I can see a lot of possibilities to use Zelena outside of the baby scenario. She is an extremely powerful witch with a lot of knowledge. She is an instant information source and can wield that information to gain more and more freedom within Storybrooke. She could become a Rumple-type character.
Thing is, if they use Zelena that way then they are stepping on a lot of existing regular characters toes. If Zelena is the information source, where does that leave Belle? As you say, Zelena is “powerful” with “a lot of knowledge” where does that leave Rumple when he does re-enter the story? Each existing character has a role to play within the group but if Zelena starts doubling up on those roles then you have a surplus of characters doing the same thing.
Well it would seem likely that Rumple and Belle will sit this mission out, thus opening a spot for Zelena.
[adrotate group="5"]Heart of DarknessParticipantYeah, it makes sense that he came over with Second Curse like the Sorcerer’s mansion.
Heart of DarknessParticipantI think Henry will be tempted to influence the story after all, now that his mother is the new Dark One.
Maybe but he has no means to do so.
I’m sure the mighty Sorcerer could whip up another quill rather easily.
As far we know, he’s the originator of the mantle of the Author, after all.
Heart of DarknessParticipantAssuming the dark cloud took Emma away to Camelot, I don’t think itd be odd that it can return her to SB if summoned.
The darkness has never done anything before it was extracted. They’ll probably come up with some handwavey explanation as to why it took Emma to another realm.
But summoning the Dark one is a command like any other. Just forcing them to teleport. Remember how Zelena couldn’t summon Rumple because Neal was in control of the body? Emma can’t cross realms, so the summoning won’t work (assuming the commands would even reach). Not to mention that if it really was that easy to get Emma back, they’d do it right away in the premiere, which would defeat the whole purpose of her disappearance.
Heart of DarknessParticipantQuestion: the dagger is left lying in the road, with Emma’s name on it. Couldn’t someone–Hook, Henry, Snowing, Regina–just pick it up and summon Emma back to SB?
Not if she’s in another realm.
Has that been established in show?
Well, essentially the dagger just forces the Dark One to teleport himself if someone summons them. And obviously it’s been established that the Dark One doesn’t have the power to cross realms just like that. Can’t order the Dark One to do something they’re unable to do.
But honestly I doubt ANY orders would work. Like, they can’t just whisper “lift your hand up” to the dagger in Storybrooke, and Emma in whatever realm she’s in would do it. Would seem a bit odd, in my opinion.

Heart of DarknessParticipantWait,,,, Apprentice died???? I thought he just….passed out? Crap.
Yes, we didn’t see him die.
We did. It was the classic “final message” cliche and we were promised a permanent death in the finale.
Heart of DarknessParticipantIt’s official. OUAT will remain on Sundays at 8pm. Also included in the press release is a brief synopsis for Season 5 and the cast list. The synopsis doesn’t give away any new information, so I can post it without spoiler tags:
“ONCE UPON A TIME” (Season 5) Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (“Lost,” “Tron: Legacy”) invite everyone to join Emma Swan, Snow White, Prince Charming, the Evil Queen, Hook, Rumplestiltskin and all the other resident fairy tale characters as they cope with Emma’s new role as the dark one and they begin the search for Merlin. “Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Colin O’Donoghue as Hook, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Michael Socha as Will Scarlet and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold. Executive producers are Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, Steve Pearlman and David H. Goodman. “Once Upon a Time” is produced by ABC Studios.
One thing to keep in mind is that the cast list probably isn’t finalized. Michael Socha wasn’t officially listed in the cast list until after SDCC, if I recall.
I wonder if Sean will be a regular this time around.
Heart of DarknessParticipantI said disappeared for dramatic effect. Maybe she’ll instantly re-appear at the beginning of Season 5, or they’ll use the dagger to summon her. If she disappeared to a specific location, I have no clue.
I don’t think Emma’s disappearance was just for “dramatic effect” since it paralleled Rumple’s disappearance (minus the dagger) too much to be just a coincidence. And I doubt she just popped in around the corner at Granny’s diner. I think Emma will be somewhere other than Storybrooke, possibly in the EF or perhaps even in Camelot.
For sure. If she was still in Storybrooke they could simply summon her back, defeating the purpose of the whole disappearance.
Sending her off to another realm is good way to set her on a path to darkness, because she won’t have any of her friends and family supporting her.
Heart of DarknessParticipantGotta wonder how Hook feels about this right now. After all, he spent over a century wanting to kill the Dark One and searched for methods to do it. Now… his GF is the Dark One.
