GaultheriaParticipant
I recommended The Iron Giant to a friend for his son. I think the movie has a lot going for it, but what the son got out of it was “scary robot”.

I’m a little out of touch with the current season, but speculation is still fun. I’ve wondered about the Doctor’s “half-human” comment. Things we’ve seen on the show:
* Humans can become Time Lords.
* Humans can become Daleks.
* Sometime in the next 3000 years, humans invent or acquire time-travel technology.
So, I’m thinking human colonization of the distant past, followed by a lot of evolution and/or genetic engineering or whatever to really stretch the definition of “human”. Maybe Gallifrey and Skaro are even the same planet in incompatible timelines. That would fit nicely with the recurring Dalek quote of “Doc-tor, you are a good Da-lek”.

GaultheriaParticipantI think that freeing Excalibur from the stone — the first step in the sword’s re-forging — needed not necessarily a hero but rather an injured soldier on the mend.
This might have something to do with Hook’s upcoming part in the process.

GaultheriaParticipantEh, I liked their adventure, but really was it necessary for Merida to kidnap Belle?
Merida should be a firefighter in Storybrooke, because she can run very fast and very far while carrying an unconscious adult.
Either that, or 10 miles down the path someone said “Hey, where did Belle and Merida go?”.

Merida’s eyes are very expressive.
Merlin’s voicemail message sounded like something from a movie. I think he must have watched a lot of movies while he was a tree; maybe the theatre was the only place he could manifest without being summoned. I’m expecting him to quote Star Wars in a few weeks.
This episode did Terminator 2! Belle as Sarah Connor (“You can make your own fate” = “No fate but what we make”), Rumpel as John Connor learning how to wage war, and Merida as Terminator Hermione.
Dislikes:
Yes, Merida, we know you have brothers, and we know you’re on a quest to rescue them. Yes, you told us.
Puzzled:
They said the four-letter word that a bunch of people were so critical of them for not saying last week or whenever it was, but I’m not sensing a lot of warm feelings from fandom for it.

GaultheriaParticipantHow about if Emma crushed her own heart rather than harm anyone else? Sure, it has to be the heart of the person you love the most, but “Greater love has no one than this…” probably also works.
Being sustained by the dark power — with no emotional centre to keep her human — could explain why she’s so cold and distant now.

After watching episode 2 (?) I complained on this forum that Emma should just threaten Rumple that she would kill Belle if he doesn’t pull the sword.
How about if Emma is stalling for time? Maybe she is bound to go along with the Dark One’s ambitions, but she has enough individuality left to do it as inefficiently as possible.

GaultheriaParticipantDid it look to anyone else as if Merlin was preparing to plunge the dagger into his own chest? The Dark One’s goal in turning him into a tree might have been to keep him from another suicide attempt. It would be in keeping with Rumpel’s talk in this episode about how the Dark One host always wants to use the power to protect his or her loved ones.

GaultheriaParticipantI am convinced…that Merlin’s first love and the Dark One we saw are both Nimue, who was Merlin’s love
The way the first Dark One moved — and, of course, the mask — reminded me of Valka from How to Train Your Dragon 2. So yeah, themes of dragons and lost love.
