Why do I say that? Once’s writers are the same writers who wrote for Lost. Lost was good, but this show doesn’t have JJ Abrams. Lost almost didn’t make it, before it really got good. The show’s powers-that-were, were forced to make changes. It was almost cancelled after season 3 and not just because of long hiatuses. It was because the writers kept frustrating viewers with bad story lines, too much jumping around. Their writers seem to like two things: Flash-backs, and death. Both have been prominent with both Lost, and with Once Upon a Time. The running question has become: “Who will be the next character to die”?
I hear what you’re saying. I can’t imagine how someone without access to past episodes would possibly want to start watching this show from where it is now. It’s turned into a weird fairytale smorgasbord. It is similar to Lost in that the first season was very captivating, and then the show dragged on for a long time in the middle with a bunch of stuff that inevitably had nothing to do with how it ended (sorry Lost). But I have faith that Once will be given time to redeem itself. And having JJ Abrams may have helped Lost, but I don’t think it would have helped Once. Once and Alcatraz aired around the same time and look who is still on the air?
As for, “who will die?”, I’m so confused with all the plot lines right now, knocking off a couple of characters couldn’t hurt. If any less than 10 characters die before the end of season 2 it’s going to be very crowded in SB. Granny’s B&B is gonna be bursting!
[adrotate group="5"]gwendlParticipant3, Perhaps Charming was having a David moment? I think David can be summed up perfectly by the way in which he cursed himself, a p—- 😡
Although, with Charming gone I hope we can see Henry become the hero of the show.gwendlParticipantRed room: did anyone else think Twin Peaks’ white lodge for a second?
gwendlParticipantHmmm, I didn’t mean for this to go off topic. My beef is clearly with US network television, not OUAT.
I’d like to add that none of the actors pictured above are “ugly” or “average”. They’re unique 🙂
gwendlParticipantVery cool stuff!
gwendlParticipantI think the writers and creators have done very well to try to make a variety of strong female personalities, but network television has long been guilty of portraying women with one single motive: finding their prince charming. I find Regina to be one of the most dynamic characters on television right now, female or male. She’s a queen who wears frickin’ leather pants! but I don’t think that the character helps the feminist movement much. Nothing against the actresses of the show, they are all very talented, but they are also all around 5’6″ and 115lbs with tiny facial features and cute outfits. Not very empowering to the stout women or the tall ones with big noses to see that the only women who look like them will probably end up playing witches and monsters.
gwendlParticipantAm I the only one who is really confused about why Mulan is in there? How are they going to work that in?
gwendlParticipantMr. Gold’s Pawnshop and Storybrooke Pet Shelter seem to be pretty semi-permanent fixtures in Steveston. The signs are always up.
gwendlParticipantJust finished listening the the most recent podcast and regarding Mr. Gold’s travels, what if instead of everyone remembering and going back to FTL, FTL (or at least its magic) comes to Storybrooke. I know this theory of magic in our world has been mentioned before. If Mr Gold had magic in SB maybe he could use that to leave town and find Bae. Plus, all the nuns in SB would also have magic 😀
gwendlParticipantRegina won’t let him squeeze hearts until he’s 16, so he’s practicing on the turnover. Somewhere and apple has just fallen from a tree clutching its core in agony.
