Ok, I had some problems with this episode – mainly because it seemed to directly contradict OUAT mythology, and had some serious plot holes. Any feedback would be welcome.
Cannon Issues
– Way back in “The Thing You Love The Most” (S1E2) Regina goes to visit Maleficent. We find out that Regina traded Maleficent the Dark Curse in exchange for the sleeping curse she wanted to use on Snow White. Now she wants it back saying to Maleficent that it was “undone by a simple kiss.” Maleficent counters something to the effect of: “I got over it, so will you.”
This SERIOUSLY implies that Sleeping Beauty woke up sometime between when Snow White ate the apple and was woken up. Or at the very least, sometime before Snow woke up. In “Broken” Sleeping Beauty does not wake up until 28 years after the Dark Curse is broken.
???????
Other plot holes:
– Mulan accuses Emma and Snow of being responsible for bringing the Wrath that killed Phillip. However, the Wrath attacked them in FTL BEFORE Rumple summoned it to Storybrooke.
– If there was only one Wrath (as the SB and FTL stories were happening concurrently) how did both Rumple AND Aurora have the Wrath’s medallion?
Yeah the whole Maleficent thing really bothered me too as soon as I found out it wasn’t in the past. Then again, I’ve begun to accept that anything they say in the first few episodes of season one can’t really be counted as cannon. For example, Snow saying that “she poisoned an apple because she thought I was prettier than her.”
My explanation for the wraiths… all I can say is that there must be more than one wraith. As for why Mulan blames Emma and Snow… I’m waiting for the next episode.
The medallion thing was driving me crazy! Again, I can only say there’s more than one wraith.

But they said how they were in a part of the forest that had been untouched. Does that mean that they weren’t touched by the curse at all and that time just froze? or that they were aware of all of the events happening. Also, the timeline seems to be very off from Storybrooke’s timeline. When the wraith was released into fairy tail land, was when the sent it into the hat in Storybrooke.
Maybe… or maybe there’s more than one wraith. 😮

But the other wraith already killed Phillip? I don’t think Regina thought anything was left of the enchanted forest though the fact that there is probably was completely unexpected to her and maybe even Rumple.
I’m not convinced that Phillip is dead. I think he’s still alive, it’s just that someone has to go and retrieve his soul. I don’t want him to be dead. He can’t be dead that fast.

Can’t disagree with that! I wish we could have seen a little more of what it’s gonna be like for Snow and Emma in the enchanted forest but we’ll have to wait the week before we can see what that’s gonna be like. Unless somebody moved him you’d think August is still there in his room.
Personally, I had expected them to end the episode with Snow and Emma leaving and then not even show us where they went until next week, so actually seeing them show up in the Enchanted Forest or wherever they are was kind of a bonus. Now I just have one question: Where the heck did the wraith go when it went through the portal?

Horowitz and Kitsis conduct a post-primere interview:

Watched the premiere… I’m thinking he’s not Bae. Why would Bae be getting a message that the curse was broken? It seems to me like he wouldn’t know anything about Storybrooke.
If he’s not Bae then it’s possible more people that were brought to reality by the curse have figured a way to be able to leave Storybrooke.
That would be cool, but I also feel like it would make things really complicated, because then there would have to be an explanation of how they left, and since they continually stated it was one of the rules of the curse that they couldn’t leave, none of the rules would really matter anymore. Maybe he’s someone who managed to come to our world before the curse? He would have to be a realm jumper, possibly the Wizard of Oz. (I’m really hoping for the Wizard of Oz to make an appearance.)

I think it was really awesome, and I loved the fact that Emma has magic (I think?) My only problem with the episode was that everything felt a little rushed to me…
There’s jus so much to cram into one hour! There’s already a lot to take in and try to decipher. I like how they’re gonna do it though with Emma and Snow then with Charming and Henry.
Yeah, and I also felt like they left a lot of stuff out, August for example. What happened to him? I know they only have so much time, so I can’t really blame them for leaving it out. It just seemed like the story was moving really fast. If they had done a two-hour premiere, that would have been cool!

Well it seems the townspeople are also confused as to who he is. On the new promo though it seems like he and Jefferson are affiliated so he’s possibly some kind of realm jumper as well.
Fingers crossed for Wizard of Oz!
hannah97ParticipantWell, magic is unpredictable in this world….. Honestly I’m not sure. I hope they explain it and don’t leave us wondering.
