coming to”. Slip up or intentional. Oh, how I love/hate this series! ๐ ๐ฟ
I just remembered something. Remember how there was a deleted scene from I think it was either Hat Trick or The stranger with August and Jefferson and they never released it, even on the DVD. Put that together with the Cleaners & Hatters sign in Neal’s room and maybe you have some sort of information network? I’m just saying. I mean we are going on and on about how it might be the BF pulling the strings, but we keep frogetting that Jefferson remembered everything. Maybe he always knew more then it was letting on; i mean he did work closely with both Rumple and Regina.
I always found it odd that Smee knew the rumors about Rumple but that by the time of the curse no one knew anything. I think it’s impossible for them to have COMPLETELY died down and if Jefferson heard something about it, i think he would be smart enough to keep his trap shut.
Maybe he knew about Bae and then when He and August found Neal he knew enough to get him to listen and Neal/Bae filled in the rest (the info August would later use for his little trick). The only thing i can’t figure out would be how they knew Neal was Bae (if in fact he is). But it’s just a theory.
faux paxParticipantAnother thing to consider in the epic debate of Neal=Bae yes/no, is that Neal has a bad case of sticky fingers, something that didn’t seem a problume for Bae.
But think about this for a moment.
I only have a couple semesters of Psychology under my belt so correct me if i’m wrong, but isn’t it possible that Bae could have developed that as a way to feel closer to his dad? I mean the last night Rumple was really Rumple was the night he did the only non-cowardly thing in his life. He and Bae broke into the Duke’s castle. So maybe it’s like he’s trying (even if it’s just subconsciously) to remember the last moment he really had his papa.
What do you guys think?
faux paxParticipantI really think that the show is setting Neal and Emma up to be OTL’s (god, i hope so). Ignore the keepsakes they both have kept, Neal waited for TEN YEARS for that postcard and even after getting sent to prison and believing Neal took off with the money, Emma still spent two years in Tallahassee looking for him.
faux paxParticipantNealโs current personality makes total sense to me.
If Neal is Bea, i’m really glad with the way they went. I mean he’s damaged, but I don’t think i could have handled it if they turned him into an overgrown angsty teen. For all Neal’s broken places, he has TRIED to move on and not let all that fear, pain, anger and so on ruin his life.

If most people think Neal is Baelfire, then he’s probably Baelfire. Most of the mysteries on this show have been pretty to easy solve. August being Pinocchio, Cora being the miller’s daughter, Cora being the Queen of Hearts (even though that hasn’t been confirmed, it’s pretty much implied). So, the mysteries on this show aren’t that hard to figure out. The only twist that took the fandom by surprise was Red being the Big Bad Wolf. But other than that, we’ve been able to correctly predict the identities of the charactersThey had to leave clues. This show is so layered that, if they didn’t people would think every little twist was just pulled out of the writers behinds. That’s what i like about the show so much.
The flip side to this is that, for those freaks like us who spend a lot of time talking about it, we can often figure it out before the big reveal. Even if it is the kind of thing the casual viewer would be blown away from.
For those of you whose main reason for not wanting Neal to be Bae (and you are perfectly entitled to your opinion) just because it would be “too predictable,” what would be worse; a show that is predictable or a show that isn’t as tied together?
faux paxParticipantIf August gave her the money then she would know that Neal still cared for her and she would want to find him.
As true as that may be, that’s not why he kept it. If you pay attention to the way Eion played it, you know he was just trying to justify it to himself. And besides if Emma knew that Neal still cared for her, it would make their reunion too easy… ๐
