SpectatorOk, I think that map of the stars leads them to the plant that Hook was looking for and this saves David.
I also think the deal was one of them had to stay in NL and one could returned. Since Hook’s brother never came back (abandoned), Hook turned to pirating that explains why he came back to NL. I could never figure out how he wanted or knew about NL originally.
Why would Hook want to return to NL, if his brother was killed? Hook must have made a deal with PP for safety or something else.

So I guess they land in NL, but never found the cure for the plant.

SpectatorExcept these two (Rumble & Neal) don’t even know that David is sick. Maybe they ride the animal to a cave under the sea or some place else.
