GaultheriaParticipantIt could be that what they thought was the whole test was just the beginning. The test even showed them that, with the fire. What if they both had to be willing to permanently let go?

GaultheriaParticipantAlright someone explain to me why Rumbelle’s TLK didn’t work. She’s cursed; he’s her true love; it should work (like it has in the past)…so whattup?
It could be a mom thing, particularly the way this show portrays the power of motherly love: Belle’s true love is her child….trapped with her in an eternal sleep in the hellfire room. Oops.

Imprecise conversational use, not scientific. Like “theory”.
but even so, nearly every character has “baggage” on this show.
Neal is a victim of his own success: he isn’t Neal anymore, just the working end of a mostly-finished knitting project. There’s no more new possible for him.
To go with the baggage analogy, he doesn’t just have carry-on like some old characters, he has to pay extra to ship everything.
I don’t think it matters to the writers if certain people will be frustrated. The title is a big hint: “Only You” is a song heavily associated with Neal/Emma and now their son Henry/Violet.
Oh, I’m not disputing the song title hint.

I think there’s an advantage to using characters such as those: they don’t come with plot baggage. At this point, if Neal appears and doesn’t deal with all of the family issues that the audience has already written in their minds extensively, half of the audience will be frustrated — and if he does deal with all of that, the rest of the audience will be frustrated. There’s no surprise left with that character.
Fresh stories aren’t the safe route; they might fail completely, but they at least don’t have it built in.

GaultheriaParticipantI think being reunited with the love they had with one another in the past, instantly changed Regina and Zelena’s relationship…
I found that part of the story kind of creepy. Don’t get me wrong, I think Cora did a terrible thing when she took away her daughters’ memories. It’s just that the 30 years or so of personality development that they’d experienced since the memory wipe….well, those people deserved to grow and develop naturally, and not be instantly “patched” with a software upgrade.
(It’s kind of like how the ending of Back to the Future, even though it’s played as a happy ending, is actually really depressing, because Marty’s entire family is effectively dead and replaced by imposters — and from their point of view, if they knew the story, they’d know he’s not their Marty.)
To me, it would have felt more like a foundation for real character development for Regina and Zelena if Cora had said something like “What I took from you….I can’t give it back, but I can show you…” and then used a magic mirror to replay her own memories.

GaultheriaParticipantI think Hades is okay with the decay. My running assumption is that at first, when he changed the Underworld to look like SB, he wanted it to be a literal carbon copy–the small town feel and charm, brimming with all the quaintness we saw in S1. But it didn’t work that way because it’s still the Underworld AND, moreover, Hades wasn’t willing to let the souls move on because they feed his power/ego. He can’t have his cake and eat it too: either he can keep the souls trapped in Underbrooke (but not have it look like the one above ground) OR he can have Underbrook look like the one above ground (but not keep any of the souls tethered to it).
I think Underbrooke is exactly Storybrooke, only more so. The barrier prevents people from leaving Storybrooke; nobody can grow up and move on from that lotusland dream state, so life there is just a kind of comfortable atrophy.

GaultheriaParticipantGaultheriaParticipantI sympathize with Adam. Version control on team projects, keeping incremental backups just in case while also keeping everybody current — it’s a challenge.
