That Rumplestiltskin in a “Merlin like” mood was also nice to see, and the way in which Henry learns to use the talisman, quickly, with no help…
I really hope Rumpel isn’t recruiting a new apprentice, but it looks like he’s following his old pattern.

GaultheriaParticipantI think Cora is the kind of person who’d preserve Daniel’s body anyway — no blackmail necessary — to remind Regina not to let love get in the way of ambition.

GaultheriaParticipantI find that the fairy tale characters aren’t as interesting as their real-world counterparts. The show feels smaller now that everybody except Sneezy knows what’s going on. Also, for me, stories set in the other realms work best as support for the main plot in Storybrooke, and even though I still enjoy this season’s fairy tale land quest, I wish they’d speed things up and get on with it.

GaultheriaParticipantI had a terrible thought about the magic beans: they could be where baby giants come from. The “natural” function for the concentrated magic that people use to open portals between realms might be to create magical beings. In the episode, we heard that the giants make the beans (the episode used the word “make”, not “grow” or “cultivate” or whatever), and we heard that humans are responsible for the destruction of the beans and of the giants.

GaultheriaParticipantIn Futurama, a box held an entire universe. Even if August doesn’t fully realize what he has, I’m thinking the box could be a portal. (It already is, metaphorically, with the typewriter.)

August definitely makes a habit of keeping secrets hidden in wooden boxes. 😆 I doubt it would be just his typewriter from Season 1.
The box itself (Pandora’s?) could be a magical display, showing whatever August needs for someone to see, the way the Doctor’s psychic paper works. Hmm, August is a wanderer, and he has at least two very different adult forms. His motorcycle wasn’t blue, was it?

I don’t see why they had to resolve the daniel/monster problem in this episode, or whales arm? they could have let both play out a little longer (tortured regina a little longer? ).
I think fixing Whale’s arm was a deliberate contrast to last week’s episode. Gold healed Whale almost for free. Is he feeling remorse for what he did to Hook?

GaultheriaParticipantAnd who wants to bet that Whale’s prince is the Prince of Wallachia, otherwise known as Vlad the Impaler?

Originally I thought that Daniel being brought back would mean he would be around in Storybrooke for longer, actually BEING a monster and being a serious threat to everyone. Instead, he’s taken care of in one episode.
If Regina was really letting Daniel go, then the natural thing for this episode would have been for her to pull his heart out. Instead, she made him vanish. Possibly transported instead of dissolved? At the end, she seemed to be admitting not just to using magic but to using it for selfish reasons.
