On another not, this is apparently an actual thing. Linked for language.
I blame the Hot Topic designers for this. Many CS fans would also find it in poor taste. I hope they get lots of complaints.

Basically, I don’t want Henry to overtake Emma in terms of importance. OUAT claims to be a female-centric show. In S1, Emma was presented as the central progantist, the Savior. The progression of the show is, in many ways, Emma’s hero’s journey. For five seasons we’ve been told that it’s Emma’s role to create everyone’s happy ending. So if Henry suddenly became the ‘Ultimate Savior’ or what have you, it would undermine the existing mythology of the show. Worse, it would reduce Emma’s role to giving birth to this ‘Chosen One’. That would be an insulting twist from a supposedly female-centric show. So I hope they don’t go in that direction.
sciencevsmagicParticipantWhy random left-field villain — in the best case scenario, formerly known as Peasant #5 — should cause any sort of surprised excitement from the audience is totally beyond me, but there you have it
What if Peasant #5 started a revolt? Taking back control of their lives from the so-called leaders who’ve caused so much chaos. People of Storybrooke vs The FTL Extended Royal Family. Sides would be taken (who would Granny and the dwarves side with?). Powerful accomplices recruited. Wits pitted against magic. I could get excited about this. If nothing else, it’s about time a peasant got a decent storyline.
sciencevsmagicParticipantSeason 6 would be hard to fill up without outside characters. I agree that they should tie up loose ends, but they’ll be constrained by actor availability for some of those. As for the mains, as I’ve said before, I’m not sure they have enough stories left in them to carry the whole season by themselves. Besides, new characters can be a good thing. In 5A, I enjoyed the Merida-centrics. I know they didn’t have any relevance to the main plot, but I didn’t care; it was a refreshing break from all the CS angst. In 5B, Hades was the star for me.
I do agree that new characters need to be well integrated. I also agree that the writers haven’t done a good job of this recently. But…well, they’ve been renewed for another season, they’ve got 22 episodes of content to create, what can you do? I think new characters are the right move in terms of strategy. But a strategy still needs to be executed skilfully, otherwise you end up in a big mess whichever direction you take.
sciencevsmagicParticipantBelle is on set? Interesting. So she’s out of the box?
Good to know they’re thinking out of the box with Belle!
sciencevsmagicParticipantHi everyone!
Hi there! This discussion has been interesting and also depressing. I was getting cautiously optimistic about S6. But now it seems like unless this mysterious literary benefactor pops into the OUAT writers’ room for a cuppa, we’ll be getting more sub-par storytelling.
sciencevsmagicParticipantYay! I don’t know who the patient is, but I wish it were me. I could use some therapy to help me through S6.
As for Emma in therapy, here’s how THAT might play out.
ARCHIE: Emma, I’m so glad you’re seeking help for all your issues.
EMMA: I don’t have issues.
ARCHIE: Really? Since my last appearance, you became the dark one, heard voices in your head, ripped out a girl’s heart, killed your boyfriend, rescued him from hell, discovered your parents are baby kidnappers and started having disturbing prophetic dreams. Have I missed anything?
EMMA: What’s your point?
ARCHIE: My point is you could use some support.
EMMA: My walls are my support! I have four, thick, load bearing ones all around me and I can lean on them as much as I want. How can you not know about my walls?!!
ARCHIE: That’s not the kind of support I meant. You’ve been through a lot, you need help.
EMMA: Archie, this whole town’s been through a lot. EVERYONE needs help. I’m the least of your worries.
ARCHIE: But…
EMMA: I’m the main character, so my happy ending’s guaranteed. Also, I’m immune to karma, my boyfriend’s harder to kill than a cockroach and our love story is by far the writers’ favourite. Even my leather jacket gets as much backstory as the only same sex couple and it’s still with us, unlike most of the PoC. Seriously Archie, there are others who need your help more.
ARCHIE: Despite your low self awareness and negative EQ, you raise a very good point.
July 5, 2016 at 9:06 am in reply to: EW 7/1 – Spoiler Room – A New Avenue For These Characters #325218sciencevsmagicParticipant“The intent is that these new characters and new stories are really a reflection on what’s going on inside of our characters,” says EP Adam Horowitz.
Who wants to speculate about the newbies we know are coming?
“Sindad and Scheherazade” – The description said that “Sinbad” has “lost faith in his ability to lead people”. Of the mains, I’d say this is most likely reflective of Emma’s current state. Not necessarily her ability to lead, but just her faith in herself and her ability to make the right decisions. She’s made some poor ones of late.
“Morpheus” – I actually suspect that this person is going to be a minor character. But if I had to place cookies on him, I’d guess that he’s connected to Rumple’s story about waking Belle.
Slim pickings so far. This will be more interesting when we have more characters to play with.
sciencevsmagicParticipantAnd if this season involves more flashbacks of the EQ hunting down Bandit Snow White, then so be it. I love to see more of it, especially when they would involve new characters in the stoires as new or old friends of Snow (like they did with Ariel and Hercules).
Well, if the flashbacks involve a Snow and Red story then I could get on board too. Come to think of it, I did enjoy seeing Snow make new friends.
I don’t think that would work. Regina has mellowed out with Snow enough that EQ, With all her burning hatred for Snow, just can’t fake. Also the Charmings have spent enough time with Regina now to know when she is acting oddly. EQ now doesn’t have Regina’s light side holding her back like she did in season one and two. We are seeing pure unfiltered EQ.
This does make sense, but the writers are more than capable of dumbing down Snow and Charming for plot purposes if they want to make this work.
What if EQ goes after Henry? She could fake it enough for him to fall into her clutches before he realises. Also Henry is the root of everything. If EQ were to kill Henry (or just generally prevent Henry from being a pain in the backside), she’s hit Regina, the Charmings and Rumple all at once.
Highly likely that she’d pursue him, but her objective would be to get sole custody like in S1. It would be very surprising if she tried to harm Henry in any way. After all, she’s a part of Regina, so I would’ve thought that her agenda would be to get what Regina wants or wanted previously.
What I’d really love to see is the EQ go on a revenge rampage as she did after Daniel’s death, only this time it’s related to Robin. So she’d go after Hook and maybe Emma. I’m also curious to see what she’ll make of Zelena.
sciencevsmagicParticipantMaybe Hyde has some ‘foot in mouth’ serum that he can give to Kitsiss.
I’m more worried about this statement though:
No, this Evil Queen is ready to fulfill what the season 1 version of the character set out to do.
I hope this doesn’t mean we have to sit through yet more episodes of the EQ trying to hunt down Snow White. Also, I’ve been wondering whether the EQ will remain in costume or start dressing like Regina. Part of the EQ’s charm is her costume, but wearing LWOM clothes could set her up for some Regina impersonation. I’d be surprised if they don’t have an identity confusion story at some point.
