"there’s lesbians in it"FelieParticipantPlus I find it really weird that they glossed over the whole ‘Elsa can create freekin’ LIFE(!)’ thing. I don’t want to see the ouat writers try to tackle it, nor would I imagine them wanting to tackle it.

"there’s lesbians in it"FelieParticipantOLAF OR BUST
Olaf’s primary role was to act as a medium for comic relief. Because of this I’m afraid that he would have zero purpose in ouat and that he’d just be a weird and deleterious addition to the show. Here’s why;
Although Zelena had cgi flying monkeys, they had a purpose in that they were used to do her bidding, and the fact that they never talked meant that the low-level cgi worked adequately well. The cgi wouldn’t be good enough to allow for good facial expressions for Olaf, or to capture his character/mannerisms. Also, since Olaf is predominantly a comedic character that would mean that the existing writers would have to adapt to do comedy (I’ll admit that I have no idea if they’ve done comedy in other projects), or they would have to hire new writers to do the comedy elements (I think we can all agree that although there have been some funny lines in the show, there has never been an attempt to do an Olaf-type character before), which wouldn’t be very economical.
You’re right when you say that it’s either ‘Olaf or bust’, but not in the way I think you meant it; if they do Olaf then they really are going to have to DO OLAF. Otherwise they’ll be ruining the character we’ve come to know and love, whilst possibly ruining the entire show itself.
I vote no Olaf. Instead I suggest having an honourable mention in the form of a pet named Olaf.
How about a bichon frise? ;P

"there’s lesbians in it"FelieParticipantI wouldn’t like them to include Olaf. Can’t they just make a reference to him by giving Anna a husky named Olaf? Please?
no
A talking snowman works well in a children’s animated film, not so much in a live-action, low budget tv show. Think back to how bad Medusa looked, now picture a talking snowman… not a pretty picture. Plus he’d be very annoying in an adult oriented production XD I vote for a white husky or a samoyed as a way to give the little guy an honourable mention-

How about a Japanese dwarf flying squirrel?

If they don’t give me Olaf, I will hunt them down and make them pay.

"there’s lesbians in it"June 7, 2014 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Out in Storybrooke: Who should have a Queery Tale romance? #272738FelieParticipantOkay, now that I’ve seen Frozen finally – I feel like I can now really contribute to the discussion here. I understand how the LGBT theme is interpreted here but at the heart of the story it’s about sisters and their unconditional love for each other.
So I can see where Adam and Eddie can go with introducing Elsa to the Once universe. I think the heart of her story will still be her relationship with her sister and like the movie, she may not have a love interest on the show.
But I don’t think that’s an “open door” to make the character of Elsa a lesbian. She didn’t have a love interest in the movie but also remember how her parents locked her away so she never really had a chance for any kind of romantic relationship with either sex.
She grew up in fear of hurting people around her because of her parents decision to lock her away.
I am however very interested to see how Elsa got her ice powers and how Adam and Eddie will deal with that. Frozen I feel didn’t really deal with aspect of her character too much.
I said this in another thread but thought it might be relevant here too;
I hope Anna is ok though. I really like her character as to me she symbolises the unconditional love that people should show their lgbtq family members after they come out (Anna never once – ever – questioned or judged Elsa after finding out about her powers. Something most lgbtq people can only dream of).
Showing that Anna hasn’t got a judgemental bone in her body when it comes to Elsa being a lesbian would work way better than showing she accepts her sister’s powers without hesitation, as powers have already been dealt with in ouat, and they’re not considered to be the makings of a ‘bad guy’ any more, since Emma (the saviour) has them.
However, homosexuality has not seriously been covered in ouat yet, giving the writers the perfect platform to show the audience just how unconditionally Anna loves Elsa. Though admittedly the downside of this would be that the EF would have to hold homophobic views/traditions in order to provide a contrast between Anna’s acceptance and everybody else’s disapproval.
In other words; because the possession of magical powers (in humans) has been shifted from ‘sign of the bad-guy’ to the ‘no big deal’ side Elsa’s struggle for acceptance as a magic-wielding royal will be too old-hat to be an interesting or engaging storyline for the new big-bad in season 4, because everyone already accepts that good guys can have magic too. On the other hand, Elsa can still have an acceptance storyline with her sexuality as the focus. This, as I’ve said above, would be the perfect way to showcase just how loving and accepting Anna is.

"there’s lesbians in it"FelieParticipantThis is how I see it playing out.
–Frozen has already happened. Anna and Kristoph get married and want to start a family
–Anna dies giving birth. Kristoph, heart broken, goes to live on his own. Elsa realizes she has lost her famly
–Her powers become uncontrollable again and she begins turning the EF (where Arendelle is) into winter. Rumple, worried that this will upset his plans with the curse, traps her in the urn
–She is released into SB
–She and Regina bond over loosing sisters and their family
Who is this mysterious baby?

"there’s lesbians in it"FelieParticipantI sense a love triangle brewing And I finally saw Frozen last night!
I love Frozen (despite all its flaws). I’ll be VERY interested to see if they do anything with Elsa concerning love and/or attraction, and will be indescribably disappointed if they ignore her queer fans.
If she’s in danger of loosing her powers again, it means the fear has returned. If her fear has returned, most likely, it’s cause Anna’s dead.
The way I read it was that she is now aware of what can happen if she loses control again, and not that she is in immediate danger of doing so. But I think you are correct in asserting that one of the few things that could push her over the edge would be Anna’s death/if Anna were in danger.
I hope Anna is ok though. I really like her character as to me she symbolises the unconditional love that people should show their lgbtq family members after they come out (Anna never once – ever – questioned or judged Elsa after finding out about her powers.
