Apologies ’cause I can’t remember the original person who pointed this out (I’m a shameful tumblr-er) but the other day I saw someone cast Tallahassee-age Bae with this guy and it made my DAY http://ffrenchtoast.tumblr.com/post/39693330208/as-you-walk-on-by-will-you-call-my-name

From the fact that she was still hearing the dagger, to the way they are doing her make-up, to her utter obsessiveness with Hook, there’s something a little… odd about Emma. And the whole “prophetic” dreams thing. What if it’s not just a MacGuffin? Is it possible that she’s still harboring some sort of DO left-overs?I would actually really, really like this…. I’ve been waiting for Emma to shake off the trance-like-monotone and pallor for weeks and I thought that once Hook came back she’d be a bit back to herself…? But it seems from the sneak peeks she’s still really subdued and broken….having more darkness still inside her might seem repetitive but it would be worth it in terms of logistic satisfaction, imo.
Plus I would really enjoy more of DarkEmma plot that aims at more of a character study of her, singular.

GloriaDrewThisParticipantI think it’s an interesting twist on the persephone story that Zelena and Hades’ relationship effects on growth, specifically nature-related growth… only obviously instead of their story affecting the mortals within the own seasonal sphere of existence, the life vs decay consequences are intrinsic to the underworld itself (and just bringing the mortals along for the ride).
GloriaDrewThisParticipantDon’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of sass and sarcasm. And Hook, at times. And I definitely agree that being trapped anywhere can lead to frustration and regrettable outbursts…. in fact I would have enjoyed if Hook’s remarks had lead to some frustration/outbursts from Emma and Regina too… everyone is tired but it seemed out that nobody, besides Henry, bit back on Henry’s behalf.
I think for me it comes down to a) that they are in this mess because of Hook and b) Henry’s age. It’s one thing to ‘Sparkly Dirt’ Cora (which, still a great line IMO), but if it had been Bailee Madison (as an example) trying to come up with a plan after Hook got them purgatoried on that beach… and after a few episodes of Hook seeking contrition for that very action…. he then snips at the kid who’s trying to help?
Narratively, I can understand if it stemmed from a sense of guilt about what he’s done to this kid in general… but at best that makes it seem like he’s acting out on another person what he doesn’t like about himself (not okay) and at worst….. he’s being an oblivious pissant to legitimately the only innocent character in this mess (really really not okay).
GloriaDrewThisParticipantIt’s odd…. there’s been so many terrible, terrible things done by nearly all the characters on this show that, for me, almost everyone cancels each other out in terms of permanent audience disapproval (hi Zelena). I don’t get upset by most things on the show, including actions that are the most disgusting choices a person can make (hi again Zelena) because I don’t get invested because it’s all horrible and ridiculous and so clearly fabricated to be a bigtop, consequence-less wonderland.
That said… there is something I can’t quite shake about the whole Hook going in on Henry about the book. I’m not upset (again, not enough invested to genuinely react), but every time I remember it, I just can’t stop squinting at how… mean that was.
I suppose it makes sense that that moment in particular sticks. Bringing a boy and his mother and his entire family to hell because revenge fuels you like wheaties? Alright sure, it’s dramatic nonsense and we’ll forget it next week, let’s just keep riding the rollercoster and see what weird adrenaline rush pops up around the next corner. But there’s something so small and personal and genuinely cruel about mocking a child for a) trying and b) trying to be creative and c) trying to be creatively helpful to you that just seems….. real?
Granted, I’m also the artist/writer in my group so this might just be 110% basic cable bias ^^
GloriaDrewThisParticipantCan I ship Hades with that coat? That coat is everything.
GloriaDrewThisParticipantgoing with Hellena, personally ^^
Also, that last scene btwn them was fantastic.
GloriaDrewThisParticipantAfter the latest podcast, I am completely, completely on board the idea of Rumple becoming the new lord of the dead and his daughter is Once’s version of Persephone…. it lays down a more bittersweet ending for Rumbelle (the child sees each parent for only a portion of the year and the (arguably toxic) couple are never together) and also, in terms of mirroring the father/child story that motivated the entire series, provides a slight progression from where Rumple started with Bae but still not granting him a completely happy ending (which you could argue he doesn’t deserve after all he’s done): he has to lose his child again and again for a portion of every year, but always knows that she (or he, but sticking with the Persephone angle) will return to him.
GloriaDrewThisParticipantI always love seeing the Apprentice…. for some reason, almost more than anyone else on the show, he always just reads as Straight Out of A Fairy Tale.
