ParticipantAwww, those pics of Henry and Neal just remind me of how Neal literally lost every single person important in his life within a span of 20 minutes (his father, his son, the love of his life). Those reunion scenes we will hopefully get very soon into S3-B better be AMAZING. I still just want to hug the guy all the time and tell him things will be okay. đ
And I loved that alphabet list! These were my favorites…
S- Smile- because he could always make her smile
T- Tallahassee- because they were almost home
U- Understand- because they always understand each other

ParticipantHeather’s Happy SwanFire Thought for the Day:
Emma still has the bug and Neal still has the keychain….they’re still together even though they’re in two different worlds right now. đ

ParticipantPhee wrote: That post made many excellent points. And honestly, I wouldnât have much of a problem (Iâd still be annoyed by the lack of CaptainFire) with his current characterisation if theyâre showing him acting this way as a means to paint him in a negative, self-destructive light. And maybe they are doing that, and maybe they arenât, (the official podcast would have come in really handy for S3A â conspiracy theory: Kitswitz deliberately didnât do that podcast again for PR reasons, because if they spoke honestly about how theyâre writing Hook, it would alienate a whole chunk of the fandom), but the impression we get from the promo of the show is that weâre supposed to see Hook as a legit romantic contenderâŚwhich, no. Because heâs acting like an arse. That post was dead on when it called him hypocritical. Hypocritical, dark, messed up Hook would be far more interesting and acceptable if they werenât seemingly trying to pass him off as a romantic hero.
Iâve had similar thoughts about questioning A&Eâs motives; itâs awfully convenient of them to discontinue the podcast just as the triangle of doom was getting underway. Iâm convinced that Hook is deliberately being portrayed in an ironic way; he believes heâs a man of honor, and yet his selfish motives show otherwise. Itâs like he still a morally-confliced, self-centered, drunken pirate who doesnât really know how to reform his debauched dealings. You can dress him up, clean him up, and put him on a white stead, but Hook is still a far cry from the Prince Charming we first met in the pilot galloping to save Snow White. A lot of CS fans are questioning why Hook still insists on dressing like a 17th century pirate captain instead of like David Nolan in a cable sweater. They say they canât wait to see him dressing like a prep boy. Ummmmm, excuse me? Maybe Hook doesnât really want to stop being Hook, who is still proudly a pirate, as Tink said in 3Ă11. If Hook suddenly were to cease dressing like a pirate and were to give up his hook for a prothetic limb, then he wouldnât be âHookâ anymore! Heâd just be Killian, the J. Crew model, and then he really would be left without any further plot development, except as Emmaâs love-struck, somewhat vacant suitor. Wouldnât that make for great television? Instead of Hook, the scoundrel pirate, we get Mr. Rogers.
I agree with all of this but I do think part of the podcast problem this year was that A&E were working on and writing for two shows this year. I think we’d still be getting the podcasts if ABC hadn’t decided to do Wonderland concurrently with OUAT this fall (I personally liked the thought of using Wonderland to fill the OUAT hiatus that’s going on right now but I didn’t get a vote) because they might have been asked to do a podcast for that show as well which is an awful lot to have on their plate all at the same time. I hope with Wonderland ending pretty quickly in the spring that maybe the guys will have time to do the podcasts again for S3 part B (I think Adam tweeted a while back that they miss doing them and would like to bring them back someday). I loved listening to those every Monday night and the Tallahassee and Manhattan ones are still two of my favorites. đ

She put a love and care in her yellow bug and even though she has an opportunity to sell it she has never had. Perhaps the yellow bug is a symbol of hope for her. And we know all happy endings begin with hope.
Yes! People debate whether or not she was telling the truth about the reason she kept the swan pendant. But seriously, she also kept their Bug. It was the place they met, the place they lived, the place they slept, potentially the place that Henry was conceived, it was their home, it was the last place she ever saw him. Even moreso than the swan pendant, that car represented THEM. And she held onto it. She wouldnât have held onto it if every time she got into it, it was a âreminder to never trust anyone again,â like the line she tried to spin about why sheâd kept the pendant. If she had that sort of negative reaction to the car, if it brought her down to get into it every single day, she would not have kept it. She kept it because somewhere inside, she always knew that she never stopped loving him, and that car, and that pendant, were all she had left of him, and she wanted him near her all those years. If she really wanted to let go of her love for him, she wouldnât have kept either of those things. But she kept them, and she invested in maintaining their old car, their old home. That speaks volumes to me.
Preach. You don’t keep something as big as a car (especially one that wasn’t new and would definitely need to be maintained) unless it means something important to you. I still think Emma kept the keychain and wore it close to heart to always remind her of what it feels like to be loved by someone. From what all we know about Emma and her history, Neal really is the only person from her life before Storybrook who showed her love, affection, and companionship. In the pilot she tells the creepy bail jumper that she has no family or friends so Neal was truly the only person who ever cared about and loved her in the real world. That’s a pretty powerful thing. My head canon will always be that the keychain symbolized Emma realizing what love actually is and that she never wanted to forget that feeling even if she never saw Neal again (although I’m pretty sure a part of her has always wanted to see Neal again but that’s a whole other post here, LOL).
Love FTW!!!! đ

