I thought it was kind of a cheap shot for Rumpel to essentially dare Belle to not show up for their reconciliation. I don’t know if there’s any really good way for a couple to resolve the kind of problems they have, so I’m not being absolutely critical. Rumpel’s request did sort of put the power into Belle’s hands, but it felt to me as if Rumpel was also abdicating responsibility to work really hard to fix things. I mean, even if Rumpel hadn’t made that request, Belle still could’ve walked away from the relationship if that was her choice. Rumpel didn’t have to offer permission, so the offer feels like a dare, a passive-aggressive remnant of his old way of doing things.

Yes! I like this quick, blink-and-you-miss-it humour.

The slapstick comedy of unintentionally issuing commands to the Dark One is funny, too. Too bad they’ve closed that now; I was hoping for someone to swear while holding one of the Dark One remotes.

Human Rumple bested Hook…..this is the biggest shocker this whole season.

But then it turned out to be the kind of misdirection worthy of a smart villain, so I give it thumbs up.

I understand that he’s angry but it seems like he was too willing to turn against her.

I look at it as like dreaming. It’s all really him, but working differently.

But, the issue is that at the end of the day they aren’t giving us any sort of in universe explanation. We have to make things up to try and rationalize their plot

I’m hoping that Hook’s story about his rings, in the same episode as the big revelation about his endarkenment, has implications beyond just that it led Emma to act rashly. But yeah, I know what you mean.

*insert long winded speech about fantasy and world building and how it’s not anything goes and how lack of rules means I stop caring since there is nothing to grab ahold of*

For me, this is really the big one. We know they’ve been back in SB for several days (minimum) and he’s never once noticed that he doesn’t need sleep? And that’s he not getting tired?

If I was on the writing team, I’d put it this way:

It looks to me as if people with unresolved issues are more vulnerable to dark influence. The dark spirit strengthens their fears and hatreds, making sleep impossible — which in turn changes their personalities and behaviours — but it also sustains their bodies through what would otherwise be terminal sleep deprivation. Hook has dealt with his issues, so he sleeps soundly and doesn’t show signs of dark influence.

I think Ruby and Mulan have been gone from the show too long to fit back in. Even if they stay around as regulars from now on, even if they get new plotlines built around them, they won’t have that continuity with what made them memorable in the first place.

I liked that even though it made her look bad, Regina kept her promise to Emma to use the dagger when it became necessary.

–Hook never showed any signs of having the Darkness in him. Where were the voices? He really never felt the Darkness inside? He never realized he had powers?

I think this is consistent with his story. He had his own reattached hand amputated because it represented the darkness in his soul, so I can buy that he’s learned to tune out dark impulses.
