GaultheriaParticipant
No, no a thousand times no. This family tree may be approaching a level of twisted to rival that of Olympus, but we do not need to add incest to the ever winding branches.
I agree about the “Ick!” factor, but I don’t think we can rule it out based on what weve seen on-screen so far. If the crystal ball truly answers questions literally, I don’t think it would imply a child by showing the mother. I can certainly believe Rumpel’s reaction if that’s what he realized.
With regards to the contract was it for Rumple’s second born or for Rumple and Milah’s second born or for either parent’s second born, that could lead to some interesting loophole options to the contract. Maybe there is a long lost baby Jones that may have actually payed this debt and Hades is totally bluffing on his end.
Okay, if Belle is the daughter of Hook and Milah…

GaultheriaParticipant–Why did Hades choose those three?
In the movie, Hades is obsessed with changing fate. Looks like he’s taking a literal approach here.

GaultheriaParticipantAnd I really felt sorry when I learned that all she wanted was a chance to make it up to Baelfire, but was robbed of it by Rumplestilskin who cast her into the River of Souls where she is forced to endure eternal suffering when she could have had the chance to redeem herself.
Neal rolled over once again in his grave, and I just feel that if Rumple denies Milah a reunion with Baelfire, I don’t really think he deserves one either.
I suspect they’re setting up the final rescue scene of Hercules, with Rumpel and Milah as Herc and Meg.

GaultheriaParticipantLooks like Belle is in fact pregnant!
Unless Belle is Rumpel’s second child.
I mean, as long as the show is doing Greek lore, there’s precedent.

GaultheriaParticipantAlso, overall reaction to the pen being alive?
In the sense that the story is never finished, sure, I’ll accept it. At least it’s got elements of Chekhov’s gun rather than being entirely a deus ex machina. And it complements the chisel.

GaultheriaParticipantI didn’t mind Hercules, but I totally reject this version of Meg. It’s sadly ironic how this show, which originally sold itself as being about strong women, actually reduced a capable, modern, sassy Disney princess to a damsel in distress (something the character in the animated version of Hercules totally rejected).
If this was all a plot by Hades to plant an agent in Olympus, that’d be a good story on its own, but it wouldn’t fit within OUAT. Hmm, maybe that’s really Cora and not Meg.

GaultheriaParticipantI understand, and acknowledge that young teenagers can have crushes and even significant relationships but most of those latter ones are borne out of similar, long lasting life experiences. There is usually a significant emotional link between the two–Gus and Hazel have cancer (TFIOS); Henry and Violet lost a parent, and so on and so forth. In the flashback, there is a serious inequality; Hercules has all the power and knowledge and bravery; Snow needs all the power, knowledge and bravery and only her new friend (who happens to be “hawt” as the kids say) can provide this to her.
Tonight was a lost opportunity for Hercules and Snow to bond while swapping wicked stepmother stories. Young Snow must suspect by now that there’s something not quite right about Regina, and it seems pointless to abandon the fully Disnified version of Hercules’ origin story if things are going to stay sweet and happy.

GaultheriaParticipantThey might not necessarily be villains, but would have the potential to really throw a wrench in the works. Of course we’ve already tread some of that path with the Greg and Tamara plotline. Maybe some characters who were actually personable and not shady.
I think that for the benefit of its people, Storybrooke needs to come to an end(1), because I see it as a metaphor for being halfway between childhood and adulthood. Growing up is traumatic and painful, but the alternatives are much worse; the town even has its own in-story metaphor for this, in the form of Peter Pan.
If I were writing the show, Emma’s ultimate role would be to help the townspeople grow up and move into the real world. Because she would be threatening the town’s idyllic stasis — its fairy tale — many would see their crown princess as the destroyer of their world.
By season 5b, villainous villains just aren’t effective threats anymore. Hades seems like he’ll be entertaining, but he’s not there to make us fear or think. He’s there to make us laugh. The show needs an antagonist, someone to move the story beyond cartoons and soap operas and make it relevant as a cautionary tale, the way fairy tales are meant to be.

(1) Not saying “cancel the show”; that’s a different topic entirely.Gaultheria's fanvids: http://youtube.com/sagethrasher
GaultheriaParticipantSo, yes. JMo is a much better actor with MRJ and when it’s an emotional SF scene vs with Colin and it’s an emotional CS scene.
I think Emma and Hook had chemistry when they first met, as rivals and uneasy allies. It’s different from romantic chemistry. I liked them as Quark and Odo.
