GaultheriaParticipant
Wait did I miss something.
When Nimue drank from the grail…. Did she just become immortal? Or did she become a second sorcerer (sorceress?) because I recall Merlin said that killing Vortigun will “turn her magic dark” and at that point I don’t recall Nimue ever having used magic. At that point, anything Merlin said — even if the words weren’t strictly accurate — would’ve translated as “Don’t”. But I think she was already evil well before that, just not evil evil. You know, Vader evil but not yet Emperor evil.
Plus, Merlin going missionary dating is just kind of funny.

GaultheriaParticipantI think the story is more fun if Nimue was evil all along, if she destroyed the village, and if never-heard-of-him bad guy was just a minion. And also that that wasn’t the Holy Grail (Indiana Jones had an observation about cup design) but rather a prison for an ancient evil that Merlin unwittingly freed.
This could reconcile the Dark One origin stories.

GaultheriaParticipantThe OUAT universe uses a mashup of Greek and Middle Eastern folk tales, and there’s this source material that they can go back to and draw from again:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladdin
Aladdin retains a magic ring lent to him by the sorcerer as protection. When he rubs his hands in despair, he inadvertently rubs the ring and a jinnī (or “genie”) appears who takes him home to his mother. Aladdin is still carrying the lamp.
Cue dramatic music for the return of Jafar.

That must have been a reference to Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. The visuals and the lyrics fit.

GaultheriaParticipantwith Greek mythology coming, I’m starting to wonder if Hook’s father took it off of a Greek deity of some sort of making it literally is imbued with immortality
Genie inside?

GaultheriaParticipantCool. I’m cautiously optimistic, and hoping for the prime universe rather than the reboot universe.
Axanar has set the bar really high:

GaultheriaParticipantHas Merlin touched anything since he escaped from the tree? If he hasn’t, then maybe he never really escaped, and the characters are interacting with an illusion. (There was a similar issue with Giles on season 7 of Buffy.)

GaultheriaParticipantEmma wasn’t talking to just Zelena? Zelena is evil or something, but the baby is innocent. Together they are Captain Planet.

Yeah, Arthur could’ve just put the mushroom in his pocket, or even done the spell properly and just lied about what he heard. It’s as if he’s trying to get caught without outright confessing.

GaultheriaParticipantWhaaaaaattt??? He was a friendly robot!!! ?
Sorry he couldn’t understand that.
I think it might have been the giant’s big eyes. At least, I remember being scared of Sleestaks on the original Land of the Lost — I still get a start when I see a picture of one. Spider eyes, too. And grey aliens. And skulls. It probably all boils down to things that resemble skulls.
