I predict 1.1 for episode 3, then a drop to 1.0 for episode 4.
[adrotate group="5"]sciencevsmagicParticipantAfter watching the 6X03 sneak peak, I’m more convinced that it’s Emma’s “other side”. In that clip, Regina says, “I crushed her heart and somehow, she’s still alive. How is that possible?” For the same reason that magic didn’t subdue Hyde? This seems like another example of magic not working on beings created by the splitting serum. It would also explain why the hooded figure and Emma are dueling with swords and not magic. I can’t think of any other reason Emma would be using a sword instead of her powers.
sciencevsmagicParticipantI know exactly to which pictures you are referring. My thought is: Isn’t Henry to old to be play fighting with sticks? It worked in season 2 because he was only 11, he’s in his teens now.
Henry and Hook might not have anything better to do. Henry has no friends and doesn’t seem to study. Hook is unemployed, so when his services as a henchman or “kiss delivery service” (Lily Sparks) aren’t required, I presume he passes his time with this sort of thing.
I’m surprised to see Ashley with a gun. Could her stepfamily know a secret or something that she doesn’t want revealed? Something that’ll mess up her happy ending? I’d be surprised if it’s just revenge she wants.
sciencevsmagicParticipantI think it’ll be Emma’s non-saviour side, but I don’t want it to be. We dealt with Emma’s dark side last season. It was handled very poorly, but it’s done now and I don’t want to revisit it. I do find it intriguing that Regina isn’t in the vision. If she’s not under the hood, my guess is that she’ll appear on the scene as soon as Emma is stabbed and destroy the hooded horror and save Emma. The vision feels like a climax of sorts and it doesn’t make sense for Regina to not be present.

General thoughts: A surprisingly decent episode.
Likes:
– Lana Parilla as the EQ was simply superb. SUPERB.
– Flashback Rumple. Always a pleasure.
– The planting of a few seeds, such as the mystery of David’s father’s death and the untold stories that might cause family fractures. I really am curious to see how these play out.
– The short dialogue between Regina and the EQ after Regina kills the Count. I like how the EQ points out that heroes are supposed to always find a win-win solution. This scene highlights how this isn’t always possible, and how sometimes you have to do undesirable things to save yourself or the people you love. This is a point that needed to be made on the show, perhaps more than once.
Mixed:
– The Hook and Belle scene on board the Jolly Roger. I really liked Hook’s apology. It sounded sincere, and was made all the more so by how he was attempting to help Belle. What I don’t fully agree with was how he said that he needed to forgive himself. Yes, he needs to, but he also needs to get to the point of deserving to be forgiven. I can see he’s trying to change, but IMO, he’s not quite there yet.
Archie — it’s nice to have him back, and great that Emma is going to see him, but there’s something that feels shady about him.
– Yes!! I got that vibe too! Maybe the EQ has his heart?
Dislikes:
– Operation Cobra 2. Give it a rest Henry.
– Belle seeking help from Emma and Hook.
– Emma insulting Granny’s matresses.
– Snow and Charming were wandering around with their weapons for no reason last episode, but were conveniently unarmed when the Count attacked them.
– How the concept of hiding out in TLUS came out of the blue. This just seemed like a plot device. It’s never been mentioned before, and I’m sure there have been previous cases where pressing pause would have been highly desirable.
– Emma. Sorry.
– Agreed. She still has that dead look from S5 and it’s starting to make her scenes feel a bit wooden.
sciencevsmagicParticipantThe mirror theory makes sense. I’m very surprised that Sean actually accepted this request. He sounded quite bitter in his exit interviews and spouting dialogue from a mirror doesn’t exactly sound like a rewarding role. Besides, he’s got a new gig lined up in ‘Timeless’, so why return to OUAT when it treated him so badly?
sciencevsmagicParticipantI’d wager a dozen cookies that A&E would not understand half of what you wrote there @nevermore. They and their show are simply not that sophisticated.
I like the idea about the prophecy; I’d forgotten all about it! It’d be cool if that’s how it played out. Good to have some continuity.
Didn’t A&E say in one of their interviews that we are going to see Morfetus again? I don’t really get how that’s going to work, now that Belle is no longer asleep.
sciencevsmagicParticipantWell you know, Belle and Hook might not be so bad. I’d be totally on board…if, say, Belle happens to backhand Hook across the face hard enough to knock him unconscious and then offers up an insincere apology about hormones or something. Yes, if that happens, I’ll ship them as my BroTP and name the ship Helle.
sciencevsmagicParticipantI think the bigger question is what this says about Hook and Emma’s relationship. She obviously does not trust him enough to let him in at all. She hid the shaking of the hands, she hid the visions, she even refused to let him help her with the bird. How did Hook handle all this, he got angry and went drinking at a bar. No discussions, no hey I know something is wrong and I am going to make you talk about it, just Okay whatever I will go my way and you go yours.
It’s interesting that you brought this up. Does anyone else think the line about Emma’s leather jacket in the opening CS scene held any kind of symbolism? She says she should take it off, which seems like a strange thing to say, because why would you focus on only one item of clothing in that situation? Hooks says to leave it on because he likes it. So is the jacket meant to symbolise Emma’s hang ups? Is this another subtle reference to the fact that Hook likes Emma’s walls, as he’s already admitted? Or are they attempting to show that Hook accepts Emma as she is, because the jacket is supposed to be an integral part of Emma?
sciencevsmagicParticipantUnless the show is suggesting that True Love must be perfect in order to be True Love.
I think the Zades kiss last season blew this notion out of the water. As for the rest of your questions, there’s a couple of possible answers.
1) The definition of True Love, and therefore TLK keeps changing on this show in order to provide the writers with convenient plot solutions.
2) They are saving up for a big, final, game-changing RumBelle TLK for the series endgame and this is why the couple haven’t been allowed one yet.