One of my biggest fears is that half of these have happened off screen. ONCE has a tendency to take important emotional character development moments and put them off screen instead of letting the viewers see it. However, for things that are this big, I donât think A and E would deprive usâŚno matter what the outcome of the triangle would be.
I hope you’re right. Those things are too big to have happened or eventually happen off screen (which is why they made my list) so I really hope they let us see these things unfold ON screen. I know what you mean about them just dropping things or letting them happen off screen…one of my only pet peeves with this show is their annoying tendency to do just that instead of taking two seconds to add one or two lines to the show.

ParticipantOh so many pretty things to brighten up this sleep deprived girl’s week!! Thanks so much guys! đ
Random: While I was on vacation I got to talk briefly about OUAT to three friends of mine who are non online fandom participating fans of the show. We didn’t talk too many specifics because we talked more about the figure skating (I was in Boston for the US Figure Skating championships) but the one girl was amused by all the Neal stuff that’s been showing up on my FB and Twitter feeds and since none of them mentioned anything about being annoyed by it, I’m thinking they might be closet SwanFire fans or at least, fans who don’t hate Neal. Nothing concrete and it’s just my hunch but none of them made fun of me or told me that I was dreaming about my hopes for them so I’ll take anything I can infer or imagine from those conversations, LOL đ
I agree that it is a very lonely place in the OUAT fandom for a SwanFire fan. You get ridiculed, told you’re stupid, hopeless, and a big loser, made fun of for “thinking that there’s still anything there”, the media doesn’t seem to think anyone exists other than the pirate with the drinking problem, and you can’t have a conversation about anything else on the show without someone bringing up the other ship. It’s really sad to me because I love talking about all aspects of this show with other fans but because I ship something different than the majority of the online folks, I can’t even talk to them anymore. This board has been a saving grace for me to still have somewhere to go because I have my SwanFire Haven here to gush and hope with you guys but I can also still go into other areas of the board and talk about the other parts of the show. This is really one of the most sane OUAT places out there and while I know it’s had its moments (sorry you had one of those recently RG!), this really is a wonderful place and I am so grateful to be here and thankful that I found it. *passes out cookies* đ
While I’m rambling (and avoiding all the work that’s still piled up in my work email inbox, LOL) there are a few things that I’m hoping get resolved or at least teased about a resolution in this second half of the season. Here’s my little checklist of things that haven’t been done yet in season three and that I hope get resolved somehow, remembering that nothing is a coincidence on this show.
There is a reason that:
*Emma still doesn’t know the whole story about Milah.
*Emma now has memories that should make her understand why Neal made the decision he did when he left her to be the savior all those years ago.
*Emma and Neal haven’t gotten to really talk about anything yet.
*Hook’s bad past hasn’t come up again aside from Regina’s awesome comment about how she hasn’t forgotten about his dirty work with GOAT (thank goodness someone remembers…).
*Emma & Neal have shared a bunch of emotional and loving type of moments together but have not yet shared any type of kiss.
*Leaps of faith were taken by all three members of the SwanFire family (Emma on the boat, Neal with the shadow, Henry with the pixie dust).
*We haven’t seen the dreamcatcher or swan pendant play a big part in things yet but the Bug was front and center in taking Emma & Henry to safety (and eventually to Neal’s home in NYC…) and all three of those things are big time SwanFire symbols. There’s a specific reason all of these things have been shown but not resolved , hinted at, or come back to yet so it would be really bad writing for them to deviate from what they’ve ALL READY DONE on the show and go down a completely different path. I’m not going to tell them how to write their show but if all of these things, ALL of which I consider canon since they’ve been said or happened on the show all ready, don’t get resolved or brought up again sometime in season 3 part B, I will genuinely be very sad. Don’t tell me one story and then totally take a 180 on me when you think the majority wants to see something else. Someone up above said that shows die when they start catering to fans and I totally agree with that so hopefully they stick with their statement from SDCC last year (I think): “We don’t write ships; we write stories.” Well, they started a great story with SwanFire (you can take it all the way back to the pilot too because Emma does talk about Henry’s father to Regina so the character of Neal is NOT someone they randomly brought in…he’s someone they’ve thought about for a while) and I want to see them continue writing that instead of bowing down to media, network, or fan pressure. Stay true to your vision guys.
/end rant (Awww man, this means I have to go back to work now, LOL)
